The progression on chorus singers 😩🤌
Woa
this kinda fits 2001 a space odyssey i can’t lie unless im delusional
I love this song because I can't help but imagine it as some dude getting tricked into becoming an immortal entity (a star?) who now has to watch the goings-on of the entire universe. He watches all of humanity's misdeeds, then watches them go extinct, watches the very solar system they lived in turn to dust. Then he watches it all happen again, watches a new earth form, and can do nothing as humanity is reborn to continue the cycle. And he can never truly find the answer of WHY? WHY is this sinful species given chance after chance to exist? WHY do they keep coming back?
Omg that's such a cool interpretation!
literally the first thing i think of when i hear this song so glad someone made this comment, this song feels like it could be a part of a beautiful movie about space
"I was a victim of magic, Apollo" -Tumblr users that got dodgeball'd
"The moon cuts through the dark, so soft and bright For shadows bring out all the darkest traits of men. The loneliness of life kept back by candles left alight. Abyssal fog doth meander, lost in flight Singing in the breeze like tender wren The moon cuts through the dark, so soft and bright. Enthralling, silent wisps doth pierce the veil of light as fam'lies cluster close to sleep, time and time again The loneliness of life kept back by candles left alight. The fog belies the deepest shades of night, a void of which no single man could ken The moon cuts through the dark, so soft and bright A flowing inky mist obscures my sight, Enveloped in shadows, my good friend That loneliness of life kept back by candles left alight. So I'll take up this wretched pen, despite the shades of dark, this blackened, churning fen, The moon cuts through the dark, so soft and bright; The loneliness of life kept back by candles left alight." -Lamplight
Listening to this song alone (minus the cat licking my arm) in a dark room is magical.
I'll leave this comment, engrave it. etch it to a tree bark like what lovers do, cuz im inlove with the song

This song has such a good happy vibe for me and I love it so much.
the start just reminds me of Fran bow way to much

Blinding shining star You won't see so far Know what can't be shown Feel what can't be known You were an isle unto thyself You had a heart you hadn't felt Why would it hurt me Or was it real It was the night we had to part We were afraid to miss the start What did it matter Why would it matter And could we heal Blinding shining star You won't see so far Know what can't be shown Feel what can't be known I was a victim of magic Apollo catching my breath as I bled on the ground Somebody called me to follow I followed thinking aloud without hearing the sound Then all the planets fell to dust Lonely departing after us Gone not forgotten Long but forgotten old lore In every element of life Love camouflaging under strife or other matters Minds over matters let there be more Maybe you'll exit tomorrow The sorrow sweeping you off as your island replies Sudden invincible flowing A river clearer than all thou might view with thine eyes Why did fire-erupted lands arrive Why did murderous animals survive Why did we deserve to be revived Why was any and everything alive

the masculine urge to name yourself apollo because of this song
Just name yourself Isle Unto Thyself, that is the most obvious choice.

Why have I never heard anyone talking about the last 8 seconds of the song? It's such an extreme contrast to the rest of it and it's very surreal and creepy
On the full album, it smoothly transitions to the next song. But for just one, they have to cut it off somewhere, thus creating that effect.
@@BogusmanTheSwagman there is a certain point where Isle Unto Thyself ends and Black Rainbows begins, I think that just on the album version you cant just have a track called ‘transition’ so it gets stuck at the end of Isle Unto Thyself, similar to how Welcome to Tally Hall transitions creepily into Taken for a Ride
I know! I don't remember ever hearing that before so that was so creepy
@@LucyWest370 what do you mean wtth transitions creepily?
It was supposed to be Black Rainbow after the transition, that's why it feels so out of place
Shit sounds like a lost rainbow road soundtrack
So, since Hawaii: Part II is about 9/11, is this song about the actual falling of the towers and the aftermath, since it is the first song of the album?
Only Variations on a Cloud, the bonus track is about 9/11 as far as I know, all the other "main" songs in Hawaii: Part II tell another story which I don't know by heart right now but I bet there are some interpretations somewhere on HPII videos :D
@@AZMindroma Joe confirmed all or at least most Miracle Musical songs are about 9/11 to some degree. While Hawaii Part II is its own story, it's 100% inspired by 9/11, and it's not confirmed but I believe this song is about the main character being devastated about the event.

I think that this song is about evolution and how people try to deny it... it just feels like that you know, if you can wright evidence in the reply section that would be well appreciated.
Because of the Official Music Video, right?
@J.J._Hector_73 yes but if you listen to the lyrics it is also about that
Especially the last 4 lines
i can see this song as about evolution, but idk about people denying it
I believe it is about meeting someone, who they liked, who is unsure if the feelings are reciprocated. That's why the key word "were" an isle unto thyself. The song later says that your island "replied". It also talks about being a victim of magic. A metaphor for the person they like putting them under a spell. This is built upon with Apollo stealing his breath. The god of words(off the top of my head) had prevented him from talking as he bled on the ground. Apollo is seen as warding off evil as well, so it could be that the person they like is "pure" and almost god like. I believe the bleeding on the ground is a metaphor for being hurt by the person leaving, as it later says that the person might exit tomorrow, (and that such an event is sorrowful) as well as some other things hinting at it("it was the night we had to part")
Its it wrong i never knew this group was also tally hall?

@hexyellow9873LABRYNTH LYRICNS ARE ABOUT ELECTROSHOCK THERAPY ?????? 😭
mind electric is the best Christmas song
@@alankiittyno but the song is a continuation of The Mind Electric, which is - as you can tell - about shock therapy. If you want to know more since Hawaii Part II is one of the most cryptic albums I’ve ever seen, there’s a couple deep dive videos. They all mostly come to different conclusions, but they’ll help you get a grasp of the general themes if you’d be into that stuff. I’ve found Miracle Musical maybe around 8-10 months ago, and I had no clue what I was missing without this symbolism heavy masterpiece and magnum opus of Joe Hawley, which you may also know from the band Tally Hall, and wrote songs that you may be familiar with like Hidden in the Sand, The Bidding, and Ruler of Everything. If you already knew about all this before, sorry for over explaining, but if this is new information to you then go on and enjoy some of the best music you’ve never heard(but don’t keep your expectations too high, Tally Hall in particular prides itself with being very weird and silly, while still throwing in songs that are heavy with symbolism and existential themes)😊

same!
I think the tone of just the music itself is kinda creepy but I agree that the lyrics are wholesome
“Catching my breath as I bled on the ground”
I think the people who are saying that might be referring to the music video, which is sooooooo oddly uncomfortable. The comments in the music video are disable, so maybe they came here to vent.
I think the reason people say it's creepy is because it kind of plays around the concept of mortality which is one of the scariest things, mortality itself is the reason why anybody is scared of anything.
