My Experience Making A Full Stack SaaS Web App
I heavily disagree with your point on reusability of skills for CS. I graduated last year with a CS degree and I also was torn between ME and CS. I wish I had chose the other option, everything you can learn with a CS degree you can literally learn on RUclips. If I had some of the ME skills I would be making more useful stuff in my garage and start a business. Probably going to go back and start all over again in ME
Can you make them solid objects
Wait we could use our oculus quest for the sim?
It's true that making apps is easier than physical products but for entrepeneurship this can also be seen as a pro because the barrier to entry is higher thus less competition.
Codeium is definitely a company to watch. I used there VSCode plugin and it was by far the best I tried. The multiple edit feature where it would make changes in multiple places in the file with a single tab click was so much better than other AI plugins. I upgraded to a paid plan just for that. Windsurf is really good for a first release. Cursor has a few features I hope Windsurf gets but overall I’m really happy with Windsurf
Cline has that feature you mention about using the pc to test your code check it out will love to see a Vidoe about that
i used codium since last year but codium is slow, so i uninstalled it
I never tried the old codium but windsurf has been pretty fast for me so far
I've been trying the free trial for the past week or so. I'm really impressed. Like you showed it's really good at finding the correct files. It's far from perfect (has all of the quirks you'd expect from LLMs) but already saved me a bunch of time.
How did you make the RAYS appear from the “eyes” of the creature
The paperclip method is nice!
I just planned to do the same. What controller is needed for the sim?
I started with just an Xbox controller so any controller should work. Once I got the real controller it took only an hour or two to adapt from Xbox to the real controller. So most of my practice for this video was using the Xbox one. I believe most modern drone controllers will work on the sim through USB.
Hello John, I would like to contact you via discord to get some help from you, I wan't to make some test with neural network but just having the code won't help me, I would like it if you could help me a bit to have a better understanding of it, I know you just started but, any help would help me right now :)
Hello, I am currently traveling for work so it is a little difficult for me to join a call at the moment but if you want to share your questions on here I can try my best to answer them when I have time and other people might have the same questions as well!
ME is so much more difficult! And a good mechanical engineer can pickup CS in no time. But even better is EE, you do CS and a bit of mechanical (mainly making boxes to house the electronics in such a way they are safe against the elements). And you learn the basics of a lathe and making cool little metal parts. I liked it and I would've loved to have dove deeper into it.
Big thanks for this video, bro. I just knew that there is Unhook! Just installed it now.
I needed this video, I stopped gaming 3 years ago when I got a job, but replaced it with youtube. I instead spent way to much time being led by the youtube algorithm, thanks for the unhooked extension! I love coding, but find it difficult to motivate myself. Will definitely start writing down alternatives and kickstarting some inspiration out of boredom.
Yeah the unhooked chrome extension was perfect for me too when I first found it. Glad I was able to share it! Coding is definitely an acquired taste but luckily there is a lot on the menu (Mobile, web, backend, game etc). I find that starting with some really small projects at first can help. When I first started I would bite off way more than I can chew on projects and it made it much less enjoyable. In some of my future videos I am going to focus on making some Micro Saas projects which are just tiny single feature projects that you can get real users using. Because those are much fun and interesting to me!
Amazing video! I'm currently struggling with addiction. Not specifically with video games. This video is really inspiring, and something I feel I needed to see to get back on the horse and chase my dream! Was also really surprised to see how few views you had. The production quality is really good for your size. Keep up the good work and I wish you the best of luck in the future.
Thanks! I am glad you found the video helpful and also wish you luck on your journey too. I am hoping to start uploading more consistently as that was my main issue and perhaps the views will follow.
Very high quality video and the topic really resonates with me
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words and am glad you got something from it!
@@JohnnyCodes you really helped to me push myself to start studying now. Have a good evening
I did that τοο, how do I go back to gaming though ?
How can you sell such bs, yea why not replace games with learning math:))))?
I really appreciate the intent behind the video, and it's got some great points! Despite that, your title is quite misleading. The brief mention of coding wasn't clear on how you actually replaced video games. You managed to start some habits that held you accountable and improved your mental health, and that's great, but I was hoping for a bit more information on your process to gamifying coding. Despite that again, congrats for kicking your addiction. That is definitely something worth celebrating and acknowledging!
Hi John, great video! Keep up the great work with your coding projects king
Hi Raza, Thanks! Will try to keep it up!
Great video. I would recommend instead of meditating, meditate on the mysteries of the rosary and pray to God everyday. The universe didn't create itself. It took me a long time to accept this but the Catholic Church is true. There is a reason it has been around for 2000 years
Others have been around longer longevity does not give it any credit at all
Hey John! Glad to see you uploading! It’s Mike from Cohort 2, PTYA. I relate a lot with this video. Although my game is Fortnite and I really enjoy it 😆 it’s kind of my escape from RUclips burnout but I know in the future the hobby will have to disappear
Hey Mike! Glad to see that you have stuck with your channel and have gotten rather consistent with it too! We should definitely sync up sometime! And I agree we definitely need some way to avoid burnout and if you play Fortnite in moderation it can be a great tool for that!
Well done, thanks for sharing! Also haven't played anything in a couple of years now. I played way too much D2 for a while, but had to take a job for a while which left me little time outside of work/sleep/commute. That job only lasted a few months but it was enough to break the habit and pivot to AI, right as Midjourney and chatGPT were starting to become noteworthy...
Hey! Nice editing! Was excited to see your video pop up.
Hey Cody! Was excited to see your comment pop up. I enjoyed your recent video about Ghost Jobs! Job Board platforms should definitely verify that Job posts are actually active somehow.
were you using ML-Agents?
No this was using a neural network I made from scratch. I have a 4 part version of this where I show how to make the code for it
@@JohnnyCodes aren't they both similar?
problem is my ai seams to be all the same when I spawn multiple at once to speed the training proccess up
I had this issue too and I had to make sure I was making a deep copy of the weights and biases and not a shallow copy. If you do just the normal copy they will be shallow which means the values are all linked together so if you mutate one network it mutates all of them.
@@JohnnyCodes Yeah I had the deep copy, but it still seamed to have the same weights and biases. But then I has to make a new layers each time. Do you have a discord to talk overthis?
C# is best for beginners, python sucks, and java script is just confusing.
Will you do tutorial on reinforcement learning (PPO)?
Yeah I am going to start working on getting more videos out soon and the current order of what I am thinking is back propagation, actor-critic. And then possibly PPO ( there may be something in between actor critic and PPO because I want to make sure I cover everything needed to understand PPO first )
Hey John! I love your contents, which platform I can send you message ?
this is a much better way to do the forward pass: public void Forward(float[] inputsArray) { for (int i = 0; i < n_nodes; i++) { nodeArray[i] = biasesArray[i]; for (int j = 0; j < n_inputs; j++) { nodeArray[i] += weightsArray[i, j] * inputsArray[j]; } } } this way you don't create a new array every time. also the opening "{" is in the correct location.
if the activation function always happen right after forward. why not just combine them?
For beginners TypeScript is a choice because it does vital handholding. And with copilot even more so. Python also has type annotation so that's an option too.
Maybe I missed it, but if you want to do JavaScript, you first need a basic understanding of HTML and CSS. So first learn some stuff about HTML like the different attributes and what you can do with them. After that learn different CSS attributes and stuff like CSS Cascading. After that you can start with JavaScript. And after you gained some knowledge in JavaScript I would start to learn React. So the order is: 1. HTML 2. CSS 3. JavaScript 4. React
Thank you. It's easier now to make a choice. Great Video, John.

Can you make a video about back propagation in neural networks? I really don't understand somebody else you. You explain and write code better than others🙂
Yes I definitely can! Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate it. I will start thinking of the best way to break down back propagation like I did for the neural networks
You popped up on my feed randomly after years 😭went from piano videos to comp sci
best video ive ever seen not gonna lie
Nice video! In general I'd say a neural network is still a black box even if you built it and know the values of all the nodes, weights, biases and layers.
How many hours did you have? (in the sim)
What about SAS Viya?
Thank you! I would have kissed you for that great explanation!
remake in parts please with maybe a mix of all together, I would prefer to see the whole process though - making basic creatures and then adding the AI on top - im not a big fan of downloading and gluing things together as I feel I dont really learn anything.
yep , after a week of trying to debug code botched together from parts 1.2 and 3 and from copying {not copy pasting}chunks from the git hub I still have problems.. my jagged array deosn't seem to work properly so I used the pre-streamlined version which doesnt crash but doesnt generate outputs - so I treied hard coding movement to at least make sure the controller was working , forwards command works but teh rotate jitters back to the original point and i really am not sure why.. .... so to answer yes please from scratch - #basic environment , #spawners and movement controllers, #basic AI including 1st run scrambled neurons, #mutation and breeding. at each point having something we can press play on so that we know it works up to that point.
all that was missing was the if from the else if in the forward loop - missed it for so long..
Yes - I'm all for the suggestion (7:53) to create a consolidated video! And since you've asked, I'm really not a fan of stitching video up so that you don't have any umm's and ahh's - but this then makes it seem so robotic in nature. To me, it's actually very distracting to watch when there's so many obvious visual jumps in the video. A few hmm's and ahh's is not bad - it just shows you are human. Removing those and you are removing the human essence - IMHO.
We all know the most legendary and impossible language to learn is all of the formulas and functions on microsoft excel spreadsheets
C > C++ -> Python -> Java -> Rust that was my path
Thanks! Good insights!
Can you learn java and python at the same time??
Yeah you definitely can! Java is another good language to start with. Do you have a reason for wanting to learn Java?
@@JohnnyCodes I'm a student in computer science we're learning Java and I'm doing 3 months bootcamp python. Do you think it's a good idea??

Awesome! If you have any questions or video suggestions for anything you would like to learn more about let me know!
