Budget ice shanty build out of free pallet wood. It’s all primed In killz and painted with rust oleum oil base. The tarps and solar lighting came from harbor freight. The other lighting and handles came from Menards. The 1” foam board came from a local supplier. Roof is made of FRP board, 1” foam and a 1/2 plywood. The build cost less than $500. Check out this shower set up for camping. I have this set up for use in my tiny house as well as a single wide trailer that does not have city water connection. Failures as of yet: shower line separated which needed taped. June 2021 The way I have this set up provides me about 7 to 10 minutes of shower time. My basic propane tank will last a few months.Me personally I have not went through an e...
Everyone keeps talking about a garden hose connection. In the middle of nowhere, where am I going to get a garden hose?
Hardware store before you go to the middle of nowhere. And if I was in the middle of nowhere and there’s water I would jump in the water. But he sure to swim, hope this helps.
Nice sett up man. Is it still working good?
so if i use a 5 gal bucket will the system suck up the water or is it forced water pressure like a garden hose ????
No
The system requires pressure
@@Mattofmichiganthank you
Shack looks great! Noticed the Tead One book in the background of you latest video. Just wanted to say thank you for being a fan on his work.
Thanks for the kind words. Yes Tead is one of my biggest inspirations since my childhood years. I grew up downriver, loved rollerblading and loved painting. That book is a beautiful project everyone helped organize. Much love Polar be well.
Fishy yet ?
I’m out right now, ice is about 1’ but the top is slush. Just 1 hard shack out right now, no trucks or castles so I must wait.
Even sleds and trax are limited
Looks great...nice work✌
Thanks ! I’ll post a update on the ice soon
How much heat out the top
It puts out a good amount of heat I would def not put it near anything flammable. I’d assume 5k btu
@@Mattofmichigan ok, thank you for the reply and the video
@@Goesinya69 you’re very welcome and thank you. Thing does the trick man I tell ya
Thanks McGiver, everything I wanted to know!
I’m telling ya it’s one of my favorite camp items. It’s still working !
It’s not wrong if it works.
Mine wouldnt light right out of the box. Had to back off the water regulator screw all the way out and about 3-4 turns back in. Works like a charm and provides endless hot water. Game changer for long trips and washing dishes as well.
My new one arrived and it clicks but doesn’t start. Did all the troubleshooting. Maybe I’m having the same problem you did. Where is the water regulator screw?
@@n2- you should see a phillips screw head inside the brass pressure regulator. Turn on the water and try the shower head, adjusting the screw then once get the pressure right, it should fire. It did for me after much frustration. Worked every time since
Also, do I only need to drain it during cold temperatures?
I’d say yes. It freezes easy. It won’t hurt it having water in it during the warm seasons. If you disconnect it all for storage most of the contents will drain out. Not much is retained inside. Hope this helps you !
I have this same unit and it works great. But I need to replace the shower head and hose. I can't find one on line. Is it just a standard size hose connection?
I believe. I had to fix my 1st one. But the best advice I could give is take the hose and head and take it to Home Depot or Lowes and get a better one. Im gonna do the same! Best of luck !
Hi I face problem when I use it do you think type of gas will be make problem?
What is it doing
Very helpful. Just bought one for my cabin. Arrives today and excited about using it.
Congrats !
I have used mine quite a bit, I’m still happy with it. Hope yours is working well.
How many psi provide the water pump? Does.the pump run automatically when the pressure is below? Would appreciate if.you can explain how the water pump active. Thanks
The off and on did not last. Used in October and part of November. Store till March used a few times then the handle split. The temperature was in the 70th not winter conditions.
Shower head is cheap, and the hose. Pretty much a budget item as a whole.
This is a terrible product. Don't buy it. Mine worked 5 times then stopped working. I switched out the regulator, switched out the propane tank, switched out the whole gas assembly and it still didn't work. The company sent me another unit which appeared to be a refurb based on the packaging and this one didn't work either!!! I turned the gas and water in minimum. I did everything and spent 8 hours trouble shooting this. Basically lost $250.
Sorry to hear that. They aren’t top of the line, but I have used mine quite a bit without any issues. Just used it last weekend. What was the issue?
@@Mattofmichigan It wont light. When ever I've had technicol issues something, it's usually something simple that I'm not understanding. But I literally spent hours on this trouble shooting it. The company doesn't have very good trouble shooting help. Their phone operator seemed to be overseas. They sent me a whole brand new gas assembly and it still wont light. When I turn the water on there is a spark but no gas flow. They finally sent me another unit that didn't work either! this unit appeared to be a return or a refurb based on the packaging. This product shouldn't be so difficult. When I first got it, it worked no problem and after 5 uses that was it.
@@parabola8933 my unit wouldn’t light when I tested it last week...it was hanging slightly on a pitch. It needs to be vertical up against a wall I figured out. Hope it helps
@@parabola8933 I hope this works for you because honestly I was about to throw this thing across the yard because it wouldn’t light. But then our friend pointed out to me that it was not straight enough maybe and bingo that was it. The igniter was just not sparking, as soon as I moved it literally a half inch forward it started to spark and it lit up instantly
@@Mattofmichigan I give that a try. Thanks!
What pump do you need? I know it's a 12v but there are so many different 12v pumps and can't figure out one that will work instead of the Camplux one that is an extra 70 bucks.
www.amazon.com/Camplux-1-2GPM-Diaphragm-Caravan-Fishing/dp/B076XTLTXR/ref=asc_df_B076XTLTXR/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241927321837&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3178288399275219763&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016873&hvtargid=pla-404574845460&psc=1 This option is the one I upgraded to I’m supposed to receive it today. It is $20, The $70 option includes all hoses and what not to get you set up which is a pretty good deal honestly if you are not proficient with hardware. $70 option provides everything you need, the $20 option is just a pump.
@@Mattofmichigan ok thanks. Maybe will just stick with the $70 one. May end up being cheaper than having to piece all the other parts together.
@@Adventureswithbecky I just did the piece by piece with the 20$ unit. Breakdown: Hose $1.29 x 10ft = 12.90 3/8 hose clamp x 8 = 15.92 Thread tape = 1.30 3/4 to 3/8 barb brass fitting x 2 = 16.00 This is what it took to convert my setup to this pump. Work the 70$ to just buy the kit 👍👍
@@Mattofmichigan thanks😊
I had the set up working once from the mains water source but it failed to light up despite the trigger sound when I took it the campsite :). Not very tech savvy so have to get some help!!
Hopefully you had a good propane tank hooked up to it, also take soapy water and spray the connections
If there is bubbles around the connections tighten them down until they stop also use Teflon tape to ensure a good seal.
Thank you .. I have a good gas set up but will try the soap check around the connection..
@@poornimarai6130 try to contact the seller and see if you can return it. Although it may have been a month or whatever most people will return it before 12 months
@@Mattofmichigan thanks for the tip. I will test it out again before I send it back.👍🏽👍🏽
Perfect set up
Many thanks
Nice little setup. I just purchased one, for my 7x14 cargo trailer camper conversion. question do you recommend anything besides what it comes with? Any leaks or anything? I notice the attachments that you have. The garden hose is that going outside or a bucket? Thank you!
Thank you Checking out my video ! I would recommend shopping around for a better 1/2 hose for the shower head. Clearance at Lowe’s or HD. Amazon surely sells them also. The metal casing around the hose held up nice but over time the ends worked free and are very sharp ( I tapped my ends up) The garden hose runs to my water pump which I have a 5/8 to 3/4 adapter. I had a few leaks at the beginning ( water pump connections ) with the proper Teflon tape and a wrench to snug things up it was quickly fixed. Tote will catch any drips if it starts leaking again. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Do u have to constantly press shower handle to work...so i can shower with 2 hands
it’s a switch that goes up and down, no worries
Great idea. How many showers can you take before you have to recharge the battery? How do you charge it? Is it reasonable to expect 2 showers from the 5 gal container?
Batteries are D batteries and they are still working since this video. Yes if you shower on the lowest flow setting rather quickly.
@@Mattofmichigan Thanks for the quick reply! I meant the big 12v battery for the pump.
@@explorer8888 ohh ok I’m unsure I haven’t killed the battery during a weekend so it lasts a while
I try to charge it up before every weekend but it has never been completely drained
So I am doing this same exact set up this spring at my camp. I will be trying a "solar trickle " charger to keep the 12v battery charged. Thoughts??
Is there a time limit that it will run? The one I have will only run for 10 minutes then it'll shut off. No warning, just instant cold water. Not my idea of run.
No time limit , I use mine quite a bit. Never shuts off on its own. No device within the unit that’s capable doing so.
You made a very helpful video thanks.
Glad it helped ! Thanks for watching
damnit! you did everything exactly the way i want too! thanks for cutting to the chase, ill be ordering it up tonight
right on glad It helped out ! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it
you probably dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me atm then you can watch all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf for the last days :)
@Reyansh Devin Definitely, I've been using instaflixxer for years myself :)
@Reyansh Devin Yea, been watching on InstaFlixxer for years myself =)
Doesn’t the unit have a pump built in??
theMekanik negative no pump within the unit
matt edwards thought it takes 2 D batteries 🔋 which I would get adaptors for to run AAA/AA in. You think they would have made them 21700/18650.
theMekanik yea it’s an unusual product. They keep altering the design. I like this one, I’m going to get and recommend a water filter to keep contamination of the small lines. They are small
Looks good
theMekanik thanks
So the pump will turn off and on by itself or should you install a inline rocker switch to turn it off and on?
Dominique Paez the rocker switch is a great way to go. The pump will shut off after use only if the pressure is built up.If your water is nearly empty it will continue running until it senses pressure.
@@Mattofmichigan is that a feature of the pump or the camplux?
@@FishnTv that’s the pump feature. It works off of a vacuum system. Once it’s primed it shuts off. Once you start showering the pump loses vacuum and will turn on and pump water. Once you stop showering you’ll hear it run for a moment until the system primes up again. Rv pumps are all alike, they work off vacuum.
