Tulsa River Park Trails - 2 Bald Eagles Feeding - One Takes Long Flight W/Tracking (10-3-24)
I was at 46th Riverside Dr where I had taken numerous videos. It was cool and around 8:00 AM. The sunrise was giving me enough light to see two Bald Eagles. I set up camera/tripod and was so lucky to track the one eagle for such a long distance. Gave me a tour of downtown Tulsa before landing in a tree about 3 blocks north of me.

Next to rugby field. Same location as young bald eagle on 9-29-24. It's amazing how they can turn their heads upside down.

Video taken just south of the soccer fields on west trail. I was trying to get video of a Bald Eagle, but it flew down to the river. I walked to the tree line next to the river and spotted these 8 common snapping turtles. It was hard to get good focus with wind blowing tree branches and leaves into my field of view. I counted 8 heads. A larger one first left and there was some type of loud nois...

Video taken from trail next to rugby field. I noticed the bird as I was riding north and spotted the bird. At first I thought it was a Turkey Vulture, but noticed the white tail feathers.

Shot this without a tripod at 44th and Riverside Dr. This is my first video of two hawks. It's also the first time I have seen why they are called Red-tailed hawks. I got off a quick couple of videos, then started setting up my tripod when the first hawk left. I changed location to get the front of the one remaining hawk, but the light was on it's back and video was not good. quality.

Taken at Monarch Waystation at 17th Denver. I was so lucky the day I shot these Monarch Waystation videos. I'll be checking every day for a different butterfly/moth or just a large volume would be nice to share.

This was taken at the Monarch Waystation on 17th and Riverside Dr. They don't stay put very long. I see them a lot, but they are hard to video.

This was taken at the Monarch Waystation at 17th and Riverside Dr off pedestrian trail. I slowed the video at end when a Spicebush Swallow tail and wasp wanted the same flowers as the Gulf Fritillary.

There are two Monarch Waystations at 17th Riverside Dr off the pedestrian trail. I was there around 9:00 AM with a sunny morning. Lots of beautiful Monarchs taking in nectar from the beautiful flowering plants. I will most two more videos of Gulf fritillary and Spicebush Swallowtail.

Shot this around 13th and Riverside Dr. This is a new species for my site. I noticed there were purple flowers in the area. I think they may be the flowers the butterflies lay their eggs. I'll check some of the plants with purple flowers to see if there are any eggs to follow as they develop.

This was taken just south of Riverside Dr and 41st Plaza. The large tree next to the river is a favorite spot for the Bald Eagles. You have too look closely because they hide. The lighting was not good, but I was lucky and got one coming in and one going out.

I was finishing up my ride and had already gotten some good Red-tailed hawk video. As I was approaching Crybaby Hill, I spotted this beauty through the trees. This is the electric tower close to Crybaby Hill off Riverside Dr.

This was taken on the west trail south of soccer filed. Looks like a trucking company. The hawk flew to another tree next to the river which had another Red-tailed hawk. I could not see them, and a third flew by calling to these two.

Shot this video off around 48th and Riverside Dr. They like this bare tree for looking out for food. When I did a frame by frame to find the best image for posting, I noticed how the birds beautiful short/fine feathers made the wings look like a Pair of Angle Wings. :)

This was taken by the PSO plant via the west trail. There were two Bald Eagles perched on opposite ends of the top of the tower. The one closest to the river view was blocked by power lines Maybe next time the will be side by side. :)
