Imperial Knights vs Orks - 2000pts Warhammer 40,000 9th Edition Battle Report
The dice luck for the knights player was absolutely stinking! Surely well, well above average in terms of 1s and 2s rolled!?
Hi, thank you for this video. You forgot the ammo runt with flash gitz. +1 attack for the truck during the waagh
You neutered the Thousand Sons. lol you don’t role to hit with the infernal master and you also turn something to a 6 every battle round. I don’t believe you shot Magnus’ smaller gun the entire game and he is also +1 to hit and wound and it would’ve made a difference almost every time you attacked with him. You don’t roll to hit with flamers. Dev wounds is almost always better for psychic attacks - especially for the infernal master. The doombolt at the end wasn’t needed and you should’ve double moved Magnus on to the middle objective. It is a finessing army so they are hard to play for sure.
That Belial is the old Azreal model I'm sure! So could have used him for az and the proxy for Belial but doesn't really matter haha good report :)
thank you for the game, otherwise do you have a positive answer regarding my first turn in genestealer teleportation? Again thanks to you
Sorry for my english I m french 😅
im enjoying the battle report but the passengers cant fire into the combat from the vehicle unless targeting a monster or vehicle. They are not part of the combat and if they were they could only fire pistols
Sorry, do you mean the Flash Gits?
Hey lads, Long time listener, first time caller - great work on your videos and great battle report! Been a fan for a long time, keep them coming! If I could provide one friendly piece of constructive criticism - I’m not sure whether it’s general inexperience or just not being familiar with the game/armies, but I did notice that there was quite a lot of confused moments in this BR between both the players and the person behind the camera, which created a few conflicting arguments and conversations. Might be worth sitting down and reviewing the rules/datasheets potentially before you play, just to have a more familiar understanding that’s all. All meant in the kindest of ways though, keep rocking on!
Great game guys, just a little note. Anti-X does mean they critical on that value. So anti vehicle 4+ would be critical wound (aka devastating) on a 4+
It’s not like dev wound anti-x mean you crit on X+
@@kaczmarr100 oh yes you are right, but a couple of occasions I believe a unit had anti-x and a dev wounds ability and in the game and it was played separately. For example with anti vehicle 4+ and devastating wounds. It was played wounding on a 4+ and devastating on a 6+. It is easily done, as I know I have accidentally played it this way before because it feel like it is designed to help a lower str weapon wound easier. But you know, not a big deal.
Awesome BR
Great vid! I might have missed it but it sounded like orders were issued to the bullgryns. As they are not regiment and lord solar is not on the board Im sure that is not allowed?
A few thoughts regarding the video and battle report: 1. Great battle report overall with great armies and that amazing scheme on the Knights - the table and armies look so good!! Props for that. 2. I’m not sure if the Knights player was generally new to the game, or new to playing Knights in particular, but it did seem as if they weren’t sure about a lot of the dice rolls needed or rules for their models. Not necessarily a negative, just what I noticed that’s all. 3. I think it’s probably best for the cameraman behind the camera to not intervene with the game - there were multiple instances where they would go to remove models, stipulate what dice results were needed etc. that caused a bit of confusion among the players at times. Again, not a negative but something to keep in mind for future videos.
Love the video, only comment was the mic audio was quite echoey don’t know if that can be fixed. Otherwise a fantastic game very entertaining!
Thanks very much for the comment, really appreciate it. I messed up on the audio, I processed both mics which is why there’s an echo. Only realised after uploading after it was too late. Thankfully it wasn’t too bad but yes, it won’t be a problem in future vids cheers
To be fair, Rob is a walking codex usually, this was his first outing with guard, but appreciate the feedback he could have killed me far easier lol
I normally try to watch the entire vid before commentating but every single unit that shot at the Pink/Blue Horrors rolled 1's to hit after the Scout Sentinel did daring recon. Guardsman, please spread the word, read and reread the data cards. I genuinely can't wait for 6-12 months down the line for the Guard community to learn how to use the army abilites cohesively. Still have NOT seen it anywhere online.
I love that Necron color scheme.
I really like how you run through your lists and explain what each unit does, how it fits in the army and what combos there are. It’s great insight that I personally really enjoy! Keep up the good work guys, your bat reps are great!
Good report. Although I would shorten the intro. 30mins before the battle actually starts put me off.
Urgh.. knights just seem so hamstrung after the most recent dataslate, just boring stat checks despite how stunning they look.
Yeah it’s a real shame, they are stunning on the tabletop but the limited numbers make them really hard to balance. They are either extremely op like in 8th, or just super underwhelming
@@ToolsofWarthey were super balanced in 9th and amazing fun to play as well. Really sad we lost that codex, 10th has really hollowed them out as a faction
Titanic models can’t overwatch anymore? Think the crusader did it at some point
Yeah you’re right. That rule escaped us. Thanks for pointing it out. Seems quite harsh but I get what they are trying to achieve. They should maybe make it 2CP to balance it out rather than removing it altogether
"I don't want to play knights anymore", "what do you want to play?" "Wraith Knights" - Lee 😂
Don't know if someone mentioned this before but You NEED to try Hellbrecht in at least a 5man sword brothers squad so he can get that sweet 2 damage sweep attack and so the brothers can get that 5+ crit (transport Strongly advised)
Yes, thanks. We're trying that in our next bat rep which should be appearing soon. Just waiting on Scott to finish painting them and our new landraided
If both players have fight first, then defenders go first. So the DG should have struck first. GG though.
Thanks for the feed back 👍
That turn 2 for the DG with the death guard was horrible and then you forgot that Morty ignores all modifiers so no minus 1 to hit and armour of contempt does nothing. Lol
Yeah when I was processing the video I text Rob and said we totally forgot Morty's ignores modifiers. Could have had an impact. Definitely makes him more of a boss!
GG!
A nice game for the orks 😊
darn it, you spoiled it for me
@@dicedoom7162 oops sorry 🥺
Let's gooo!!! WAGGGHHH!!! :D Thank you for the BREP!
Lovely battle report! I don't think two same meele weapons (macro skalpels) swing at the same time, unless thy have extra attacks rule. Plus, vehicles and mosters can shoot at units in cc or outside cc and be shot at while being in combat with -1 to hit, unless weapons are pistols.
Love seeing a firstborn heavy Wolves army
Interesting leaving the servitors until last with Grimaldus' squad. I take 2 off first using their 4+ invun and 5+ fnp, then leave the last one alive until the end. Only need the one to unlock abilities and they are able to tank some wounds off of the crusaders so they can hit harder in combat, when they eventually get there😂.
Interesting idea. Will try that in the next bat rep which we've got coming soon!
Two words… sword brethren
Tyranids are overall better then marines you just have a bad list in this game
Yeah, we're gonna try a meta list with them next match and put them through their paces. They are doing well in the tournament scene with specific lists
You do you guys, but the amount of complaining has put me off any future vids.
Scrolling through this video, the dice tray seem to be 50% of it. Guys, it's not THAT interesting.
Yeah, we've just invested in a camera for a dice tray BUT, if you've just scrolled through I don't think you can really judge whether it's not THAT interesting or not
Oof. A fun list vs a competitive list, and the tyranids didnt really have a plan. Against a marine list like that youll need more zoans, at least one tyrranofex, exocrines, and more big bugs. Gotta go in hard on one side and try to keep part of his army from shooting, give lots of targets, shoot the tank off the board, and then deep strike in trygon w rapid ingress on other flank to press the weak spot. Or something like that. Uphill battle that rolled backwards. In this list, a walking hive tyrant would have faired better, w the free strats, as swarmlord wants a big ol bag of big bugs to run in with him and smash as hard as possible.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, Nids aren't necessarily a bad army, you just need to play very specific models to be competitive. The codex is out soon and I'm gonna start refining the Nids list. I'm sure the meta will completely change before then but the next time they appear I'm gonna play a competitive list with them
Interesting Bat Rep boys, think under the right circumstances Ad Mech would work into certain armies but you can see they are on the weaker side of things
Is this a bat rep or a tau list review? Geeez
It's a new edition with new rules so we went into more detail than usual on them
what model did he use for his emporers champion?
Think it's one of the primaries lieutenant models who has a sword. They actually look very similar
If you think space marines are bad. Wait until you play against elder.! Cheers for the batrep
Yeah Craftworlds are just nuts. There are definitely some outliers in the power balance currently. Marines are in a decent spot, Ultras just get take the biscuit with double oath 😂
Tyranid are a good army, but a very *tricky* army. Just going teeth-first into the guns of the enemy doesn't work. You need some serious shenanigans, with lots of units in reserves and deep strike, multiple small units, and a light character load. They can win, but you're always going to have to work for it. (And when teh Biovore nerf drops, and it will, it's going to be a BIG climb out.)
describing it as tricky does not make it a good army. It should be toward bottom tier for an army. The only thing thats keeping it high-mid tier is the biovore with secondary missions shenanigans.
i like the green and teal necron color scheme
Yeah that's Rob's necron colour scheme. I like it too, think it pops on the table and looks a bit different whilst still retaining that Necron feel
Squighog boys have a 5+ FNP. You missed it completely when the Termies shot them. Entertaining report though!
Yeah we completely missed that one. Will remember that one next time, they seem a strong unit. Thanks for the comment!
@@ToolsofWar they are very good. I tend to use 'ard as nails or unbridled carnage. With T7, they are very durable.
Great battle report guys, you two are very watchable. Will definitely tune into future shows.
Thanks very much, really appreciate the nice feedback!
Yeah it was one of my faveourite battle reports!
@@John_the_badass Thanks very much!
The Tyrannofex can´t take any enhancements as he doesn´t have the charakter keyword.
Yeah we were playing this one before all the official rule sets had been released so we had to make a few assumptions. We've just played Nids with all the rules which will be coming out on Saturday 👍
@@ToolsofWar Ah alright. I wish we could take the enhacements for monster like we could in 9th.
@@Dewoy1 Yeah, I think that would make them a bit more competitive to be honest. Currently a lot of units feel a bit meh. I miss the crusher stampede days from 8th edition 🙈
@@ToolsofWar I just got in, in 9th. Sorry i dont get that reference. 😅 Nids will probably get some spicy buffs when the codex comes out. And i really hope they make the Pyrovore/Biovore´s nasrty, as i m in love with the new model!
@@Dewoy1 Yeah really like the new models, going to have to invest in three of each!
note: your broadsides has weapon support system you mentioned at the start. soo you would ignore any or all hit modifiers including stealth or clouds of flies and like the guy mentioned markerlight ignore cover too. despite the outcome the marines wouldn't get cover as crisis were observed by pathfinders which have markerlight to ignore cover also. also missed kauyon for cyclic on blasters with crisis suits, not much missed there but seemed like you remembered. also cloud of flies and being in combat , you can't get more than +1/-1 to hit your cadre fireblade is affected by beach and clear rule as its part of the unit also.
If you use a storm shield to give a better saving throw, you should start taking wounds from that miniature, I think. Also Doesn’t orks have T5??
Yeah both correct, if I'm not mistaken we played to both of those rules unless something slipped through the net?
storms shields doesnt improve armor save. It provides you with 4++ or +1wound (if you already have a 4++)
War boss gives +1 to hit
Yeah, that slipped through the net but didn't impact the game too much. Thanks for the feedback though!
Great thing with the skorpekh destroyer with there lord since they can choose any/all with there whirling onslaught they will always be hitting on 2s
Yeah hitting on 2's just make them blender most things. If you can get them into combat without getting shot of the board they are a very scary prospect now
@ToolsofWar yeah that's why I'm trying it with the veil of darkness so hopefully can get into combat a bit quicker to take out a critical unit before being wiped off the board well that's the theory if my dice rolling says anything about it that won't happen, just recently found the channel loving it definitely a new subscriber
@@616mrdevil Thanks very much. I think Skorpekh could be a really good shock attack unit that just obliterates key targets. If they can survive a turn factoring resurrection protocols, they can just terrorise a flank. The key thing and challenge is not allowing them to be shot off before they can make an impact, veil of darkness will definitely help. Those 9 inch charges from reserves always fail when you need them 🤣
@ToolsofWar of course I was playing against my friend who was space marines with my tau 80% of my rolls were 2 or below except when I got fed up and charged my ghostkell into combat as a hail Mary as I'd already lost the game apparently my dice like Tau melee 😄
As a BT player, definitely recommend a Land Raider. Also the Primaris Sword Bretheren squad are very good, much more so than Bladeguard. One squad with Helbrecht leaves room for 10 other models in the land raider and they hit like the hand of the Emperor himself. With Oath of Moment I’ve had just that 5 man squad plus Helbrecht take out knights. Crunching some numbers you are at a 50/50 to kill a full knight without Oath, with Oath rerolls you are at a 94% chance to kill. 2 damage attacks on 4 models with either sustained hits or lethal (or both for a CP) on 5+, 3 damage attacks on the castellan brother, and Helbrecht’s mortals plus his attack profiles also getting the +1 damage buff is insane. Also having S6 power weapons is a really good breakpoint and if you are facing 1W hordes you just take the +1A instead of +1D. Quite a beatstick for 270 points. Also, I wasn’t quite sure based on the video, but without a character attached, the Primaris Crusader squads have Scout 6”, which helps with that footslogging.
Thanks for the great feedback. I actually have an undercoated Land Raider and a unit of Sword Bretheren waiting to be painted so they've just jumped up the priority list. Mobility was definitely the issue for me here so I think with a good delivery system, it would make all the difference. Hellbrecht is a monster when he eventually gets where you need him. I did consider the scout move for the Crusaders but I think it would have put them in no-mans land so I didn't bother. On some tables it would be super useful though. Thanks for your suggestions
I hope GW work on DG It's ridiculous. By the way can I ask how you go that yellowish green colour on the PBC? It's really cool.
Hey, thanks for watching. Yeah, DG need a bit of a rework, not too much but a few tweaks to make them balanced. The paint scheme is an undercoat of Corax White, all over shade Seraphim Sepia, all over shade Cassadora Yellow then very light drybrush of flayed one flesh. The slime is 8 parts UHU glue, 1 Part Screamer Pink, 1 Part Bicarbonate of soda. Gives you a slime like consistency that will begin to harden in about 5 mins. Once fully dry (takes about 6 hours) quick over brush of Screamer pink/white mix. Then wash with druchi violet. After the model has been varnished apply a cost of gloss varnish with a brush on the slime to make it look gross and wet. Hope this helps!
@ToolsofWar thankyou and no problem 😊 yeah It would be boring if they were indestructible but I would like to see them get a bit of a shake up just to address the blatant issues.
Unfortunately i think 10th edition was rushed out, and not enough time to flush stuff out. Death Guard is poop right now, Chaos Knights getting hit because of Imperial Knights rampaging tournament, when its IK blanket rule that makes them good. Eldar being released as strong as they were amd after first nerf are still excellent. Then GSC from nowhere being great as well. Its like GW got a whole new rules team who hates Chaos amd loves Imperium and certain Xenos.
The game could definitely have done with more play testing but I guess there are so many armies it's very hard to get everything right first time. I'm going to judge things after the first wave of balancing as I think that's when it's fair to judge the rules and games when there has been so much feedback. I agree, certain armies are lagging far behind some of the front runners
@ToolsofWar I completely agree, with the amount of armies to have a fully balanced drop would be impossible. And from the looks of it, the rules team is taking ideas from the masses, so maybe DG will get some love. I've played only 3 games of 10th so far, and I always feel like no matter what I was playing against (marines, Guard, and Nids) my force seemed so underwhelming. Barely any models, and with their slow speed and less durability I would never make it to the other side of the board unless I was playing against a melee army.
