Military Lecture: The Canadian Army in the Fall of 1944 - Reappraised by Geoff Hayes
Geoff Hayes challenges an orthodox view which holds that First Canadian Army, Cinderella on the Left, was too slow through the fall of 1944. The conscription crisis during this time clouded achievements of the Canadians, but Hayes contends that reports reveal Canadian morale remained remarkably high through this period, something the Canadian government leveraged to its advantage
The Canadian Army in the Fall of 1944 - Reappraised is presented by Geoff Hayes. Guelph Museums’ Military Lecture series is presented in partnership with the Laurier Centre for the Study of Canada.

Military Lecture: "It was hell, that's all": Artillery and the Senses in the Canadian Corps, 1914-18
Просмотров 668 месяцев назад
The First World War on the Western Front was overwhelmingly a war of artillery. Both sides’ firepower dictated what form the war would take, driving men to dig trenches to conceal and protect themselves, but even then, artillery was responsible for over half of Canadian casualties. Given the significance of its role, it is no surprise that the letters, diaries and memoirs of soldiers make frequ...

Military Lecture: Missing Memorials? How Canada has Commemorated the Second World War
interesting stuff!!!
WTF is up with all the political BS! Title says Uranium glass, Stick with the subject at hand please.
Hm? Why not austarlia and new zeland?
💐
Yeah I kinda figured you lived close to the Dairy Bush, I had heard there was a ski hill but I had zero awareness of it
Many men from many nations answered the call, many lay in foreign soils far from their home , many beneath marked graves, some are just names on stone and have no grave, those that came home never left the battle fields and the horror of what man could do to another. Like their sons after them that fought in WW2...theses were great generations of people. Australians, French, New Zealanders ,British, Canadians, Indians, Africans, Americans, and all other nations that fought together . We will remember them.
Hi Ken. Dublin St. United Church is celebrating it's 150th this year. I'm the custodian there and I'm trying to piece together what Dublin St and Suffolk St neighborhood was like before and after 1874 when it was built. I'm curious if you have images and info. of the surrounding area that you can share and how to connect with you.. Thanks Robert
I'll sum it up without the political garbage. guelph is in Ontario next to kitchener and it's populated mostly by dots and Filipinos
I was interested, but this was pretty much the worst video ever. I tuned out after 3 minutes
I knew it was BS with the reinvented position title. I lasted 49 seconds. UGH!
Poppy is my state’s wildflower. Really, look it up
❤🏴
I like your hair color.
Love this ❤❤❤❤
All died for nothing. Just look at the state of the country today, has been given away.
Yep the two greatest generations ever, fought in two world wars.......they would be ashamed how their nation's have let them down by creating a woke and weak society.
Poppy related to opium...?
Imagine our war heroes knowing that 100 years later we'd be doing stupid land acknowledgements forced on us by Marxists who want to destroy everything our veterans fought to protect. Grampy would be rolling in his grave.
I spent a very happy year at the University of Guelph and walked past the McCrae House several times a week. A wonderful rendition of the Flowers of the Forest
Fantastic tuning. Not one drone out.
9th September 1513. 32 of my ancestors were killed at Flodden, 31 of them fighting for James, 1 fighting for the English. Probably a lot more than that but we only know the ones who owned land snd whose death was recorded. It was a devastating battle for Scotland and set our nation back 100 years.
Thank you for the video and the focus on the war horses. During WW1 my maternal grandfather Albert Henry Beckett served in the Royal Canadian Dragoons from 20 Sept. 1914 at Valcartier Quebec to his discharge on 8 Dec. 1919 in England. He was in the hospital during the Battle of Vimy Ridge but saw action in most of the other major battles including at Moreuil Wood on 30 March 1918 where Albert in Company C charged the gap between the southern edge of the wood and the village of Moreuil to block any attacks on the village. He was never able to tell me anything about his war experiences but I have been able to piece his story together through archival records.
❤❤❤❤❤sudan and kanda ❤❤❤
Magnifique interprétation ❤
Well played Gentleman, very nice ending with one piper... 👏👏👏👏
What a beautiful tribute.
The Pride of our Nation, Lies cold in the clay!
Far too many have fallen.
Yes ,lay down their lives for a Generation of today who are woke, ungrateful, and weak .
I watched the locomotive 🚂 being moved to John Galt park on that historic day 🚂
Absolutely brilliant arrangement. Haven't heard such beautiful work since PM Bill Livingstone and his Fraser Highlanders were World Champions. Congratulations indeed.
Go straight to the point it's all about Uranium Glass ...
I was really interested to learn about the titled subject matter however the liberal garbage being spewed was far too much bullshit.
Jesus stop with the political statement
Yeah, how dare a museum talk about or acknowledge history. lol. Be serious, Rhonda.
The injuns should have been completely eradicated and erased from history.

Interesting topic. Thank you for posting. Minor complaint regarding the audio quality. Some video editing software allows mixing of audio sources. Adding direct audio from the speakers microphone to the mix would significantly improve the audio quality of this video.
So proud to be Canadian
Proper memorial service. Pipes sound great.

With out a doubt the loveliest arrangement. Thank you
Who is John Galt?
John Galt was born in Irvine, Scotland in 1779, and is best known for his initiative in forming "The Canada Company" which purchased crown land in Ontario, Canada and sold it to settlers. Galt was the first Superintendent of the Company and founded the town of Guelph on April 23, 1827. He also was a well known author.
Nicely done Guelph Pipe Band.
