    Hey great podcast im late to finding tour channel but really enjoying it. Researching chatterbaits would have you believe the Jackhammer is the only one to have… any opinions on that? They are pricey, but get a lot of love. Are they really worth it?

    • @averageontarioanglers
      @averageontarioanglers 5 дней назад

      They are awesome for sure but definitely overpriced. For something almost as high end the new Z Man Evo chatterbaits are very similar. We’ve fished them side by side noticing little difference ourself. I’m sure jackhammers are marginally better but they cost 2x the money so not worth it for me. If I was fishing for money I’d likely use jackhammers but as an average angler they are hard to buy 🤣

      @jaybert6863 4 дня назад

      Agreed and thanks so much for the input. Also looking at some made in Ontario ones like the jacked up jigs etc. you have mentioned in other podcasts do you find they are right up there as solid options as well ?

    • @averageontarioanglers
      @averageontarioanglers 4 дня назад

      @@jaybert6863 jacked up jigs and other local brands make solid, quality pieces for sure. For the best blade start up possible the trademark blade to head connect that Z man offers definitely gives them an edge in performance though

    Just buy a boat comment is the dumbest thing you can say.... Trying to compare a 10k rigged out kayak to a 100k bass boat is ridiculous...I used to really enjoy your podcasts but that's just ended it...

    • @averageontarioanglers
      @averageontarioanglers 7 дней назад

      We did not compare buying a 10k kayak to a 100k bass boat. I said buy a boat at that point, not buy a 100k bass boat at that point. That’s my opinion, we’re all entitled to one. You can easily buy a fully rigged used 14-16ft fishing boat for around 10k and that’s what I personally would prefer.

    1. Location • Weed Beds and Structure: Pike tend to hang around weed beds, submerged logs, and other structures where they can ambush prey. Look for areas with dense vegetation, especially near drop-offs or in the mouths of bays. • Deeper Water: As water temperatures rise in late summer, pike may move to deeper, cooler water. Focus on areas with deeper channels, holes, or points near shallow flats. 2. Time of Day • Early Morning and Late Evening: Pike are more active during low-light conditions. Early morning and late evening are prime times to fish for them. 3. Lures and Baits • Spinnerbaits and Bucktail Spinners: These lures create vibration and flash, which can trigger pike to strike, especially in weedy areas. • Jerkbaits and Crankbaits: These can be effective in deeper water. Opt for larger baits that mimic the size of prey like perch or small bass. • Soft Plastics: Swimbaits and soft plastic frogs work well in shallow weedy areas. • Live Bait: Large minnows or suckers can be deadly when fished under a bobber or on a drift rig in deeper water. 4. Presentation • Slow Retrieve: Pike are often less aggressive in warmer water, so a slower, more methodical retrieve can be more effective. • Erratic Action: Adding pauses and jerks to your retrieve can entice a pike to strike, as it mim
