Amazing gun!! The Desert Eagle is so amazing!! Love your channel!!
@@FreemontCarver Thanks! Yeah doing Shorts are a little cumbersome, but something different!
Glock 40 is still the same frame.
@@Rayvisin Not exactly. I tried to put a G40 Gen 4 MOS slide on my G20 Gen 3 frame and it does not fit. The slight difference in clearance cut for the dual springs on the Gen 4 make it not doable.
@991turbogeek yes true sorry forgot u had a gen 3. My 21 slide fits on my 40 frame
@ Yeah, I was bummed!
The more I see the new style DE’s the more I like my vintage weaver version. Just looks so much cleaner than the full rails imho. That brake looks like it makes a huge difference 👍
@@MrNiceKnife Yeah the muzzle brakes work a little too good for my taste!
Cool Desert Eagle!! Awesome video as always!!
@@FreemontCarver Thanks man!
Hilarious! Cant believe you bought one. You sir have a tru addiction!
@@pistolperrynoya9469 Yeah this is definitely getting ridiculous! Thankfully there’s really nothing else on my want list so I should be safe!
Well, it will probably be popular down at the shooting range. I do like the brushed slide and black barrel. How well does the porting work at reducing recoil?
@@juliandrake3159 The porting/muzzle brake works too well, I rarely use them. To me, I LIKE the major recoil, it’s really what 50AE is all about!
It doesn't look bad at all and being from 2020 It's not tacky like all the new Trump guns out there.
@@cbayless4294 That’s what I thought, the slide is very subtle and the grips can come off in 2 seconds if you’re through making a statement!

Holy my guy, you best take care of that beauty! What a look! 👍
@@malikkwyd Thanks! Yeah of all my D.E.s there’s just something about this combo that stands out without being over the top!
@ Yeah, of course man! Have a nice day, and I hope you enjoyed it!
Does your Glock 20sf flex slightly when gripping it tightly ?
@@Siah-q5v To be honest, yes it does feel that way. However, I’ve been told it’s just my imagination/perception. Compounding the issue is that I have a bad technique habit of unknowingly readjusting my grip after every shot. But not when I rapid fire. I just try to practice more and watch my own video.
Congrats. Wish I had more than 1. Perfect ejection, smaller piston?
@@MrNiceKnife Thanks! No, actually this was using the normal piston but with the standard Hornady 300gr rounds. Those loads tend to work like they were made for the long (stock) piston combo. I usually swap pistons around depending on the hotness of the ammo (people think I’m nuts but hey, unless you’re into D.E.s you just wouldn’t understand, right??)
@ definitely, I just replaced the hammer assembly on mine because it broke. I’ve replaced main springs, tried coil spring vs polymer on the extractor, different powder loads and have yet to have it function 100%. That piston looks like a genuine upgrade. Love my DE
Do you have a video showing the different pistons? I reload for my 50 DE and it would be a great way to tune loads.
@@MrNiceKnife I did a video called “Desert Eagle major part change” which talks about the new recommended piston for hotter loads, mostly the Magnum Research 350gr or Underwood 300gr FMJ (technically a TMJ). It’s basically just the L5 piston which effectively reduces the over pressure effects that cause the timing issue of bolt engagement. Those are the only two pistons. Bottom line, hot loads need the short piston but normal loads (like the standard Hornady 300gr) work fine with the stock long piston. The easiest way to find that video is to narrow it down in my “DE Playlist,” I have too many other videos on my channel to just search. Hope this helps!
@ Ive shot various rounds out of my DE and reloads of my own, Hornady, black box magnum research, freedom munitions etc. I haven’t seen a huge difference in the different rounds as far as fps. The powder charge on 50AE is HUGE typically 33 grains of H110. I assume that piston lets some of the gas bleed out of the system as it is generally over gassed (or at least it seems that way).
@ That H110 gives great flames! Technically, so they say, the shorter piston is kind of like a lower compression piston in an engine, essentially taking a lot of the compression/oomph out of the recoil speed, which is the crux of the too fast slide speed throwing the bolt alignment off just enough to mess with the shell casing trajectory. I’m glad someone besides myself finds this interesting. 🤣
@@991turbogeek grip has a lot to do with ejection also. The gun is so powerful that the right hand twist actually causes the gun to rotate left with a weaker grip. Thus causing brass to eject towards the face. I’ve looked at my own videos especially from people that don’t shoot and you can really see it happening. Awesome gun, design, and power! I’m surprised you don’t have any of the extended barrels!
@@MrNiceKnife No extended barrels yet, but who knows, it might make for a good video! But there’s a few quirky models I’m eyeballing next!
Just got my own MVII DE in .44 and it is AMAZING, will put an old mount and scope for the range days but otherwise it stays as is in nitrous oxide black
@@mosessanchez1426 Awesome, congrats and welcome to the club! Like I always say, ANY model or version of a Desert Eagle is all good, and the plus side is that you can always change barrels or assesories if or when you want!
How do you acquire these in California? I'm trying to find a polished steel DE in 44 Magnum (CA legal) and can't find one anywhere. I have a 50AE barrel for it already.
@@juliandrake3159 Good question. Each one had different issues to deal with, too many to list here. I did do a vid on the difference between a CA version and all others and briefly touched on getting ones like the gold TS (check out my “DE” Playlist on my channel). In short, there’s a few ways that all involve a substantial increase in cost, time, and a little bit of luck. In your case, if polished a 50AE is the goal (it’s one of my favorites) then that would be fairly doable. As you’ mentioned, buying a polished CA model and slapping on the barrel is the easiest way but nearly impossible to find one. Plan B would be to purchase a fairly common brushed chrome one and have it polished. The key here is finding the right metal finishing shop. Striping it down to the shell yourself would be best, but not everyone is up to the task. Also, doing your homework and knowing exactly what parts are NOT to be polished is the key, otherwise it’ll look weird. This latest white TS was very costly as it involved purchasing a brand new Stainless barrel AND slide and THEN having them stripped at the factory along with the black appointments. This all went onto a new CA brushed chrome frame/complete gun since there are no legal CA stainless frames and the frame is the critical part in keeping it legal. Frames are the key, they’re mentioned in the same breath as ghost guns so nobody wants to go there! Good luck with the polished CA D.E. and let me know how it works out.
@@991turbogeek Thanks for the response. I have a gun store I like up in Irvine, Fowler Gun Room, and they are trying to get a polished DE for me. I know what you mean regarding non-roster models. Fowlers sometimes gets things that are not on roster like Taran Tactical and Staccato handguns that they sell on consignment but the markup is huge, like twice what they sell for in free states. I've thought of purchasing a polished 44 mag DE and sending it back to Magnum Research to have it polished. I might need to go that route eventually. I have a bronze CA legal DE with a black 50AE barrel, which is a great color combo, but I really want to add the polished one to my collection. Plus, the polished 50AE barrel I have is ported so I'm eager to try it out. Love the tiger striped models.
@ Good luck and keep me posted, I love it when a plan comes to fruition!
Gold is cool, but that silver is sharp! Best Desert Eagle vids of on RUclips! I only have 1 DE, just how many in your collection?
@@pistolperrynoya9469 Yeah the stainless definitely has a very unique finish, and the tiger stripe version does seem to be a little less gold chain-ish! This one makes 5. Ugh, it’s an addiction.
Not bad looking!! that brake works well, pretty flat shooting Nice!!!
@@cbayless4294 Thanks! Yeah the IMB does do what it’s supposed to, that’s for sure. I’d almost call it controllable but maybe not quite!
@@991turbogeek I'd be disappointed if they shot controllable. The WOW factor is what for me makes the DE worth buying and paying a couple of arms for ammo.
@ I agree! I’ll add that the muzzle brake and non-IMB are two different guns, but each worthy: The non-IMB may have loose groupings but instead huge recoil and fire rings to make up for it!
@@991turbogeek I love that fire ball!!!
Do you know of any other semi autos that shoots revolver cartridges? I’m surprised they aren’t everywhere.. I haven’t done much research tho
@@bravobear1844 Good question! I’m pretty sure that the LAR Grizzly also shoots the same 50AE and I “think” that the Wildey Magnum fires a 44 magnum but I’m not 100% sure on that one. Both are interesting guns to own, not the most reliable but collectible nevertheless!
Great video as always! Got to love the Desert Eagle! Looks amazing in stainless!! Your channel is amazing!!
@@FreemontCarver Again, thanks man, I really appreciate the comments! Yeah the stainless definitely has a different shade.
So I just recently purchased a Glock 40 and noticed it had the same problem as your 20, BUT I solved the puzzle and was wondering if you were able to correct yours?
@@armedarchangel9567 Well, I actually just continue to use the manual fix (like I showed in vid) where I just make sure the pin is pushed all the way in by pressing that button (sorry, I’m not sure the name!). It’s an extra step but only takes a sec. So yeah, if you know how to skip that step I’m always open to a better way! Thanks.
@991turbogeek Ok, so I was the guy that gave you some info about your barrel and recoil spring you got for your G20, but look at your Glock when putting it back together. Notice the reset is not fully engaging the firing pin safety, so if you reset the trigger before putting together it will go back on without having to reset the firing pin, you will notice that it goes on without a problem. I did the same and the last time it got hung up and I put some force on it while reassembling and it completely stopped having the issue. Hope that helps
@@991turbogeek I'm thinking it might just have been a burr somewhere within the trigger grouping that is catching on the firing safety pin (Or Visa/Versa) and once played with, it grinds off and allows for a correct reassemble.
@@armedarchangel9567 Thanks for the ideas, I’m definitely going to play around with it a bit and see. I do recall someone else mentioning resetting the trigger and while that might solve it (that’s one of things I’m going to play with) I guess the big mystery is why others have also had this same issue. Maybe machining tolerances, I’m a firm believer that some models just have looser tolerances in certain areas. Regardless, thanks for the inputs, the more experience from others the better.
@@991turbogeek 🙏🏼
What light did you install?
@@robertnevarez7599 It’s a very basic (ie inexpensive) model, the “GMconn 700 lumen.” It charges in a USB port and is no frills but a true 700 lumen. Less than $20 on Amazon. Perfect for home defense pistol where it won’t be used constantly, not that it couldn’t be. I have them on 3 pistols, never had an issue with any of them.
@ thank you!
Qhere do you aim on your target to get that group. Were do you place your front sight on the target?
@@votered3539 To be honest, I do not co-witness my red dots to the front sight. I only aim the dot directly on target and that’s it, the front sight does not come into play. I’ve had really good luck using a bore sight laser initially when the optic is installed (straight down the hall in my living room!) and then when at range it’s just minor adjustments. I don’t use a bench, so I’ll shoot 20 rds to account for any shakes or flinches. Hope this helps.
Have you looked into a P365 Radian build? Essentially just buy a X-Macro grip module, a Radian Ramjet + Afterburner, and the Radian Backstrap and Magwell. 50 states legal comp setup and reduces recoil up to 50%.
@@Tango_999 Since I posted this, yes I have researched it and it’s definitely a potential! Thanks for the comments.

@@FreemontCarver Thanks!
i saw you got the non compensator threaded 20 barrel did you not like the size of the compensator? just wondering because i seen that its the same size as the 40 and maybe it was a problem for you?
@@Invisiii No, no issue. To be honest I just wanted to keep it as same as possible with the stock barrel, the main reason for the change at all was really the tighter tolerances and standard rifling (as opposed to the stock polygonal). Either way though, as I’m sure you know, the 10mm is a brute using Buffalo Bore or Underwood 180gr and just fun to shoot!
@ oh good, good to hear I do love the 20 and I also love this compensator I think it’s an amazing barrel and it really makes shooting 10mm more better. Also I love the videos you make and the collection keep making videos!!

Have you guys been experiencing rust?
@@diabrotic Not that I’ve noticed. But since you mentioned it I’ll start looking closer.
@991turbogeek I'm also in California so our options are not super great. The gun has definitely caught my attention due to its slim design and coming optic ready but people talking about the rust has made me more hesitant going forward. Great video btw
@ Thanks! I’ll certainly keep looking close and post another vid if I see anything. And you’re so right, it’s not like we have a ton of selection here. Although I must say that after a rocky start with my Ruger Max-9 I’m really starting to like it. You probably run yours more than most. Preferred ammo?
@ My fav is Hornady 300gr and here’s why: While I’ve seen prices anywhere from $50-$35 per boxes of 20, I can usually find those $35 deals just by watching for them. Also, even though their powder is sometimes inconsistent, for the most part there’s usually BIG flames/fire rings if using non-IMB barrel (makes for better video!). Underwood is also excellent, it’s actually the hottest round I’ve found. The Magnum Reseach 350gr is also very hot, but you must use the L5 gas piston or shell ejection will be erratic (forehead brass tats). I have a few vids on just that subject. Check out my channel if you’re really into Desert Eagles, I have a “D.E. Playlist” with a lot of content. There’s ammo comparisons etc. Thanks.

Do you use recommended ammo from Magnum Research? Asking because i recently purchased a DE, and ran into jamming issues. Sent it back to M.R. and their report said the jamming was caused by lead ammo. Slick looking DE!
@@supaplaya31 Thanks! You can use 50AE ammo that’s not on their ammo list but it cannot have any exposed lead on the “flame” side as it will eventually clog the gas port thereby likely causing jamming. It’s always best to stick with the brands they recommend.

And thanks for the comments!
@@991turbogeek I've checked a lot of your vids out ! They've taught me a lot.
I have one, and like ours, every third , or so, case ejected hits my head. Some go right, some go left, some go straight backward. Eye protection is a MUST! I do handload to keep costs reasonable so I can shoot more. I replaced the OEM combat sights with Millett Adjustable target sights which are a huge improvement. Also Hogue hardwood grips are a nice replacement. All are available from BFR. Mine has never jammed nor malfunctioned.
@@claiborneeastjr4129 Thankfully, the brass head shots can be solved with the use of the L5 “shorty” gas piston. Check out my D.E. Playlist, I have a few vids on the use of that piston and why it works. I only have it on my black D.E., I shoot the hot loads with it so it needs it the most. Call Magnum Research directly, they might warranty it and send you the shorty piston free if you tell them about the brass headshots, but if not, it’s worth buying it anyway. Every shot will exit over your right shoulder when using it. Sounds like your D.E. is set up pretty nice!
@@991turbogeek Thanks for that info. I have heard of the shorty gas piston and apparently it does work.
You should try getting into reloading! I spent about 200$ on a press and tools, and now my 50AE is about 60 cents instead of almost two dollars. Shooting 200 rounds already made up the difference!
