    A common thing you might want to do is drill them hollow. That way they twist a bit more before snapping entirely. Very common for people using the original rear diff in drag cars etc.

    After putting the shafts back in, do you just hammer it back in to re-seat the bearings in the diff?

    • @tracklizard4018
      @tracklizard4018 Месяц назад

      It should slide in smoothly. Having done this a lot I've never had to hammer them in. They just click in and you press a little. If anything the bearing will be the issue but I throw SKF LGMT2 on it.

    Ohhh you have a lot of patience, i done my 960 T5 swap in 8 days and i thought thats long lol, 960 from 96, wireloom from 850 m4.3 , engine and all sensors from v70 2001 t5, and m4.4 with COP mod, i had to go through all diagrams where what wire goes but it was quite easy imo... Probably t6 swap would take me bit less time but not sure because less modification with mechanical parts.. probably more electrical wich i now understand very well after spending 40h reading 960, 850 and v70 wiring diagrams 🤣

    • @tracklizard4018
      @tracklizard4018 Месяц назад

      There are longer and shorter versions and generally speaking the longer ones are more commonly found in the older vehicles. Most important is honestly to just put them in the same way they sat prior to removal if used. If you switch L/R you'll end up twisting them opposite of how they've been twisted for the past 30 years.

    Maxx ecu terminated engine harness is a great solution, but you clearly have proven that is missing somethings. They should off some extensions for people who want take the guess work out of modifying an already high quality engine harness.

    • @driftbricker

      Yeah I agree, everything is great, knock sensors would be my only complaint as they should be there stock I think?

    • @tylerdomond1087

      @@driftbricker yes they should be

    • @driftbricker
      @driftbricker 7 месяцев назад

      Also it’s not a stock t5 harness hence VAG coils and lambda sensor, so you’d think they would include, or as you say have the option to include things like fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp etc

    Hello from British Columbia, Canada! I bought a 2001 V70XC a couple of years ago after the water pump bearing failed causing the timing belt to jump. The pistons came up against open valves and caused serious damage. The previous owner decided to sell the car instead of making the repair. Luckily, because of this known damage, I picked the car up for a bargain price. Then the work began. I sourced a rebuilt head and installed it successfully, doing all my own work. I have been working on cars for years but this was my first Volvo. Even though the car is running well now, I am continually aware of the fragility of the components withing the timing belt-train that can cause a similar failure. I see that you chose not to replace the water pump during the making of this video. May I suggest that you get a good quality OEM or Aisin brand water pump and get it in there. I have seen first hand what can happen when the water pump bearing fails. I have a whole playlist of videos that you may find of interest, including the video I filmed of the car arriving by tow truck and my initial inspection of the components. Good luck on your RUclips journey. I've subscribed!
