great thorough video how lng did it hold up that way im considering using a plate but gotta save every penny on my 82 caprice classic
@@lizardmangarage it held up nicely. Even with me beating on it a few times to see if I could break it. Of course tight parking and turns is almost impossible. But with a big hot welder a welded diff could last a while
I'm curious if you replaced the pinion gear along with the ring gear? I thought Ring&Pinion gears were a matched set. Also, I never would have thought the BBs from welding would have caused serious damage. I would have made that error too. There is an anti-spatter spray that welders use on their work benches that alows the bbs to not stick and slide right of the table top. Perhaps that stuff could be used on the the ring gear and the carrier the next time someone does this job 👍 Good vidya. Five stars.
tinfoil over the ring gear, then duct tape saved mine and I welded that shit in the housing, less work is always a win.... and at the point you were at, my question is... why did you not use a C-clip eliminator kit??? hate it when an axel and wheel leave that chat together and pass ya bouncing merrily along....
@@evelkoloski it was “just to do it” type of thing. The truck would have gotten a 9inch rear later on.
@@AndrewsMotorWorks 100% Just did it to a 10 bolt 7.5 26 spline deal in my monza... till it breaks she be good enuff!
So i have the 09 and stopped at 140, but was still going. so was the later part the v8 or nah? just wondering, either way you can't be the V6 G8 the top speed, the transmission alone the sleek stylish look of it. It's a masterpiece.
Sweet!
To do the 6.0 swap could I do it with just the gt motor wire harness or would I have to swap the chassis harness too ?????
The junkyard 6.0 your getting i assume will have to be spliced into the fuse box. I advice against that. If u can get a V8 G8 harness it will make everything clean and reliable and plug and play.
How did it hold up
Never cracked or broke a weld…from my experience and inspection 😂
NOBODY SHOWS THE RIGHT SIDE! I need to know how to get the right side done
Yo its been a minute 😅 lets get it going
Your audio sucks and I don't give a fuck about your shirt.
LOL, I love how it changes for the last clip to a GT!
Is the limiter on this?
🤷🏾♂️
What headers did you use?
Basic economy shorties
I’m gonna try this myself guid me right my guy
I hoped I inspired lots of people to get out and HotRod what they like.
did you have to change the engine cradle?
Does it matter if I have a truck cam kit in the motor or not ?? Its should all run the same if tuned properly right?
Truck cam lobes and lift is designed for the torque side of power making. You’ll still make power with a truck cam, not as efficient as an all around performance cam. Also a proper tune will always make a difference. An improper tune will always make a disaster.
@@AndrewsMotorWorks what can would you recommend for my gen 4 5.3 going into my g8?
@@V8von I can’t. Cause any cam u pick will leave u wanting more power. too big a cam will just start a domino effect of u needing more parts and more parts to accommodate what u pick. Go cheap and u won’t be happy and it will have u go back in and swap it out. Which means more money. Plan your build out first. Will it be All motor, NOS, turbo; the choice is yours
Gotta slap you with one more question 😂 are ls1 and ls2 rocker arms compatible with a gen 4 5.3?
@@V8von u got me there 🤷🏾♂️, I know ls3 base and ls7 are different. Ya gotta research
Did you need a new kframe or can I use the same v6 one ? Please let me know
K frame is still v6 stock. Going from v6 to v8 you’ll need the v8 “frame to engine mounts” and “v8 G8 motor mounts”.
@@AndrewsMotorWorks just v8 motor mounts and engine mounts ?
@@Mookster5_3 the motors connect to what is called a engine mount to frame mount. The v8 and v6 look similar but are different. And you’ll will need the Pontiac g8 v8 motor mounts. *the motor mounts bolt to the motor and then it is bolted to the “frame to engine mount, and then the frame to engine mount is bolts to the body. So to essentially understand the left side takes two mounts and the right side takes two mounts and then the two pairs of mounts are bolts to the body of the car.
@@AndrewsMotorWorks ok that’s I’ll get one do you know where I can find one ?? Please help
@@Mookster5_3 junkyard best bet.
Great video buddy 👍 👏 👌
Why nooooooooooo
I'm just starting a v6 to v8 swap with my son. Is it accurate that you just need to disconnect the trans computer in the kick panel when going with 6l80? thanks.
If your going to use a 6l80 with your LS swap , yes disconnect the old trans computer and in its place install the 6l80 computer and run the new wires.
@@AndrewsMotorWorks 6l80 does trans control in the ecu. Not separate.
ecu for engine tcm for trans bcm for body controls If your doing a late model ls swap with a 6l80 try and get an entire v8 engine harness and trans harness for a g8. It will make it very easy. And it can be emissions compliant if your state requires it
aww. Too bad these are out of stock. good video
Thanks
Please answer this for me can I cut the v6 drive shaft or do I need to buy another drive shaft ? I can’t use the same one ???
I absolutely recommend a new custom driveshaft and stronger ujoints. The stock unit is too small and thin
@@AndrewsMotorWorks that’s about another 2,000$ I bet wow so ima have to get another one great ! So should I buy this 3200 stall or keep the stock one ?
V6 trans won’t mate up. You’ll need a new converter of your stall choice to go along with your new trans.
@@AndrewsMotorWorks ok I’m going to get drive shaft off of a v8 one and I’m getting a FTL 3200 stall converter and stage 2 cam later I’m going to upgrade to maybe stage 3 cam and I’m getting head job and rockers
Putting my motor back in my G8 rn, how was all the wiring troubles overall to find where they go n plug into all the sensors?
Simple. Just plug and go
ayo any update on the Yukon engine? last time we seen it the pistons looked like the needed to be touched up a bit 😶🌫
Making working space 🫠
Got a fee questions on this
Did you weld both sides of the spider gears?
Sure did. All the way around
@@AndrewsMotorWorks and the axle shafts were able to slide in and out easy?
@@burnoutgarage8559 to my surprise- yes. I thought the extreme heat would warp the unit, but I had a back up rear.
@@AndrewsMotorWorkswas it a c lock with a clip?
@@burnoutgarage8559 stock unit from GM
did not get the Noti on this one good vid
Are they the high beam or low beam
Low beam , but they’re LED so u only get 6000k no matter low or high settings.
What's the ride height? What's the suspension, diff, transmission? Will the type Yukong be cage able. N hey some paint, and etc etc, be a nice cartel truck. Save it some how
07 Yukon Denali. Goggling that spec will tell u everything. 6.2 liter 4L80e and AWD
@@AndrewsMotorWorks ... so you not making any adjustments from factory. Right u said a drive and drag. Ok. Good luck on this one.
Wasnt ur name andrew42 😂
Hmmmm 🤔
love the video bro, I have a bone stock g8 and I want to swap it to an LS3 and I'm trying to educated myself on what to get for the swap, do you have a list of parts that I'll need for the swap, I already have a list of a couple things, just thought I should ask.
No. I didn’t keep a list I just spit balled it and kinda knew what needed to be done and what went where
Name it goku..... welcome back. U in new jerz right?
What kind of motor did you go away what year
5.3 LS red and blue pcm
is the LS blazer Manual Swapped? or did u just remove the center console? that Yukon looks like it could fit a nice LS3 but I could be wrong :D $500 is insane for any vehicle that has a body XD
The blazer has a powerglide trans. The Yukon has a 6.2 LS w/ 4l80e trans and it’s all wheel drive. 🫨
@@AndrewsMotorWorks golly That Yukon is gonna be way to much fun for street races once you get that puppy going
What oil pan did u use
Ls3

@@AndrewsMotorWorks 🤐💵
my buddies and i are swapping a v6 g8 to a 6.0 ls engine will it be plug and play other than the wire harness.?
Heck no
How’s the G8 so far
It be cool. 😆 if I still had it
Fallout new vegas nostalgia with the thumbnail lol
How can I fix mines ?
NOS lots and lots of NOS. lol
What motor did you go with
5.3
By the way, are you in jersey?
Yup
Anyone have issues with the abs module on their G8?
ABS system still operational like oem.
Hope all is good, waiting for the build
Thank u. I have recorded so much but I don’t know what to upload….and it’s cold outside
@@AndrewsMotorWorks ... ok, cool ready to check it, when. You roll it out. 😎👍
Did not know an 09 v6 was capable of that speed😅 thanks.
Been following this Build since day one . Interested in doing this Can the v6 4l60 be used ? What else is needed , ac compressor Line power steering ?
The v6 trans can not be used. It’s too weak. It was too weak for the v6’s and straight sixes that it was bolted behind. (This trans was mated to Cadillacs and BMW’s and etc. ) Power steering line will be custom made - use stainless steel braided lines. AC , depends on what ls swap mounts used. V6 AC lines will not reach and bend in a nice way to reach from the v6 location to the v8 location.
Damn g8 v6 is as fast as the v8
Wait so what kind of engine that was in the g8 a 5.3 you said ?
Yup 5.3
💔
