Your arguments don't add up. The example of buying a car is like the paint etc. purchased. If there was a 'handler's fee' on top, I'd expect to see that on the invoice. The garage may well show the separate cost of a pre-delivery service etc. When I go grocery shopping I get a receipt that shows the price of each item. I don't get all my groceries and find it cost £100 in toto. My Decorator is awesome! He actually shows me receipts and gives me a breakdown of materials and labour.
I think there has been a slight misunderstanding "When I go grocery shopping I get a receipt that shows the price of each item." Exactly you get a receipt for the PRICE of the items you buy. You are not being shown what the supermarket pays to buy the items for. (their COST)
