Bradley Hughes on the use of the forearms
Great players need not be good coaches.
I took up bowling.
Swing smooth and under control Keep your head down and eyes on the ball Follow through It is literally that simple folks.
That poor man's got to listen to that crap
If you do Michael Ayers clawed right hand you have the makings of Hogan’s secret move for power and accuracy without hurting your body. It’s like you roll the mat up in your right arm going back and roll it back out on the through swing, couldn’t be easier if you figured it out. The clawed right hand at the top it’s the key
D(add 4), Gmaj7(add 2), Emin9(add 4), A7(sus 4). Thank you!
Steve Elkington was a great player. Steve Elkington would never have become even a good player if he had taken lessons from himself. The golf swing takes less than two seconds and Elkington has given this poor soul 25 things to think of in that two seconds. Horrible instruction.
Good stuff. 👍
this is an atrocity, good lord.
Wish the twirl was explained. That was a new one for me.
one swing thought 🤔
Yikes!
It appears Elk mentally sacked Dilfer at the 8 minute mark.
This is my second viewing, I have 48 more to go. This Aussie is lightyears ahead everyone else
Thank you so much for posting this video!! I’ve looked all over and couldn’t find a single video or tab sheet that had this song. You are a savior and I can’t thank you enough🙌🏽🙌🏽
I think when you boil it all down...the elk is ultimately saying the lower body triggers the downswing 🎨
And then the right elbow…..then twirl…..then lower the right arm arm…..then turn like hell?
Love the swing.
Man I miss the simplicity of these days people just love making it harder.
Do you have any more Bradley Hughes videos?
Well done video. Great job
He is mentally fucked now haha 11 years later he is still thinking about all of this😁
Interesting elk. There’s so much information here there’s one thing that’s far more important than the rest. My sense is it’s the neck tilt- For those who already smashed down on it hard. Correct me if I’m wrong if you would
I struggled with coordinating the start of the downswing as illustrated @ 4:00 for years until a golf instruction book I read suggested the action is very similar to tossing a flat rock over the surface of a pond sidearm, something most do reflexively with a “wind up and pitch” lateral shifting of hips and SIDEBENDING of the spine. That drill made me realize the action my swing had been missing was the side bend action. When I started to sidebend at the top of the backswing I realized that as in tossing the stone sidearm the sidebending action triggers a reflexive lateral shift of the hips because it is the subconscious brain’s solution for keeping the body in balance on the feet. If you isolate the side bend action above the hips at the top of the backswing you will see that doing nothing other than sidebending will move the hand down and forward in a circle causing the trail arm to tuck back into the rib cage. The fact the side bend action can be triggered at any point in the backswing to move the hands down opposite the direction momentum is pulling the club head mass allows the bending and loading of the shaft against the resistance of the inertia of the club head. To keep the shaft bend and loaded requires keeping the hands pulling down against that inertia and not letting the club head mass velocity catch up to that of the hands. That is accomplished by progressively increasing the amount of side bend during the swing and by allowing the lead arm mass to freely fly down off the chest as the shoulder come back to parallel. It is as easy as tossing a rock across a pond once your conscious brain accepts on a intellectual level that’s how it actually works. I find the easiest way to get golfers to grasp this is to first pose them statically where hip, shoulders, hands and club head need to be not at impact but at the point the ball releases off the face of the club straight to target. That’s the goal. That makes them realize to get into that ideal impact position they need to have quite a bit of sidebend in the spine, which had been lacking before. Once they know where they need to get to they can stand up into the conventional “everything parallel” address position, swing to the top and back down to that same position. Just as with skipping the stone their reflexive brains will figure out how to laterally shift hips and side bend to get them back there.
To be honest, the head tilt at address makes that side bend a breeze
Elk has got him all messed up lol
Only 137 swing thoughts..how simple
Awesome. The swing I want to copy
It may be a myth, but I heard that Ben Hogan was once asked for a one-word description of the golf swing. "Sideways," he said.
Is it possible that, by rotating the forearms in the backswing, they automatically or unconsciously, rotate in the downswing.
I’ve been wondering the same thing, from my trials I seem to believe that it does
This is painful to watch. Absolute lunacy. Swing lasts 1.5 seconds and he’s conveying 32 swing thoughts. I followed Elkington at Harding Park 4 years ago. He laid the sod over a pitching wedge from 120 yards. He was doing these super strange practice swings and you could see his caddy visibly frustrated. My favorite is “the twirl.”
first he talking about inches of his right arm against his body then inches around his feet. he doesn't explain what he's talking about..really stupid instruction ..
Elkington has a great swing but no way can anyone think about his positions when swinging the club. His explanation is far too complicated. Furthermore, I doubt he's doing what he says when he swings. If you've more than one swing thought you have too many according to the great John Jacobs.
I played this course. Fun track.
Brother you have a very smooth swing you look like a pro
The secret . . . KEEP YOUR REAR FOOT and HEEL DOWN until after impact
What is the twirl?
For some reason I still hit behind the ball or top it when I try this method or any method? I am doing something wrong I haven’t figured out. You hit it so cleanly. I have hardly ever had that pure strike you are doing.

Get your weight on to your left side where your belly button is ahead of the ball.. The reason you hit fat is because your weight is on your right side behind the ball
@@todddavis5433 Thanks for the feedback. It has been a struggle.
Best swing ever! Can’t figure out if he is nuts or a genius.
A bit of both. Haha
It’s almost like the spirit of Mel Gibson inhabits Elk when he teaches.
Could you mute everything except the dog and see if that’s the key?
Best explanation i have heard, I was experiment with cocked left wrist at the range and I found that the I was hitting solid and straight shots, but I have always heard this was not proper that you should have a bowed left wrist. Thank for confirming
Hi Karl fantastic swing! Since I am a right handed player thé twirl action takes place for me when I deliberately and abruptly turn the knuckles of both my hands clockwise as my body rotates counterclockwise at the transitional part of my downswing. Is this how you do it as well? This One Action works on any method of golf as well as you just demonstrated on your Channel lock swing. In fact the clockwise twirling of my club is my one and only swing thought as ground forces takes place and my swing becomes automatic. Cheers
Steve you may be a great player; but way too much overloading BS especially when the twirl is simply abruptly turning the knuckles of both hand clockwise at the top of every right handed golfers swing; and as their body rotates counterclockwise; ground forces naturally takes place and the body react. Period!
I think it’s what Mike Austin meant when he said “throw it from the top.” I tried this today and loved the results.
too convoluted. he may have won a major but a teacher he is not.
Is Elk intentionally F-ing with Dilfer here? haha
Pearls of Wisdom. Thanks for sharing this. Very concise and powerful information.
So you are hitting with your right arm?
I get the right arm stuff if that is what it is?
