Who Owns the Oldies: Marx & Alienation
Members of bands and singing groups on the oldies circuit are often not the original performers. In fact, their group names and repertoires belong to someone else who can do with them as they please, with no recourse for the original performers and creators. As Marx would say, they are alienated from the products of their labor, products now owned by people who simply had money to purchase the rights.

Jack Nicholson, Art Garfunkel, and Candice Bergen, from movie "Carnal Knowledge" (1970), directed by Mike Nichols.
such a great "act"
I lived in Malibu for 7 years next door to Jack's place. I'd go to Jack's estate for parties. Because everyone loves Jack, he got away with snorting cocaine and abusing groups of hookers. He was generous and served wine that was over $100 a bottle. Once Jack came over to our property because he heard a woman squealing. A movie love scene was being shot with a girl on a blanket... I'll let you imagine how it turned out.
This opening from Carnal Knowledge is really neat, the way Bergen comes out of the darkness into the mixer and the camera follows her around. Then the delineation of the characters between Garfunkel and Nicholson.
Good Lord that manager of phony acts is a real weasel. It’s identity theft.
Majestic song.
YOU, are the caretaker. You've always been the Caretaker.
This film had so much good scriptwriting. Nicholson's scenes with Bobby were wonderful as was his Ballbuster slide show.
This is a jerkoff scene, in a jerkoff movie, with two jerkoff actors. If the guy who invented the movie camera saw Art Garfunkel in a movie, he'd apologize and then slit his wrists. Are you taking all this down?
I sat next to Candice at an event, i believe it was 1974 -- when she was in her prime - young and beautiful - i had never seen anyone who looked so gorgeous and her profile was perfect - a rare human being - most humans are gruesome - not Candy in her prime.
Wunderbar subtil.
Art is so cute
Candice Bergen: what an entrance!
What is the name of this film... Anyone? I adore Artie but had no idea, he did films.

@@mickeymouse7042 Thank you, just on Utube looking and found it.
He also played Nately in Catch-22! I honestly love Artie, a handsome little genius 😂😂
@@EdwardianTea great singer too legend and Jacks the best
This is most probably a late 1940's Amherst - Smith mixer, maybe Amherst - Mt. Holyoke. Beautiful cinematography by Giuseppe Rotunno, set design by Richard Silbert and shot almost entirely in tight and medium shots.
It was an Amherst-Smith mixer, back when Amherst was still an all-male school.
Jack nicholson is AWFUL, inside and to me it comes out every time he opens his mouth, sorry, thats to me.
NOOOOOOO 😡😫😭😂
Sounds like someone has a personal grudge against Nicholson.
