I love to edit and I love baseball. Especially pre-steroids baseball from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. As great as NBC was, they were notorious for not showing replays. I very much enjoy creating my own replays. I also try to cut the fat while accentuating the more memorable moments. I plan on editing other baseball projects as well. I also have a large VHS collection of random highlights from the mid-to-late 80’s, which I will uploading in the near future.
1986 ALCS Game 7(EDITED)
After their miraculous comeback victory in Game 5, the Red Sox took full command of the series when they wiped out the Angels 10-4 in Game 6.
Now, the Red Sox will send their ace Roger Clemens to the mound. The Angels will counter with John Candelaria, who, at 12-2, equaled Clemens’s winning percentage.
Candelaria is also a veteran of three postseasons. Including a world championship with the Pirates in 1979.

When Nolan Ryan pitched his first game in the NLCS for the Mets in October of 1969, Dwight Gooden was in the verge of turning 5 years old. Now, with the series tied at 2-2, these two will face off against each other. Gooden beat Ryan 2-1 on July 4, 1986 when he threw a complete game 5-hitter. In Game 3 of the 1975 NLCS, John Candelaria struck out 14 Cincinnati Reds to set a record, at the time, for most strikeouts in an LCS game. He then pitched 7 strong inning against the Reds in Game 1 of the 1979 NLCS. Even though his year was quite tumultuous, Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd had a solid year with 16 wins. In November of 1985, the Mets acquired left-hander, Bob Ojeda, from the Boston Red Sox in a 7-player trade. His career high in wins was 12, and he only had one season with an ERA below 4.00. In his first year with the Mets, he not only had an ERA of 2.57, but he also had 18 wins, and led the league with a .783 winning percentage. Fun to watch a replay of a game when fans were not bothered with constant analytics of every play as in today’s ballgames.
HOF galore
Thank the MLB for taking this aspect of excitement from the game. They are tidying all of the unique aspects up to just a simple, quick game. What a shame.
the Red Sox eventually win the series
The next perfect game pitched by a Yankee was David Wells, 40-something years later. Wells and Larsen both attended Point Loma Highschool in San Diego. Then, a year later, Don Larsen was at Yankee Stadium for Yogi Berra Day. He witnessed David Cone's perfect game.
Steve Garvey, My All-Time Favorite Dodger!
Steve Garvey’s Number 6 must be retired in Los Angeles!
Brokaw is a bit of a baseball fan. When I worked on Nightly News he would occasionally ask me about a game or player in the 90's and early 2K's. He mentioned that the first time he visited NYC to appear on TV game show "Two for the Money" with North Dakota Governor and later AFL Commissioner. He said that he made a special trip out to Ebbets Field (1957) to see Jackie Robinson.
I wish the Astros could of found a way to win game 6 but they just came up a run short losing 7-6, overall the pitching wasn’t too bad, the only thing I still wonder about nearly 40 years later is why Jim Deshaes wasn’t used I mean atleast for an inning, he had pitched so well in games leading up to the NLCS
Don Drysdale was a Brooklyn Dodger rookie in 1956, and had a great view of the game in the Dodger dugout, and had made his first World Series appearance in Game 4 against the Yankees, allowing two runs on two hits.
Sal Maglie is the only one to have been involved in two history making games. In 1951, he was the starting pitcher in the third game of playoffs to decide the National League pennant, won on Bobby Thomson's Shot Heard 'Round The World, and was the starting and losing pitcher of this game.
Maglie wound up pitching for the Giants, Dodgers and Yankees.
RIP Greg Gumbel (1946-2024)
The “We Are Family” Pirates
That was journalism, no gimmicks. Now Mees and Gumbel are together again.
Where’s the damn fight.
You can hear his NYC accent, loud & clear here.
8:25 are you sure about that, Len?
Go Bucs!
Think if stupid Frank Lane had not traded Rocky and Norm Cash in April, 1960 to the Tigers. We might have been spared 35 years of lousy baseball in Cleveland. May the Devil turn the heat up to maximum for Lane tonight.
I think fernando valenzuels had perfect gsme dodgers 1981 if players huelga no stop season at half of season

Greatest baseball game of all time

Will miss you Uncle, so very much.Love you. ❤RIP
@@guidosusi9756 I’m sorry for your loss. So many people have commented not so much about what a great player he was, but what a great man he was.
George Bell was mad about the HBP and holding up the number 2 because Black hit him the previous time the two teams squared off (August 9). Put one right in his ribs with the first pitch of the AB in the top of the second.
And he became one of Mike Krukow's fan favorite during the 2002 NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals
Milo Hamilton and Jim Durham as anouncers. Did know Milo was there not Jim amazing.
A big fan of Rocky enjoyed him a lot . Honestly he is not A HOF player . Were his stats accumulated in ten yrs maybe , just my opinion. I was born in 1947 . ORIOLES FAN ,
I was so in love with Bobby Dernier !!!!
Jody Davis could have doubled his running ability and still never hit an inside-the-park homer 😂
He crushed it! I remember seeing him pitch in relief for the Yankees.
Some of the Mets players may have been in Houston a bit too long, losing 3 of 4 in a row there right after this ASG. The night of 7/18 several Mets players were involved in a 'scuffle' at Cooters, the charges were dropped quietly later.
A little "face" time @ 22:48 for baseball-lifer Joe Amalfitano, still goin' at 90. Leo Duroucher talking earlier about Cedeno was the guy who Joe credits helping him learn the game. The Vin & Joe show, best in the biz...
You can’t beat the Vin & Joe show. Garagiola’s enthusiasm and experience with Vin Scully’s wit, intellect, and golden voice? Match made in baseball heaven!
Rocky music a good touch.
Thank you! It was fun to put together.
I'm bummin' today at yesterday's passing of one of my boyhood idols. Rocky Colovito. Saw him play at Tiger Stadium when he was with the Tigers. He made a throw from the warning track directly to the catcher's mitt at home plate that never got higher than 12 ft off the ground
Rocky Colavito, a charismatic slugger who ranked among the most popular players in Cleveland baseball history and is among 18 players to hit four home runs in one MLB game, died on Tuesday. He was 91. Colavito "passed peacefully at home today with family by his side in Bernville, Pennsylvania," the Guardians said in a news release.
RIP
If I'm not mistaken, Bob Wolf did the radio call for this historic classic.

Great ALCS,,,, but Sox fans would have their hearts broken never to forget this awful disaster!!!
Another rainy, chilly, damp day that week, I was sitting under an overhang but the wind from Flushing Bay was strong. A Tuesday, regular work day many may have been at work not sure about the weather. McCarver was in baseball long enough to know about the seating added down the foul lines. Almost all of it are tickets are for league/commissioner's offices and the other MLB clubs 'allotment', done this way so season tix holders aren't relocated to other parts of the park. The 'revenue' for the home team is a small percentage with post-season sales divided between players shares, league offices and home club. Rudi should have known the 'youngest to no-hit' question, he played LF in that game. With all the talk about Ryan's elbow, what created a problem this day was Ryan's awkward slide in 5th inning during Doran's RBI at-bat. A sprained left ankle that caused pain this day and required a hospital visit the next day in Houston. Making adjustments to compensate could put a strain on a pitching arm, similar to what happened to Dizzy Dean. A story on this - www.upi.com/Archives/1986/10/15/Houston-Astros-pitcher-Nolan-Ryan-suffered-a-sprained-left/3262529732800/ The Ryan's Hope episode (s.1 e.44) doctor refers to a Nolie one-hitter, probably 4/18/70 vs. Phillies. Denny Doyle led off with a single followed by 15 K's and 6 walks. With several references to Dick Williams, sounds like he was the lynch pin to Nolie doing that appearance. You do find interesting cut-ins! Keep it up...
Best ever. RIP 34
great video but why was it so severely edited?
The vhs recording had major glitches throughout. Did what I could to salvage it.
What a classic!
Both 85+86 post season were as good as it gets. All of the series were epic if you are an old school baseball fan.
They really were. I am definitely having fun being immersed in the 86 season.
Beware of little guys that make a lot of noise, like Dutch. There's also Joe West, average ump at best - nuf-ced. Good chance that Mets hitting mindset was - go after 1st-2nd pitch, don't fall behind then wave at the 'splitter' with 2 strikes. ABC Sports college/NFL broadcast schedules set up the awkward game start times at Shea - Sat. afternoon, Sun. night then Mon. (holiday) early afternoon and the weather was cold and damp. @1:11:20 Mike Fitzgerald with radar gun, long-time Mets minor league player and later video tech/pitching chart-er. Because of the Oilers 10/12 home date vs. Bears is why Keith Jackson mentioned the scheduling switch for this series. Odd that Oilers/NFL did not consult the potential NL post-season possibilities for '86. From late 60's thru the time the Jets played at Shea in '83 early October home dates on potential baseball post-season home dates were scheduled vs. same division teams playing them 2 times so a 'home' game vs. Miami, Buffalo etc. could be switched to road and play 'hone' game later in NFL schedule. This occurred in 1969 and 1973. With Oilers playing NFC team that was not an option.
3:10 🥁
La serie mundial más emocionante de todas fue la del 81,,, porque estuvo Fernando Valenzuela,,, nunca la olvidaremos.

@@joeydbball1729 I have done a couple baseball videos on my channel. One of the hardest things to do is decide what to include. For baseball nuts like us, it can be hard to not include too much. I LOVE how you include prudent clips from docs and interviews, but dont go crazy. You let the game breath as its own individual thing. Keep up the good work man!
