Twin Row Wheat, Applying Manure, and Toolbar Field Trial
For the 2021 growing season, we are running a field trial testing three different manure applications to wheat. We also were able to use our new transfer dumpster the for the first time. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments!

Corn Side Dress: Manure 2020
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.4 года назад
Side dressing corn with 6,000 gallons per acre of nursery hog manure. This was the only fertilizer applied besides the starter fertilizer put down 2x2 with the planter. Very pleased with the results and will be doing it again next year.
Relay Intercropping: Wheat Harvest 2020
Просмотров 8 тыс.4 года назад
Our first year of intercropped wheat/soybeans. The wheat is in 7.5" twin rows on 30" centers and the beans are planted between on 30" spacing. The beans are protected from the cutter bar by custom designed shields that can fit to any combine. Interested in our set-up? Ask away in the comments section!
Are you still working with relay intercropping
Are you still gonna release the profitability analysis of the interceopping video? Was the overall yield bigger than when you don't do it?
Awesome video, what was the results in the end? I’m interested to know! 👍
Where did you guys buy the shields
sorry for the late reply. I designed and made the shields myself.
Excellent Content. Are you a Organic Operation, NON-GMO, or Conventional Farming Operation?
We are transitioning to organic and will be certified in 2023.
@@jacobleopold8079 Any Yield Decline with Sidedressing Manure due to compaction? I’m curious about Sidedressing with Beef/Dairy Cattle Manure.
God service

Nice job. What were your yields like?
Wheat averaged 65 and beans averaged 38 for the field.
How did the beans yield in the relay system?
Beans averaged 38 bpa for the field. We were happy with the outcome but we are trying it again next year to see if more timely rains and better management show better results.
@@leopoldfamilyfarms5749 that's great! Keep us posted. We are offering cost-share for farmers to try this practice. However, it looks like it might be a year or two before we find the right farmer.
@@fonddulaclandwater6058 If it is a statewide program I know of one farmer around the Green Bay area that is trying intercropping. My email is leopoldfamilyfarms@gmail.com if you would like his contact information.
Very interesting! Can you tell us a little about inputs? Have you reduced the cost/hectare of wheat? Regards, Inn. Farm
We kept the production variables for both the wheat and beans constant this year as far as inputs. We planted our normal rate of wheat. We did test a couple of different seed varieties as well as hog manure application rates vs urea though.
Did You see a big change in your wheat BPA, as compared to an all wheat field? That is a nice looking piece of land .
We saw about a 15% reduction in wheat yield. Hopefully we will see drastically better bean yields than double crop this fall. I plan on doing a profitability analysis video once the beans are off.
@@leopoldfamilyfarms5749 I would appreciate seeing the soybean yields as well as a profitability analysis. In the office, we are kicking around the idea of creating a cost-share incentive to get farmers to try this out. Thanks!
