Alpha Ghost 2 tennis stringing machine review after 2 years use
What’s up man. I just subscribed. Please return the favor.
AliExpress?
Can those 4 tooth wide body clamps adjust for Badminton too you think? I do all the racquet sports, and using current Head Machine, which have some updated 5 tooth clamps like on the Solinco Machine, but I am pretty sure the 4 tooth Prince clamps can fit in there also, it's all from the same manufacturer, I just want to make sure the 4 tooth can also adjust to go small enough for badminton strings :)
Not certain. I suspect the wilson, prince, head, and alpha machines all come out of the same factory. The clamps that I purchased are actually sold with the higher end prince models. Hope that helps.
Awesome thanks, I was able to source and buy a pair of these as well from the P7000. If they aren't suitable enough for badminton string then I can always just use the current ones I have been for those. Excited!
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Nylon materials horrible for wet weather conditions? The plastic can absorb water even from air causing it to swell & deteriorate when wet? I’d figure you want an 6061 alloy pedal for durability & weather. Just an observation
Good question, I'd think so as well, but they do make some bold claims as to how much stronger they are compared to other materials, including aluminum if I remember correctly. You should check out their website. I can personally say that I've had no degradation of any kind in 2 years of use. Still love mine.
Hey Michael, question I see that you have the V11 “Classic Pads” from Grizzla but when I go onto the site and look up the pads for V11Y (mine is the Y but it’s the same body.) It brings me to the “FLOW” pads. Not sure why V11 is Classic and V11Y is flow? Does that make any sense too you? Maybe I should ask them?
I'm not sure. Sounds like it may just be the website. I'd reach out to them, they were very helpful with me in choosing between them.
@@mikethewheelchairguy ok tnx I will!
Oh my God! I go about 12 on the V5F which scares me sometimes and now I am trying to learn my V11Y which I can make go faster than 12 but I am afraid! I simply get scared! I wish I knew how to overcome the feeling? Maybe because I don’t feel safe? Not sure?
The confidence and trust in the device comes with each and every ride. Also too, having the right dialed in setup is a game changer. Power pads are probably the most effective thing you can do to feel more secure on the device. After 2 years using the V11 maybe 2 times a month in the summer only, I've completely out grown it and am now deciding on my next wheel. I still absolutely love the V11 but I'm ready for 45-50 mph now.
@@mikethewheelchairguy ooo. Be careful!
Hey Michael I have the V11Y which has a similar construction like the V11. I tried the jump pad from Inmotion and it sucks so I am going to purchase the one from Grizzla like you have. I was confused on the size and I see that you have the CLASSIC size which I’m going to get too. I’m interested in that bubble stuff that you have above the pads. I am trying to find it on Amazon but I need a better name to call it for Amazon to do a better search for it. Do you have a more specific name for it or better yet where you got it from and what it is called? It’s good to see us (how do you call it?) more mature crowd riding around on these things. I just hit 62 last Friday on Aug 9th. Safe riding! Mark P.S. I have a RUclips channel too! If you click on my face it should take you there. I only have 4 months under my belt but with over 200 miles.
Hey Mark, congrats. I'm a year younger than you, nice to have people our age staying adventurous. There's a few questions and comments we're I've addressed this question more than once. I'm sure you can find the info in those comments. It's not cheap, but it is very cool at what it does. I can sell you a sheet if you're interested. Assuming you're in the states.
@@mikethewheelchairguy I’m in NY. How much you asking for a sheet?
@@EUC_Senior a sheet is approx. 10" x 20". You'll only be using a 3rd of it, but you can only buy it in sheet form. I'll ship one sheet new in an opened box for $100. If you're interested?
@@mikethewheelchairguy let me think about this and I will get back to you.
I live in Lynn. Rolling on a v11 also. Just Trying to network a bit in the Boston EUC community, meet some riders. Appreciate your videos. What material did you make the Velcro backplate out of?
I think I have a video of the final finish backing plate
That was a test plate, the final version should have more details. Check some of the other videos. 1/8" aluminum plate.
@@mikethewheelchairguy great thank you I’ll check it out.
Hi Micheal, I also live in your area, I had a couple questions about your EUC and always nice knowing other riders locally. What is best way to contact? I am on my phone and didn’t see an email through the app. Maybe I can find it on a pc.
Find me on messenger I'm in Tewksbury Ma
@@mikethewheelchairguy will do thanks so much!!!
How does this compare to the Wilson Baiardo L? Both seem similar on paper while some say the ghost 2 is actually much easier to use. Thoughts ?
I admire the design and workmanship of your mounting plates. Well done!
Where did you get the pull out tray
How do you like the NyloNove pedals so far? Do they feel like they have more "give" to make the ride more comfortable?
The flex isn't as noticeable as I had hoped for. I mean, it's not like I'm able to ride an extra hour due to increased comfort. I do feel and prefer the difference over the rigid aluminum pedals, though. So far, no complaints, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase them again for my next wheel, still to be determined.
@@mikethewheelchairguy Thank you for the update. So far I haven't seen a comparison video between Nylonove, eRides, and Clark pedals so I'm trying to decide which one to pick.
Hey Bro if you put some hidden power wheels on that baby you'd never have to get up to get your TV SNACKS😉
Too funny, bro. Hadn't considered that. That'll have to be the post-retirement version 2.0 😂
Cool ride, interesting city, architecture and cultural events.
Nice channel you got here, Mike. Great to see guys your age out staying young on EUCs. I’m not far behind you.
Hey Mike. Is that your home garage workshop or is that at your business? Very impressive. I also see you string tennis racquets! Same here. So i picked up that Roto adaptor pad and was wondering how you adhere it to the wheel? The backing is smooth rubber and the velcro does not stick well. Thinking of spray some 3M glue and waiting til it’s tacky then trying the velcro. Maybe have to rough up the rubber with sandpaper first? Thoughts?
Thanks! Serves both, my home away from home. So, I have never had a problem with getting tapes or hook and loops to adhere to the roho product. You'll just want to wipe it clean with rubbing alcohol for best adhesion. The challenge is the V11 saddle area, it's made of a funky foam rubber that won't let anything adhere very well. I'm using a 3M VHB double-sided tape that has held for a long time now. It's not like a permanent strong type of mount (I could peel it off easy enough without too much effort), but it does the job. Very important, though, you'll need to wipe that area well with rubbing alcohol. You want to take the shine off the surface, which is what you want. You can also use 3M primer 94. Comes in pints, get it from Amazon. That'll provide best possible prep for getting tapes to stick to difficult surfaces as well. Good luck.
Great concise review and will be purchasing these soon. As a newbie and about to purchase a secondhand V11, what protective products do you recommend I install to somewhat save the EUC from looking trashed while I am learning? I've seen folks do some crazy foam and pool floaty type wraps with duct tape but i'd prefer to make it look a little classier than that! thanks in advance.
Thank you! I never used any protective devices other than on my body 😃 when learning how to ride this wheel. I did scratch up the plastic around the headlight but never broke anything. I would advise riding on a soft surface initially until you can maneuver comfortably and get on and off the wheel in a controlled way, using both sides/legs before moving onto asphalt. Smooth dry uniform lawn or outdoor rubber running track surface. This way, when you fall, the wheel doesn't take a beating. Or your body 😜. Enjoy!

Love the look of your cushy upper pads! Where'd you get them?
Made by Roho/Permobil, Called a "adaptor cushion" Air filled nods, cut to size. About $110 Us dollars for a 13"x9" piece, plenty to do both sides. Used in the wheelchair rehab seating components industry.
🙄-Recieved a Notice from frank after contacting Nylonova peddels. There not gonna do V13 Peddels because there isn't enough demand so you may wanna go to Ewheels for Wolverines instead.
You are always so detail oriented!
Nice side customizations mate!
How is the wheel holding up
Awesome! So happy with my purchase. I would definitely make the same choice again if I had to do it over. Just bought some aftermarket pedals that I'll be adding next week.
Great video! When you release the linear tensioner after clamping, the clamps seem to move back a little. Seems like they have a little give. Doesn’t that reduce the overall tension?
The drawback you're referring to would be common in almost any machine, at least under the 6,000 dollar price point. Some of this is flex in the base clamp and some is the natural tolerance in the vertical telescopic clamp post that goes up and down. Most of this will be recovered on the next proceeding pull. All of it? I doubt it, but it is inherent in all of the machines that I'm aware of. I've never had the privilege of stringing on a high-end Babalot or Yonex machine like in the 10,000 to 12,000 price range. I'd be interested myself to know whether the clamp base and the clamp post have zero tolerance to eliminate this drawback entirely. Maybe somebody out there that's had the experience on a 10,000 plus dollar machines would have an answer to this question?
@@mikethewheelchairguy Thank you for your reply. I've been reading more about it, and some do indeed claim that most will be recovered at the next pull. Logically after a few of these tension could drop, and I think the solution could simply be to increase the tension by 1 or 2 lbs to compensate for this effect during the stringing process. I was considering a Pro Stringer which has flying clamps, which would likely have an even bigger drawback effect. I'm simply planning on playing with the tension to compensate... I don't have the space nor the money for a $6k+ machine. 😛
I like that slide out tray....amazon find?
Hi sir, is that a good machine? Did you have any problem with that until now?
still performs without any issues. very happy with the machine. however, at the current price I would probably choose the prince 7000. for a few hundred more you get bang for your buck.
Same issue on both of my v11s , 1 has a bearing issue and im wondering if its related. It does affect the ride at high speeds on both wheels as well
Hi- I’ve enjoyed watching your videos. Very informative! I noticed you haven’t done any new ones with your V 11 in a while. Is everything OK? I’m new to EUC’s I have a V5F but just ordered a V11 myself.
Hey Harry, thank you for the concern. Everything is well. Been busy without much opportunity to ride. I think you made an amazing choice on the v11, I've been very happy with my purchase and I think it's a great entry to mid -level purchase.
@@mikethewheelchairguy Good! Glad to hear it. Well not glad to hear you have not had time to ride, but that you are ok. It's good to be busy though. Interesting business you mentioned. I am a real estate agent and am shifting my business towards seniors, being that I am 63 myself. Is your wheelchair business local to New England?
I am in Massachusetts, about 30 minutes north of Boston.
was this machine an upgrade from a prior machine? have you ever used the pull clamp type? thoughts?
I use to have a crank machine. Got the job done, but there's nothing like a constant pull machine with a locking table. More accurate and certainly more pleasurable to use.
Thanks for this content
I did the similiar, but to the honeycomb pedals at the point they touch the brackets. The angle was killing my ankles as well. I used a file. That method is a little less precise than yours. I used an angle finder to make sure both pedals were the same. I used some calipers to scribe a "file to" line. Took a small of material off both and tried it. Nope. I opened the calipers a couple off mill more to scribe a new line and removed more material. Yes. It worked out. I was comfortable with about 8 degrees lower. Made a huge difference in comfortability which increases ride time. I would say it did not effect the structural integrity. Im 250lb and have 5000km on the V11 and there was no sign a structural rigidity loss. If you ask me those honeycomb pedals are over built. Your V11 looks good and I can tell you have excellent crafstmanship.
I'm glad that it worked out for you. Nice job! Thank you for the kind words!
Sounds good, I'm trying to do something similar, how long more or less did you file each pedal? I'm having a hard time filing in a consistent way and scared of taking off too much.
@thaer12345 I would say the shiny filed line was an 8th of inch wide. It wasn't much at all. If you're filling without some way to check the angle, file a little at a time. You will have to do more fitment procedures to see what feels good to you. I have over 5k miles on the same pedals, same brackets. At some point, i did get new pins. Im assuming you have the V11.
Where I can buy it?
.... CAN U give dimensions of plate as of now? Constructing for different wheel but getting v11 soon so I want it to fit as PERFECT as yours!!! Great job!!! Tanx.
Give me a few days. I'm out town at moment.
Okay, so I started out with 12" x 12" plates 1/8" thick so that I'd have enough space to move my power pads around and experiment with the ideal location for me! I'd recommend that you do the same since we are likely different sizes and weight. For reference I weigh 145 pds, 5' - 10". After a few weeks of dialing in my pads location, I took everything apart and trimmed down my plates to the following, R to L bottom 10-1/4", R to L top 9", top to bottom is 11-3/8", so the toe box section would be 2-3/8" top to bottom, and 1-1/4" to the front. Hope this helps. Good luck. But like I say, I'd start with oversized and then trim them down later once you're certain that they suit you perfectly.
@@mikethewheelchairguy ... ah ha,, yes, I see what u'r saying!! I was thinking of making them and adjusting myself to th pads,, lol. I ordered my v11 yesterday,, shipped today,, so,, I should get it in about a week! Using 1mm steel plate (washing machine lid) a pair of old rubber wellie boots and a can of builders foam!!!,, lol. I see I'm going to hav to take a different approach, using trial and adjustment, before using th foam,,, tanx for that!!!
@@mikethewheelchairguy .. can u please tell me th depth of u'r pads???
@@mikethewheelchairguyDid you use the original screws to tighten it down?
Great mod. It almost looks like those plates you trimmed can come out and sub in thinner ones? Cheers
Excellent 👍
Where can I buy overpads?
Grizzlapads.com is where I purchased from.
Nice! Good solution and well explained.👍
Hey Mike, Do those Roho adapter pads require inflation? Most of these I've seen require being pumped up with air? Thx!
No, they do not. The larger cell applications like seat cushions have a valve to tweak desired pressure, but these smaller low profile pads are non adjustable. Hope this helps.
I've got 5K miles on my V11 with no pads. I've been on a few people's EUCs with pads on them and frankly it feels extremely dangerous. If you ever fall with your feet locked into that thing you're going to be REALLY sorry. I've seen a guy break his wrist and he had to have surgery because he couldn't get out of his and he wasn't going more than 7 MPH. I know a lot of riders use them but I'll pass.
You are correct! However, it depends what type of rider/riding you wish to do. For me personally, I like to be aggressive on jumps, stairs, trails, etc. You can not do these things without pads.
Good job. Nice to know you
Mine came like this as well. It rode fine and I put 600 miles on but once I got my Sherman it collected dust but my plan had been to fix the issue when the tire wore down since those CST 1488 tires barely last 1500 miles lol In the end I just decided to sell it but the used market is terrible right now after Alien Rides had that crazy sale.
Alright friend great 2023 for you and family! Can you help me with one question please! I did the v11 reset on the advice of a group, now it doesn't want to turn on! Do you have any suggestions for it to turn on? when I put it to charge the power comes on normally ! thanks hugs!
Sorry friend, I have never had to do this procedure and am not familiar with it. I would contact Inmotion tech support, I hear they are very good.
Nice video, thanks! Your volume was very low.
Grizzila pads? The name is right there on the pads. It's Grizzla.
Whoops! Good catch, I'm on it. Thanks.
Are such power pads really a must have thing for v11? I don't mean to bash the concept, but having v5f (v11 is still on its way to me) i have a feeling that they would restrict my free leg movement.
If you want to ride aggressive? There a must have! Sure they lock you in more than having nothing, but that's what allows you to do things that you otherwise wouldn't be able to do. Really depends what type of rider you are. Of course, it's just a personal choice. You'll never know though until you've tried some kind of pads.
@@mikethewheelchairguy Ah makes sense! v5 is not really an aggresive thing electrically.
@@Laenthal .. lol, i think that's th point,, it is IF u want it to be!!!
@@mikethewheelchairguy well, after having 2400kilometers on my v11 with inmotion pads on i can say that it's better with them than without. However i really like their slim profile, so that they dont hamper seated ride and general everyday hopping on and off. Grizlas seem to be way too wide
I tried the Inmotion pads you're referring to. Didn't work for me, but I don't ride seated either. Glad they work for you.
Is there anyway that I can get a template for this aluminum plate
Just start with 12" x 12" 1/8" thick aluminum. Center it on the machine, match up and mark were to drill the holes to secure. If your not comfortable with these steps then I wouldn't try to do it on your own without someone to help you. Good luck
I just got one like this, my wheel was slightly left centered, rode just fine but it really bugged me. Typed up an email and provided measurements with images so Inmotion replaced it no questions asked. My favorite wheel company by far when it comes to customer service. I suggest you get a digital micrometer and send them the measurements.
Hmmmm, very interesting. They told me to ignore and that it wouldn't affect the use. But like you say, it's really bothering me too. I'm gonna reach out to them again. Thank you for the advice.
@Michael Arsenault They are very correct it'll ride fine. But I have a feeling you're like me and want perfection at this price point. Persistence is key here, Inmotion likes happy customers. Tell them how much you love the company and it'll take you far. I've gotten kickstands, panels, extra shock caps etc just by being exceedingly nice.
