We lost one of the great song creators when Jimi passed. In my opinion, the greatest tribute to Jimi and the best example of how great his songwriting was, is Tuck and Patti's Castles Made of Sand/Little Wing. They perfectly combine the two songs into one. One vocal....one guitar. I think it's one of the best recordings ever made.

Interesting. The cover grew on me as it went along. Good recording. Shooting Star isn't one of my favorites by Bad Company but it's certainly a classic. Straight Shooter is one of my favorite albums. Good Lovin Gone Bad Feel Like Making Love Deal With The Preacher Wild Fire Woman Those four songs along with Shooting Star tagging along make up quite the album.

Same story over and over. J Geils were successful before they were "successful". Cult following and one of the greatest party bands to hit the stage. Great live band. People should start with Give It To Me off of Bloodshot which was their breakthrough album in 1973 But they already had a gold live album in 1972. The live Blow Your Face out from 1976 is a classic live album. When it comes to the studio albums, it's all about Sanctuary in 1978. That would be the album prior to hitting the mainstream. There are good live videos on RUclips from that tour (House Party in Germany). Theresa is pretty much a must.

Eddie Van Halen was an award winning classical pianist as a child.

Great song, but there is only one Paul Rogers. Bad Co wiithout Paul is still good but not nearly as great.

If you are at all interested in country music, do a deep dive on Merle Haggard. One of his band mates commented years ago that if anyone who works music doesn’t bow deep to Merle Haggard, you shouldn’t trust them much about anything else. Merle is the greatest - and there’s not a close second. How lucky you are to be at the beginning of this journey. Enjoy!

Loved it... never heard Phoebe's version...you had to have Heard some Merle Haggard growing up one of my favs...And Bakersfield was the shit! You have heard the song Streets of Bakersfield was Dwight Yoakam and Buck Owens.. another artist from the 60's.. anyway great show👍

Billy Cox on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums, Eddie Kramer in the control room, couldn't go wrong. Always thought Jimi's songwriting took a turn of sorts around Band of Gypsys that I liked, opened up somehow, along with what he was already doing. When you're playing with panning in the mix, you can approach it with something mapped out to any degree or play it by feel. ✌🏼😀 🎶💜✨️🕊

Sometimes I feel like I'm too harsh on a band... There was some decent poetry here. I think I just had a strong distaste in the music. Other than the break down. I do think the lyrics were melodramatic but I think the story telling was nice. Some people in this universe meet each other for a short amount of time. Sometimes we know that and sometimes we don't... But if we did know it would be ending the most important thing is to let the other person know how much they meant to you.

You are right about the univibe. According to his producer Eddie Kramer, Jimi had the uncanny ability to record a solo backwards, all the while knowing exactly how it would sound after the tape was flipped back over. There are around four guitar tracks. The backwards solo and fills, two guitar effect (univibe) and one last guitar with no special effect. The univibe was probably Hendrix' favorite effect. A Similar sound was created with a Leslie speaker used in "Little Wing." This song was written as a tribute to R&B legend Curtis Mayfield, who played with Jimi early in his career.

I searched to see if anyone has ever reacted to this song on RUclips because it's a song that stayed with me since first hearing it in maybe 99-ish, it made me buy the album and I still have it on the shelf. As much as its Jimis song, this is Eddie Kramer and Alan Douglas trying to meet the production level standards of the new multitrack recording machines available after Jimis death. They both had a good input into many tracks released posthumously, but it is incredibly sad to hear what could have been if Jimi had not passed away. The complete Anthology of Jimis work in the studio is beyond mind blowing with alternate takes of popular songs.

Jimi uses backwards recording to get some of those amazing effects. Certainly used in Drifting.
