I’m with you for this series! Thanks.
I love you man.
Let's talk about the unison ad where the genius specimen says, "my inspiration is just comin and flowin." Yeah it's great. Musical genius there.
Everyone, be sure to repent of your sins and get ready. Jesus is coming. I will do the same. Much love!
Big fan of urs
Sir thanks for all ur valuable guidance that u shared. Heartiest thanks once again. Love u sir
Hi Jonathan, thank you for the tour. It looks incredible! I have a question regarding Sequoia. Are you still using that software as your mastering DAW. I am looking to buy this as a mastering DAW to help me switch out of production headspace (Studio One) and have always felt a strong pull to this DAW. However I can't find much training or information to see whether this DAW is still as good of an option as it was years ago when I last researched the DAW. Is it still being developed and do you know of any training available? I would love to learn its capabilities before spending 3k on it. Thanks!
Hi Jonathan, I am busy with ISR codes, can another person access the info 'embedded' in my songs and change it to their own code and basically steal the royalties?
I have a very easy method for assigning ISRC codes to mp3 files. Do a google search for "mp3 tag express ISRC". It can batch-assign the ISRC codes for many tracks in one shot, automatically incrementing the designation code for each track. However, it can't embed the ISRC code into the wav format, at least not yet.
thx so much!
So right. I hope all mastering engineers think and do the same as you!
Thank you!!!!!!!
Dude this series is incredible
Is there an easy way to fin d ISRC and UPC codes of songs without having access to the distributor account it was uploaded from? Must I ask all my collaborators for these codes each time?
appreciate you G rip
Fantastic Video! Perfectly explained and very relaxed. 👍
Whoever disliked this... Ya moms a hoe
i can get more gain reduction using digital with it no pumping effect like analog could that be ????? for clean and precision digital
Thanks for the video, and I'd like to ask please; if I record a song in a studio in 2007 but I publish on you tube in 2014 , so, what is the ISRC code year? 2007 or 2014 ? Thank you
Thank you, that was very helpful 🙏🏼
i'm jelly
clear and uderstandable, thanks jonathan, i`ve just send it to all my customers (saves me a lot of time explaining it) if you ever come to basel switzerland, there is a drink waiting for you!
Thank You :)
I need to know how to put the ISRC and metadata on our tracks. How do I do that in our recording program in the proces of exporting? We use cubase 10
Joe C ok thanx
Thanks. Learning a lot.
If you are not sure how to embed the codes. MP3Tag allows you to embed extended fields. If you are a recording artist, just send the code with your music submission, we can add it to your song. We just do not do the metadata, since we do not know who wrote the track, etc.
It's good to know about ISRC codes. But seems like it's easier on the internet to learn how aliens have build pyramids than how to just embed a ISRC code on a WAV file (by yourself)
Green Before Did you figure it out?
@@jesse4238 ISRC codes can be encoded to mp3, m4a, AIFF, AAC, FLAC, and some others, but not WAV. I use the Codec Toolbox Manager by Sonnox. if you convert encode a WAV it'll be converted to aiff or m4a
@@dariuslipsey3217 why is wav exception?
Jesse XXX program coding specifics way above my pay grade. the ISRC website specifically does not recommend WAV files for embedding. www.isrc.com/embed_ISRC.html
@@txbu8101 One things wrong about this article: Many in the music industry still ask for WAV files before considering any other format due to a misconception that MP3 files are inferior to WAV quality. This is NOT true any longer. The MP3 format accommodates various levels of quality, called a bit rate. // Although the highest bit on mp3, you will hear the difference between mp3 and wave file if you have an ear. So, please be careful. It seems those people are not professional / not trained enough.
Is it advisable to use a mixing/tracking hardware processors for mastering, e.g. a multiband-compressor?
Very excellent perspective. Intelligent, articulate and well produced.
just from your voice recording it sounds like a lovely room!
Amazing how loud your dialogue audio is. I have my volume at about 10% and it's plenty loud. Usually even some of the best audio I hear, my volume will be at 20% to get the same perceived loudness as your audio.
Definitely a great and very informative video. I'll remember this as I journey down the audio/mastering engineer road.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, Jonathan!
Between 700 - 2K is still cheap! Mastering an album is the MOST important part of the whole process. These guys are masters when it comes to audio physics, these guys invested millions of dollars in their studios and above all: they have survived the new millennium, where the advances of technology allow every one to buy recording equipment and "record" music in their home. If they DID survived it means that they ARE REALLY OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONALS. If you really care about quality and seek to go professional with your art, have your art mastered by these guys.
cool stuff :)

Hey, Jon. What's your prefered software reverb?
Mastering mindset these days: Brickwall limit ALL THE THINGS!!!
brazil school of memes kkkk huehuehue
Dynamic range is key, so why the loudness war?
I use Wavelab to line-up songs to a CD master. But I can'ty inscribe CD text on it. Can you help me finding the good way to go?
i try to mix and master the songs of our band, have seen a lot of video's about compression, but i still not understand the need for it, i think the result is not getting better with a compressor..
I made the decision to have a professional master my music. He charges a good rate and he does a great job. I respect the process and it takes long to get good at it and requires special monitors and a room that is very different from a mix studio.
Hey man thanks for sharing that knowledge & laying it out so clear too.
if you get enough money, you could build or buy a small performance hall venue set up your studio there and master all your music on a stage to no audience.
I read that Mozart preferred a reverb time of 1.9s in performance halls and these types of measures were in use for building, when a building had longer ambient reverberation the performers of the time would choose accordingly, bach in turn preferred a longer reverb because his music was often less staccato then Mozart. I prefer to use those measures more so then just a random ear and random room displacement. In the old days of recording they would place the recorded sound in a room to gather convolution information of course, I wonder why they wouldn't play the audio on a stage in today's world before applying those settings. If I was in your shoes I would prefer to do all my work on a stage, imagine that, mastering music as if you are the performer. That would make music breathe again, it's gotten so dry and stale and lack of room sound.
You can tell he knows about audio because of his terrible shirt ;)
Nah, it's all about the collar-less shirt, bro.
