Tips on ordering clearance items from Azure & small Azure order

Whenever I order from Azure I always shop the clearance / bargain bin items. You don't always get the clearance items that you order. So in this video I share some tips on shopping clearance items from Azure so hopefully you will be more likely to get the clearance items you want. Plus I share what I got in my small Azure order. To check out Azure for yourself click here: www.azurestandard.com/...
With cost of gas, it doesn't make sense to buy off Facebook marketplace unless the seller is close by.
Do you plug the hose?
Thanks a lot
What is a glass top stove?
I have been weighting my jars in grams. I can promise you my Azure weigh more than my Ball or Root and Harvest Jars. In all fairness the Root and Harvest jars weigh more than the Ball quart jars.
Can't get it to seal....just won't do it........
Thank you 🙂
So all you showed us was how to make the trays. Maybe change the title?
Someone posted that she had grasshopper eggs that hatched in spring! Definitely treat the soil too. Someone posted a how-to on it but I can’t remember who. A water bath of I think rubbing also ok and water, maybe? But search and I’m sure you’ll find it.
Oh my! The grasshopper eggs hatching would be crazy inside your house!
You can scrub if you want to but nothing and I do mean nothing works better than a razor blade. It doesn’t scratch it lifts up all the burnt on crud and make sure cooktop look like brand new. I find one blade last me for years.
I saw in Indian shop similar plant called methi is it purslane?
Can I leave the tube inserted into the port of the machine all the time, even when sealing bags? (I had a devil of a time getting it all the way into the port.)
Make sure you are twisting when you insert the hose. You should be able to leave it in because you are going to use a different button when sealing with the accessory port versus the actual sealer on the machine.
I don't recommend using your fingers to rub it off, the plasticizers can be unhealthy to say the least. Rubbing it heavily will cause a good amount to be absorbed into your fingers. Use gloves or at least a paper towel.
After you vacuum seal the jars, when you need some of it but not all do you vacuum seal again and again?
Great question! Yes. I vacuum seal each time I take something out of it.
@@AllAboutTheHarvest And do you need to use a new lid anytime you reseal or can use the same lid?
@@YiskahBatYerushalayim You can reuse the same lid again and again for vacuum sealing! 🙂
❤❤❤ So Thank you :)
Don’t heat honey past 99 degrees otherwise it destroys the healing properties!
so glad to see the use of the jar sealer without the tubes. Thanks for putting this out there!
Thanks so much for this video. I just tried it, and it works. I used my fingers, just as she did, but I found that a wet sponge, dipped into the baking soda/water slurry, worked even better for me. Problem solved!
Talk about going around all the houses to get to the rear gate .
I am from Jamaica living in South Florida. And I know purslane from Jamaica when I was growing up my mother would steamed it like spinach. There’s a lot of purslane growing along the lake and, it even grows in the grass behind the condo buildings but, I would not eat those because, the neighbors walked their dogs and the dogs Poo and pee on them.
Great vegetable. Extremely easy to grow. Should be much more often cultivated. 🎉
How do you serve the juice? Do you drink it as is or add water or sugar?
What are your thoughts on the every bit counts challenge? what are your takeaways and lessons learned? Were there things you would or wouldn't preserve again?
This worked, thank you.
Have tried Spirits on plastic e.g umbrella handles & remote backs .Which is affective; quick but can damage your goods being overly aggressive on your plastic. Diluted with a water applied to rag with only a small amount of spirits applied to the rag after . As did not have Isopropyl Alcohol on hand to tryout.
I dont see the link for the canisters. Can you pin that link please. I loved this video it was very helpfull
I couldn't find that canister set anymore, but I did find this ONE that was available: amzn.to/3TKgX31
@@AllAboutTheHarvest thank you so much!🥰
@@DeDe-dz3hm You are welcome!
What about dehydration for storage
You are by far the best with explaining all about pressure canning. Thank you Jodi.. GOD bless you
Thanks so much for making this vid! I am new to canning and have been stressing over which lids to get but wasn't sure if the 2 sizes were standard or if it mattered if they were for qrt or pint jars. Stress relieved! ❤
I'm so glad this helped you!
What did you preserve for the last 7-10 days in August?
I would agree with your assessment of the freezing method. I've found that freezing them before de-stemming really makes a mess because they thaw out pretty quickly and become mushy. The fork method on fresh berries gives me the best results. Alternatively, if you are making elderberry juice/syrup, you can go direct to a steam juicer and not even have to worry about getting the fine parts of the stems off. That does not work if you want to keep whole berries, though.
I agree on all parts! When I use my steamer juicer I rinse them off with the sprayer on my faucet. I cut off the majority of the big stems and put the rest in the steamer juicer!
Very good informative video, thank you. I put that s...t on everything. Taste little citrus like, slimy texture to me. Refreshing.
Besides saving your harvest, you can buy food in bulk and save it in jars. I just sealed ten pounds of black beans in three half gallon mason jars like the ones used for spinach in the video. The "best buy" date on the package is about three years in the future. As I open one of the large jars I will transfer the contents to pint jars for ease of use. I do the same thing for rice - buy the huge bags and then shuffle them into half gallon jars. You can save a lot of money this way. I also keep flour in the jars but be warned that it has a much shorter shelf life - especially whole wheat flour. Use it or lose it.
Exactly! I also take larger bags of beans and rice and put them in mylar bags for longer storage. I have videos on that as well.
Is there a less expensive dehydrator than the Excaliber, that works well using the liquid dehydrating method?
I would say any horizontal dehydrator that can use those paraflex sheets. This Cosori could use those sheets, although I think the Excalibur is currently cheaper. Here is the link to the Cosori: amzn.to/3XFqEm5 and to the Excalibur that I use (You could always get the option with less trays to save money) amzn.to/3vSUT9v
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I have been concerned about getting a pressure canner. Saw one like yours(the 16 quart size) for $99 in Walmart. Went online to look at other pressure cookers and saw the same one for $78. I took that as a sign it’s time to buy. So I did. We been staring 👁️👁️👀at each other for 4 days. Then I found your video. 🥹 She’s coming out the box. 🤗Thank you so much.
I glad it was helpful!
😂
😂 she's coming out the box! Bravery provided! 😂
You did a FANTASTIC thorough review of this plant. I just bought 5 plants, at a local nursery. I knew that it would help my garden, by bringing in pollinators. But I didn't realize that i could eat virtually all parts of it! Awesome!
Thank you!
Is there different ratio if a recipe calls for salt if I used canning salt?
No. The amounts are the same whether it is canning salt or regular salt.
thanks.for.the tips. it works!!!
I just didn't push mine in all the way..... yey thanks
Glad it worked for you!!!
What did you preserve this week?
Lol at bage.
I just recently watched your video on canning on a glass top stove. I have no problem but as I use it the spill over leaves burnt on messes. I used the recommended product to clean and it still didn’t get it all off. I was wondering as a long time canner if you could suggest something
Yes! I actually created a video on how to clean glass top stoves and this is how I clean off those burnt on messes: ruclips.net/video/F6-pn2zFptE/видео.html
Sadly this happens because idiot manufacturers are using a coating to cover cheap plastic and make it look and feel posh, velvety. In a fairly short amount of time, that starts to perish and this happens. Baking soda acts as a abrasive agent and helps better than most solutions. For me it helped soften some of that coating on a lever wine bottle opener that I wasn't just ready to part with 😂.
I'm glad it helped!!!
Are these compatible with the Ball lids and rings?
Yes!!!
I put it in a vegetable stir fry. Onions, garlic, potato, carrots, chard, mustard greens, beet greens and a big slug of purslane. Season with a hot sauce, salt, pepper and herbs. Put it in a large fry pan, cover with olive oil and add a cup of water. High heat until the water steams off then cook it on a lower heat for a few more minutes. A delicious vegetarian meal in itself , for a little extra protein, I stir in a couple of eggs.
Never thought to add it to a stir fry! Thanks for sharing!!
Amazed! Baking soda and water works on my sticky lipstick tubes. Tried a bit of liquid soap and an old toothbrush…. ugh still sticky. Then I used the baking soda/water with toothbrush. Voila… like new… no stickiness! Thank you so much.
I'm so glad it helped!!
Who knew? I want one!
It's funny, because I've been fascinated with purslane since I was a little kid, but I didn't what it was, I just thought it was a neat plant. I used to put in my 'potions' that I 'brewed' lol. Only found out it's name and that it's edible last year!
If you figure the price of a case of jars with lids, rather than buying jars with out lids. The price per lid is really good. Instead of buying a box of lids.
You are correct! I didn't even look at the price with the lids and the rings because I have so many. The price difference is just under $2 to add the lids and rings on, which is cheaper than purchasing them on their own. Thank you for pointing that out!
I just ordered 4 cases of wide mouth pint and a half jars. I have been searching for these for so long. Thank you!
Could you please tell me what size the box is for the wide mouth jars? I have built a pantry rack. Thank you so much.
7 1/4 inch tall, 10 7/8 inches deep and 14 3/8 wide.
I'm glad you found this video and were able to order those jars!!!
@@AllAboutTheHarvest Thank you
