Top of the wall. Top of the valley.
Belayzed goes Urban Bouldering
Today we wandered around the city looking for buildering spots. Found some really cool splitter cracks in downtown Grand Rapids, MI.

stick clipping with just the rope was smoooooth
You know I think the slack when lead climbing shouddn't make that big of a "j" next time watch this belayers!!!
Def gotta watch out for that
I was hanging from the route next to this while the send went down, the screams were warranted it was sick

Good job, what's that in the French grading system?
@@JoeJoe-wv6de it’s around 6c
@@BelayzedClimbing pretty cool as my current lead project is also 6c however it seems kinda impossible because there's basically no holds at the top (and it's slab)
@@JoeJoe-wv6de thats how slab goes. Keep grinding you got it!
This is wild that shit was NOT intended to be done on lead 😭
Tail was so long I almost clipped it at the second clip 😂
Long ass tail on that figure 8 😭😭

Greetings from Dallas! I love HCR! I was just there yesterday for 3 days of top-roping, leading, and bouldering. If I can give you some advice... For the climber, During your first clip, you were backstepping. Meaning that the rope was between and behind your leg. This is very dangerous because if you were to take a fall while backstepping, your leg will catch the rope, and you will end up upside down with your back and head potentially smashing into the wall first. The rope should always be over your feet, shin, or thigh. For the belayer, To spot the climber before the first clip correctly, he should be closer to the climber. His hands need to be as high as possible and tracking the climber's lats so that in the event that the climber falls, you contact his lats first and break his momemtium before his feet touch the ground. The belayer also needs to manage slack tighter during the first 4 clips (the number of clips is subjective based on the belayer distance from the wall and clip distance). I can tell you right now that if the climber were to fall right before clipping the 2nd clip, he would, for a FACT, hit you as he's coming down and highly likely hit the ground [A.K.A. decking]. Instead of that "J" loop, the amount of slack that was in the system right after the climber's 1st clip and the amount after the belayer pulled in slack was perfect. That straight line rope to the 1st clip paired with a 1 kick distance from the wall and the belayer off to the left or right of the climber is the ideal slack and distance for the first 4 clips. You can step back to where you originally were after the climber has surpassed the 4th clip. Because there is more distance between the climber and ground, you can have more slack in the system without risking the climber's decking and guarantee a soft catch. And lastly, regarding HCR: One very uncommon piece of gear that is highly useful and overlooked is a "climbing stick clip." This literally saves you from injuries, ESPECIALLY at HCR, where the belayer space is small and littered with dangerous rocks. Also, the first clip in a lot of routes at HCR is VERY high up. Remember to have fun! Cheers!
@@user-eq3fy6wu7l thanks for the advice! The belayer just got his certification and is still getting better at belaying. As for the climber you’re absolutely right and he should know not to back step, luckily it was an easy route and he didn’t fall!
Thanks for the advice! - the belayer
