We need the economic boost. Despite having a home close by on the Brazos I work in Austin Texas. Id love to help boost my economy closer to home

Looks like it's been confirmed that they are NOT getting the additional $24 Million needed to finish this project. Poor Mineral Wells hung their hopes on this and just like that, it's over

If spent 😢the best summers of my life with my Nanny and Pawpaw on their farm between Mineral Wells and the County Seat of Palo Pinto. Every weekend we kids would jump in the back of Pawpawa’s truck and we would all ride in to Mineral Wells to get groceries at the Piggly Wiggly and often visit the Five and Dime where we kids would make sure to see real X.Rays of our feet. Mineral Wells was a very small town back then, and the Baker Hotel could be seen from almost everywhere. My sister had all over plaque psoriasis all her life. We would go to the hotel where she would bathe in the mineral baths that made me Baker Hotel famous all over the world. I have watched all the RUclips videos chronicles of the hotel from the haunting hunters and the very sad defamation of the grand old lady, but none of that took me back like discovering she is getting a facelift. Yours is the second one of the great event I have seen, the first being on a somewhat early on walk around where getting the lights turned on was the issue. I see your video was first posted a year ago, and y’all have made great strides. Hopefully there will be more video updates to come. I am 75 now and hope to still be alive when she is opened again. It would be wonderful to spend opening night with her. Thank you.

Mr. Baker probably went to the Mission Inn Hotel in Riverside, Calif. as they also had an Olympic size swimming pool in front of the Hotel built in 1947.

Trying to re-imagine such an icon would be odd. My Grandparents stayed in this Hotel and my Great Aunt did as well. I hope you get it together soon so I can take her back to it.

This whole video was just about spending money on the main floor. Nothing about work on guest rooms, bathrooms, plumbing, court yard with the pool or anything else. Not everything needs a bar.

Your reverence for this building is really cool. “She earned her keep, she stays.” I am loving this rabbit hole I have discovered tonight! Having been born when this building shut its doors, I hope my 52nd birthday takes place soaking in that Crazy Water. Thank you for the time spent bringing her back.

Mark I worked at the Baker in the 60s. I was an elevator operator and bellman. Is there a way I could check the employee records to see if my name shows up. I think they would be great heirloom.

I know this video is old…but I could swear I was in that Hotel in the early 80’s. My BF at the times mother was working there as a manager for a Bingo night for the elderly. I wasn’t under the impression anyone was living there, but there was entertainment. Am I crazy? Or was it the other Big old Hotel that’s there in MW? (Which I can’t remember the name of)

Hey Mark, it's Mike from the Driskill hotel job! Stumbled on this from the article in the Chronicle. Baker job looks very interesting.

I visited there as a kid in the 1960’s. My dad was a member of the Lost Battalion, 131st field artillery; POWs during WWII. They had several of their annual reunions there in the 60’s.

What has been the most challenging part of the restoration so far? Would love to visit one day.

How did we go from 450 guest rooms to 165? That sounds quite pathetic for a long overdue renovation of a beloved place. My personal opinion is the place is sketch, its haunted and I feel like renovation might flop. Nice to see it open in my lifetime (maybe) but some places are meant to be left abandoned. Baker Hotel should just be a abandoned open tourist sight. The renovation if successful will bring hope to Mineral Wells, but its just like why even bother. I think its ruining its true history and originality modernizing a hotel thats been abandoned since 72'. With relentless ghost encounters and where bizarre creepy people been known to hangout in. The dark spirits dont leave a place cause it has new lights and painted walls, Baker Hotel will always be the same.

It seems like these people don’t want to restore this hotel back to how it original was. A bar doesn’t belong right inside the door. They have lost their mind!
