Saw Mark in Washington a few years ago at chateau st. Michelle winery. What a musician, I've always loved his music, and to see the 12 piece band or more was amazing. He is also so humble and a truly professional musician. Of course he is an actual rock star, but he has zero pretension. No wonder Emmy Lou collaborates with him. Thank you Mark Knopfler for 50 years of emotional connections for an innumerable sea of fans!

I think all that activity at the end - dismantling the sound gear and props - was deliberate. Signifying the wrap up of the concert; possibly the end of the year long tour as well. I think i read somewhere that the album was filmed and recorded over July 22 and 23, 1983 - could this be the last song of the last evening, and thus the Love over Gold tour?
The roadies coming on to start dismantling the set was a ‘thing’ of Dire Straits concerts at the time. It was a clear message to the audience that that was it, show’s over, no more encores, go home. The Alchemy concerts were indeed the final two nights of the Love Over Gold tour. I wish I’d been there.
