Sadly I just read on Banditman's channel that this guy Rchard died on 9th September. RIP. Guys look after yourself. Sadly his symptoms and reason for passing might have been totally avoidable if he had taken better care of himself by NOT eating a diet full of starch, carbs, sugar, UPFs, seed oils, HFCS, additives and lots of other nasties. Stay way from fruit and veg which is full of sugar and starch. These all cause increased blood sugar levels leading to insulin resistance and lead ultimately to T2 diabetes and all the dangers this brings such as heart disease, arteriosclerosis, liver failure, cancer, cognitive impairment, dementia, glaucoma, neuropathy, kidney failure, arthritis, inflammation, psoriasis, etc, etc. Eat a LOW CARB, zero sugar diet eg clean Keto or carnivore, lots of protein and natural fats to keep blood sugar low and stable and more importantly insulin. As we age sarcopenia (loss of muscle bulk) is a real problem. You need to eat A LOT more protein, meat the best you can find grass fed and finished, eggs, sardines, mackeral, cook in butter, olive oil, NOT seed oils eg vegetable, canola or sunflower as these are HIGHLY processed and extremely inflammatory causing heart disease. Avoid foods with them in eg ultra processed foods eg wheat all grains, bread, pizza, pasta, pies, junk foods, pies, cakes, biscuits, the list UPF is long and shocking. Cook from fresh do NOT put anything with an ingredients list in your mouth unless you know exactly what the individual ingredient are. Diabetes is a killer as this guy found out. Whilst it might not kill you it will cause another serious medical condition which will. Starch, carbs which are all broken down to sugar is HIGHLY toxic to our bodies which produces insulin to try to get glucose out of our blood stream into neighbouring cells. The more sugar you eat the more dangerous for your health it becomes as your body becomes overwhelmed by sugar and insulin trying to remove it. People are just sugar junkies. Taking drugs eg Metformin is NOT a solution. Just makes the problem worse! Instead cut out all sugar and carbs, eat a lot more protein. It is highly satiating unlike carbs and sugar which are addictive and you just want to eat more and more and more. You never get full. Your blood sugar goes dangerously sky high. To avoid BPH of the prostate stay away from dairy milk and yoghurts etc which has high levels of oestrogen, female sex hormone and lactose, which inflames and causes the prostate to enlarge and block flow of urine making peeing excruciatingly painful. I know I had it a few years back. I cut out diary and massively reduced my sugar, carbs and starch intake. Problem solved. Doctors, big pharma, food manufacturers, government and other financial interests make a lot of money from people being sick and on drugs for life and from being addicted to processed foods. They have huge vested interests. If only one person takes this advice and changes their diet and lifestyle I shall be pleased I wrote this long post. Most people, particularly blokes and indeed many women who are equally unhealthy are sadly ignorant of nutrition and being active and they pay by prematurely losing their life. Eat OMAD, one meal a day, Do intermittent fasting to allow your body to reset. Do HIIT, calisthenics, yoga. lift weights to maintain muscle mass. Get in shape many older bikes are in awful shape and indeed younger ones. Get lean and strong. You will be able to ride for much longer and be a lot safer on your bike as you are fitter and can control it better. You are also much more mentally sharp. Their are over 700 videos on this YT channel of people giving FIRST hand accounts of how a Keto or Carnivore diet saved their lives where doctors could not and just wanted them on medication for the rest of their lives as medication makes them very rich. These people took control of their lives and health and reversed their quite serious medical conditions from eating a crap diet full of UPFs, wheat, grains, seed oils, HFCS, starch, carbs and sugar making them diabetic and very ill. www.youtube.com/@zerocarb Extremely sad that this gentleman didn't realise his diet and sedentary lifestyle were quite literally killing him. Be very careful what you put in your mouth. Use your body or lose it. RIP Richard.

Love the video and advice! I'm 66 and agree with all that you say. I now look at long rides and trips in their entirety...ride, scenery and stops and a good meal when I am done for the day. My last few trips I've picked a good area with good rides around and stay at a motel for a few days and explore the multiple rides and city when I get back! Thanks for the vid!

I don't mind my own company or riding with friends in my local club. The wife rides as pillion some of the time, so I have the best of all types riding. I have missed riding this past week due to covid and it seems best I stay clear of Huggy's until I am clear. Not having the choice to ride is the worst of all.. All the best John😊👍🏍

Hi John, My wife had Covid a couple of weeks ago, I didnt get it but I still avoided going Huggy's just in case. Its not good missing riding time and being stuck in home even worse if the weather is nice and good riding conditions. Hope you make a speedy recovery and hope to see you at Huggy's soon.

Hi I was planning a visit to Triumph but an old client came by to see me and by the time he left I decided it would be a bit of a rush to get there and back in time to pick my wife up from work. Yes you are right one has to make effort to keep friendships going.

Well said Richard, that's exactly what I experienced when I returned to motorcycling after my retirement, I've definitely experienced making new friends at Huggy's and other bike meets. They're great places to see interesting bikes and have a chat. I also enjoy riding alone or with friends, I guess that's what makes motorcycling such a unique hobby and perfect for old retired fogies like myself. Hope you're still on the mend, take care and best wishes, Tony.

Good vid. I'm 70 and still biking although wife stopped coming on the pillion a few years ago. Got a R1150GS which I've had since new in 2000. Can't bear to get rid of the old girl (the bike not the wife) after so long together. Had an RT camhead for a few years which is probably a "better" bike than the old 1150 but I just prefer the 1150 even though she does feel heavier than the RT. Just bought a Honda Monkey for popping down the shops and it's huge fun and just so easy to park. I prefer driving solo nowadays and will be heading off to Europe again in September as I do most years.

Hi Wobs 5 I understand that if you get a bike you love it does become hard to part company with it, same goes for our wives LOL. Fair play to you heading off to Europe on your own, I have never done that, I can get lost in our village let alone Europe Thanks for the comment ride safe

People who think they will go mad, rarely do. I think bikes are great in combating mental health issues. If you retire you still need a purpose in life or you rust. That is why I will never give up work completely.

Wise words Peter, I still see a few of my old clients as known them for years. My stepsons own a landscaping business they are both very good at what they do but lousy at paperwork, vat, payroll etc so I do all that for them but as you said it gives me a purpose, sort of makes me feel needed and useful. And then of course I have my bike and this channel which I do enjoy the filming editing etc. Thanks for the comment ride safe.
