Bonk
It’s a bit like when I take my son to soft play
Currently in the process of joining the local VFD. The process here is that you start out on the same BA course that is used for the exams. To get you acquainted with the environment, you start with no mask on and no cylinder and tag along with another team. After a couple of walkthroughs you get a mask. Later, a filter is added to the mask to introduce breathing resistance. Once you have that down, you get to go with a full BA. THere are hatches, sliding doors, obstacles there you can get tangled up, and also tight passages where you even might need to take the cylinder off your back in order to fit through. You usually push it ahead of you. There will always be 2 man teams on the course. It is nearly impossible to complete alone as in places, you need to push or pull your buddy through a passage, like a 10 ft long tube. If you are in any way claustrophobic then this is most definitely NOT for you. Oh, and the BA course is rearranged once or twice a year, so your recertification will not be on the same course as last time.
We need to teach a lot more of this, and more first aid as well. I dont think the general public realises what a difference basic first aid techniques can make. You can learn CPR to at least a basic, useful level from youtube and have a first aid kit in your car with trauma bandages. Learn how to deal with shock.
thank you
Quite tough when the vision is blacked out but its a good way to demonstrate how tough is can be when faced with a real life situation fair play to the candidate he did really well
way to simple ... but thats shot in the uk.. that kind of explains it all. standards are very low over there.. (standards for food, service, medicine..you name it)
maybe education standards aren't great where you are as you can't even spell *too
Most places in the UK require you to be in full BA as well as firefighting kit. It's not as simple as how this made it look.
👍👍👍
Awesome tutorial
I’m going to be doing my tests soon. Any rough ideas of the weight of the coils etc?
I have my test next week. I have to wear glasses 24/7 they have glass lenses not plastic am I able to take them off for all the tests
There is no need to remove glasses before tests, other than the breathing apparatus enclosed space test for fitting of the mask, which has zero visibility anyway. If a candidate is successful, inserts can be provided for use when wearing breathing apparatus. Other than that, glasses can be worn, although they will need to be of a required specification.

Great Fires of London. Fireman Sam.
is the same Test will be given in any Fire service or there will be diffence between .Thank you ?
The kit assembly may be different in other brigades, but it is ultimately designed to be a test of dexterity and the ability to follow instructions.
@@northyorksfire thank you .I am really hope that I will pass my test
@@geryfit3872 if you haven’t already taken it, good luck and hope you pass! Got mine at the start of next month 😁
@@M1ttyLB I did passed my Physical and now I have an interview .I hope I will pass it .Thank you 😊
@@M1ttyLB Good Luck with yours .You will pass it !
I had an air tank on my back when I did it in July...
A steal cylinder, heat and 90 percent humidity. Oh the early 90's were fun.
Is this done on training or is it a regular test
2 days ago when I got into difficulties in a rip current in a choppy sea - a man spotted me close to the end of a jetty and had the good sense to throw it to me whilst holding the rope and drag me to a ladder on the side of the jetty
We didn't have to do it in a time when I did the the other week
No wonder Ruth Lee dummies don’t last long 😉 Well structured and safe approach 👍
Pencil pusher training....
Think that is tight, go in the rig up teesside, you have to take set off in places.
Yes…. That’s on a BA course not an entrance test.
For a sub she should know better, her kits manky, she has make up on and her hair is all over the place
are you not allowed to wear makeup?? lol
Unreal, isn't it? If you've got long hair, you shouldn't bee seeing any of it when in PPE.
she's a crew manager but other than that you are right

Hello. I wish to become a firefighter I am confident I have the physical capability but I am not sure if I able to as if ma colour bling. Will this stop me becoming a firefighter?
We’re not currently recruiting for wholetime firefighters, but do on-going recruitment for on-call firefighters. If you are interested in applying to be an on-call firefighter we would recommend downloading the information pack from our website which contains details about vision requirements. The pack can be found on this page www.northyorksfire.gov.uk/careers/latest-vacancies/on-call-firefighter/ under the section titled ‘How do I apply to become an on call firefighter’
@@northyorksfire thanks for that I’ll have a look into it. I don’t stay near North Yorkshire but I was just curious about other fire services vision requirements
well done
The man is a hero
3:08... and that's why you wear a helmet folks.
agreed
Straight, left ,right and down he said.no mention of up.
He did, you're just not hearing it. "Up or down" Audio is terrible but he did say up.
Do you have to screw the parts until they lock? Just I’ve noticed they are loose in this video. Thanks
SO 🦔
@@donnaphilbin6563 sorry Donna?
Loose so you can take it off easy after assembly
You could always get couplings on the manual dexterity test too. If you can practice these as well then you’ll have a good chance on assessment day!
That visor placed over the helmet does it obscure vision or are you completely blind???
My guess would be that it is supposed to simulate heavy smoke, so limit visibility a lot.
If I remember rightly from doing it for retained, you are completely blind and in total darkness also, absolutely 0 light on the actual test. I have this test tomorrow morning for Merseyside Fire & Rescue wholetime, so I can confirm tomorrow haha.
@@Ben_9476 How'd it go, I have the same test tomorrow morning ^^
@@konradjablonski7727 how did it go? Also how long do you have to complete the test?
@@mckenzieeleah passed everything except equipment carry where my glove fell off, the test itself is only a couple hours long, for me it depended on the time everything was set up.
Am currently going through the process now just completed my numerical, Verbal & Mechanical reasoning assessment hoping to pass.
Did you pass?
Hi thanks for the demonstration. In the test is the candidate required to wear the oxygen cylinder or not? Thanks
No there is no cylinder required just the BA mask and helmet aswell as fire kit
Thank you for this, really helpful and useful video full of valuable information. Excited to start the application process with North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service for the second time!
can i use this for a college project please?
Guy looks bored at that meeting, probably hoping for his pager to go off.
