What a coincidence, we're looking at the same cruise next year on the Odessey of the Seas. Hoping to be retired by then. Fingers crossed. We we're on the Odessey last year, and our favorite restaurant was Giovannis.
Hi @richardcoffland, how exciting that your retirement is coming up soon! We'll also keep our fingers crossed with you. Our favorite dish at Giovanni's is the gorgonzola gnocchi....so delicious! Definitely do the transatlantic cruise if you are able....you will love it!
Such great reasons! I did a transatlantic from Barcelona to Port Canaveral on the Wonder. I figured if I was going to be at sea for 8 days, I wanted to be on the largest ship (at that time) and have time to enjoy it. Did you have trouble with jet lag going from US to Europe? It was great coming back from Europe as we gained an hour a day while at sea and there was no jet lag. Thanks for sharing.
Great question! What we found very interesting is that the time change was done differently both times. The first trip, the captain came on at noon with the updates and then announced the time change to 1pm. The second time, the changes happened in the middle of the night. We found that the noontime change actually worked better as we never lost any sleep and had no effects on us. Loosing an hour of sleep multiple days in a row did slow us down just a bit but nothing that bad.

love the vids keep them coming! question for you, on some royal fb groups I'm in I saw people talking about the myvegas app(where you get rewards that can be redeemed for discounts or free things like $100 of on board credit etc) wondering If you have done anything like that and if so how did it turn out? was it any better of a deal?
First, thanks for watching! We have not used the myvegas app so we cannot share firsthand knowledge. We can share that myvegas seems to be the official app of MGM Resorts and MGM Rewards. The model is that they are trading rewards with you for running advertisements and also promoting in-app purchases. We suggest that you read up more on the reviews, especially the current reviews as this slot apps do change year to year on how they run. Again, thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

We found all excursions in Italy to be enchanting but we did feel that we needed more time at each place to truly appreciate what was there. For the future we would love to walk up the Leaning Tower and in Florence, go into many of the museums, churches and historical building that we just did not have time to do. Great advice! Staying loyal to one cruise line to earn points and member benefits can add up to great savings over time. Also, opting to let the cruise line 'select your room' instead of selecting a specific room yourself can save some $$.

instead of opting for insurance through the cruise line go with a 3rd party company. Its typically cheaper and offers more coverage

When I booked our next cruise with Royal, I had to book a guaranteed Balcony, since they had none available. My husband wasn't happy , so I repriced the cruise and found a spacious ocean view balcony $250.00 cheaper. That same room yesterday was $1800.00 more than we paid. And still I keep rechecking.....

Went to Rome with a Royal tour and missed the Jewish Ghetto. Definitely must return. That pizza and tiramisu class looked fun and yummy. I will definitely look up Rick Steves’ walking tours. Thanks for the great in-depth video.
Thanks for your kind words. We certainly have taken and enjoyed our share of shore excursions but we really love when we do our own so we can be in charge of our own time. This day was a perfect example!
I was going to suggest the waterproof bag and put clothes in there with sheet detergent. Also, the shower walls/ceiling are magnetic and I use those to hang my clothes to dry (after I roll them in the towel). Also, roll your clothes and then put them in the supplied laundry bag. On Wonder transatlantic I had some T-Shirts washed and they ruined half of them. Don’t let them wash the nice stuff.

I haven’t been on the Odyssey but was on Anthem. Loved the North Star, bumper cars and the Ifly! I don’t recall the amount of singers and dancers, but the shows were great.
This was our first Quantum class ship and we really enjoyed it! Odyssey being a Quantum "plus" version may account for the experience being a step up from Anthem. We also love the transatlantic cruises as it affords a very relaxed feel on board with plenty of time to enjoy the ship. As always, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!!
Great video comparing all the classes. Until I have a grandchild, I have no interest in going on the Icon. I’ve been on at least one ship for every class (and even the Monarch, which is no longer). I love the Oasis class and the Freedom class the best, but have been on all the Voyager ships the most, but it is a little limited in food and the casino is small. Sailing Utopia in August.
Utopia! Lucky you. We've been watching that one. We also love Oasis and Freedom classes. We are waiting for the prices to drop before booking on Icon.

Powdered detergent works pretty well for hand washing because it is easy to adjust the amount used. I have found washing with liquid makes my hands feel excessively sticky, clothes were fine. If you want to get really fancy get a waterproof bag( not plastic grocery bag or ziploc) put water, detergent and clothes in seal the bag and agitate. Then you can rinse out with clean water and let dry

I repriced many times on our last cruise. We booked through Costco Travel and then I called Costco Travel back every Monday to see if the prices had dropped. About 5 times it had and I saved a few thousand on our family's 2 cabins, all for a few minutes on the phone every week.
Job well done! Well worth the effort. In the near future we will be sharing a video about the lowest priced times to cruise.

Nice video. I was talking to my kids and used the analogy that the Voyager/Freedom Class is like the Disneyland of Royal Caribbean, while the Oasis/Icon would be the Disney World. Both are very amazing, excellent activities, food but distinctly different and really based on preferences. We are going in Utopia soon and can’t wait
That is a great analogy. Our next two cruises are on smaller ships but we always find that we are pleasantly surprised with the more classic feel of the venues, bars and overall experience. No, we can't take the Ultimate Abyss as a short cut to the Boardwalk area but there are always "wow" things aboard. Enjoy Utopia, we saw that the shipyard officially transferred it over to Royal yesterday. :)

Instead of buying a device for each of you, why not buy 1 person and 2 devices for the internet which would have been cheaper and you can both be on at the same time?
@brianweber8706 - great catch as we did say 2 plans but misspoke as we should had said two devices on one plan. It is indeed a better deal. I will say it took us a day or two to figure out the best management of that with our 4+ devices that we would connect to our two slots. We just got good at logging off the Wi-Fi connection so the app didn't knock off one on its own. Thanks for watching and hope some of our other videos have been entertaining and informative.

We want to clarify the drink package status with the Bionic Bar. You CAN use your drink package there for up to the same $14 drink cost limit at other bars. The Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle drink vouchers DO NOT work there. Please share your thoughts about Odyssey of the Seas, the most recent Quantum Class ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet!
You used to be able to use drink package at bionic bar. I did last cruise. Hope it hasnt changed.

This class of ship along with Royal's larger class ships have many choices. The smaller class ships still have at least a few speciality restaurants along with the main dining room and buffet. Thanks for viewing!
I loved the clear walkway where you could see the water below. Having never been on a cruise ship, I noticed a couple things..I think I saw some chairs in the hot tubs/pools. Also, you mentioned Windjammer, I believe. I assume it's a restaurant. The views are beautiful. Love the color of the water! ❤
Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, there are some chairs built in the pools, primarily in the solarium (adults only area). And, you are correct, the Windjammer is a large buffet that is on every Royal Caribbean ship. It's a great option for a quick bite/snack or if you don't feel like going to the dining room. Some cruisers use the Windjammer almost exclusively because there are so many options.
I never knew you could reprise cruises!
It's possible that lots of people are not aware of this. We've re-priced several cruises since we learned about this. It's a huge money-saving tip! Thank you for watching.
