I'm in my freshmen year at college, I just recently started learning c++ but I feel as though every time I try to learn something or remember syntax, my brain just stops working. Then I think about how the language is such a beginner and small bit of the actual comp sci and engineer part. Like theirs so much for me to learn that it feels so overwhelming and I feel as though even the start, just learning a language is giving me such a hard time.🥲

I don't code in java , but I think everyone will agree that this was the perfect time for a beginner to use an array right? If a first time coder had the thought of using an array or something else other than if / switch ,even if they didn't code it that way. They have a bright(figuratively) future ahead. Since thoughts like that is a bug in your head starting from that moment and wont be gone until you code it. Most of my Engine and Game Logic came from thoughts like that.
An array might be inefficient. Using a switch with 4 cases for ace, jack, queen, king and default for all others might be more efficient.

Don’t know much about java so idk if you’re able to do this, but look into case statements. Just if statements but they look a bit nicer

Disagree totally with avoiding AI, use it a lot. And whenever you encounter something the AI did that you don’t understand. Ask it to explain itself. It’s an exceptional way to learn quickly where it would take an hour of looking through documentation otherwise. You just need to be thorough in understanding the whole code base.
