Paul McCartney Spies Like Us Alternative Mix Tag
Просмотров 382 года назад
This is a transcription of the piano piece that appears in the last 30 seconds of Paul McCartney's "Spies Like Us" Alternative Mix (as found on the 1985 12" single). This mix was created by Art of Noise from the original mix plus studio out-takes, so I assume this is McCartney and not one of AoN (e.g., Anne Dudley). As far as I know, this mix is the only place this piece appears. I can only hop...
Rondo in 1D

I was looking through copies of music I have when I came across Schubert's Rondo in E, a piece Myles, my best friend at school, had learned for his Grade 8 piano exam. I remember taking an interest in the piece back when he was practicing it and asking him for a copy. Looking at the piece 35 years on got me thinking about the music Myles enjoyed and the musical memories we shared. That inspired...

This isn't an exercise from any book, but rather a little exercise I wrote to play with harmony and counterpoint. I plan more, so watch out for "Exercise 2" at some point. If you'd like the sheet music, you can get it from my "Buy Me a Coffee" site: www.buymeacoffee.com/colindsmith/extras

Some fun with Debussy's "Passepied" from his Suite Bergamasque. I'm a huge fan of Debussy's music, so this is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek homage to him and other music I enjoy. Some of the musical references are a bit obscure (in fact, I expect only my brothers might get them all), but it was fun making this and exploring MuseScore's capabilities I'll be posting more experiments with MuseScore i...

This is a piano arrangement of "Here, There, and Everywhere" by The Beatles I created using MuseScore. If you'd like the sheet music in pdf format, I'm giving it away on my "Buy Me a Coffee" site (www.buymeacoffee.com/colindsmith). Feel free to buy me coffee while you're there. :)

This sax part was added, post-1985. The original, by Ritchie Cannata (find it on YT), is the best version. It's laid back and cool, like the song, itself. The new version screams for attention, and doesn't fit the mood of the song. Compare both versions, but you may have a devilish time finding the original.

I bought this on tape a few years after it came out. Wish I'd had it on CD, don't know if this release was offered on CD. I did buy the re-release and enjoyed it immensely. I know Phil probably prefers the re-release, but there were some special qualities to this one that hit me in ways that words just don't convey. I really love the orchestration. The songs are still great on the newer one, but to be honest, 'the radio flyer' takes me places!

I watched his 100th Madison Square Garden show and I think I like his "mature, maybe 1/2 step lower" voice better. He's a grandmaster musician and songwriter with few equals, ever - I Love and admire this guy.

This was playing in a Supermarket in Ireland this afternoon. It took me right back to when I was thirteen. We had a lot more freedom way back in the 70's in the UK. Who remembers when you could buy an Air Rifle from a Kays Catalogue? How times have changed.

As a teenager i would walk through the streets with my air rifle. If I did that today I'd have a helicopter flying overhead & a police armed response unit yelling at me to lay down! Yes, times have changed!

This was recorded about nine months after then-President Ford gave a speech denying federal assistance to spare New York from bankruptcy. New York was in many ways a hellhole back then, yet clearly loved so deeply by so many people, then and now. What a timeless song, really, about nostalgia for a place you once lived in.

I'd be very surprised if Mike Oldfield never asked Renaissance singer Annie Haslam to work with him on one of his own projects, as I'm convinced that they would definitely complement each other and their styles would blend tigether perfectly. The late, great Judith Durham did an excellent cover version of it in 1997 and it is also available to view on RUclips. A timeless, evergreen classic.
