Добавлен 24 май 2014
Gordon Morgans here! Amateur film critic and amateur expert on film. I love movies and the goal of this channel is to recommend you some great pieces in motion picture art! My main series revolves around covering directors and their filmography, while also exploring their style, evolution, cultural impact and life. I have a letterboxd as well so give me a follow and we can explore movies together!
I also have posted my series Poehtboy: Toby Hope, that I may or may not pick up again in the future. Below is a description of the series so if you like it, then let me know.
Toby Hope (aka username, Poehtboy) is a socially awkward, yet cynical young man trying to figure out his place in the world. Amidst hilarious awkward rendezvous' and tragically uncomfortable life moments. Toby would rather just stay home, yet what brings him out into the magical world of people? Join Toby in his mundane misadventures as he tries to come to understand people, the world, and himself.

Alfred Hitchcock (Reupload) - Retrospective and Introduction

My first few videos were not so great production wise. In fact they were downright horrible, but I keep them up because A) I feel disingenuous hiding my low efforts. Plus it's a way to see how much I've grown. B) I keep them up for the continuity of the series (for lack of a better term) These videos still embark through the major films completed by these filmmakers and anyone interested in exp...

If you're disgusted by both g*nocidal maniacs running for office, and the pressure to do something meaningful is taking a toll on your mental health, legendary protestor Howie Emmer has some words that definitely inspired and comforted me during this confusing time.

Single Review: Over The Garden Wall
Просмотров 145Месяц назад
This single review, I stretch beyond film to recommend a miniseries appropriate for Halloween. Autumn forests, and spooky mysteries, populate this moody, eerie, and hilarious animated adventure through a dark fantasy land. It's an Auburn special you'll want to watch every year.

Films are so easily accessible nowadays. Has streaming helped this? or is it detrimental to cinema? letterboxd.com/Harmonica_1/

>"I just had some interesting thoughts on it" >9 minutes of no interesting thoughts
You're a Beavis and Butthead fan so I don't expect you to have the mental capacity to find anything interesting.
@@Poetboyy Ah yes only high IQ individuals can understand your nuance. No, you're just a cringe normie has been
Good one Bro!
Good work man
Growing up in S. Africa as a kid in the 1970s we all knew his music and most of my friends had at least one of his albums, he was a legend.
13:32 arthouse jackass
Bro how are you this underrated 😭
@@LianoGD Don't upload consistently I guess.
If you watch this video on a loop for at least 1 hour and 12 minutes, you tear open a chasm into space itself, only then to discover all the secrets of the unknown universe
Like the saying Don't judge a book by its cover, don't judge a film by the trailer.
Reviewing trailers is one thing, reviewing a movie based off a trailer is another thing entire (unless the trailer does spoil everything or you can tell it's a "paint by numbers genre flick" like with Imaginary or Strangers Chapter One) even then wait until it comes out for actual judgments
Like I always say: if "ALIENS" or "The Terminator" came out today, RUclips would be filled with "brochachos" howling "Woke!" and "Girl boss!" lol
"if it's one thing i didn't want in a film about crime, poverty and mental illness, it's politics." dying
Megalopolis reviews be like:
genius
Lol, spot on. though I do remember Ebert giving the classic "The Big Chill" a very negative review mainly (i believe) because William Hurt's character had a drug dependency problem AND was treated sympathetically by the story and even "got the girl" (Meg Tilly) in the end. Ebert's point was basically "just say NO" to this film
I may not have always agreed with him, but remember people were more sensitive back then too. Gene Siskel gave Taxi Driver a less than favorable review due to the violence, which is kind of integral to the film.
@@Poetboyy Just look at how reaction to David Lynch's work has changed over the years. People used to complain his films were too dark and violent, but now they are appreciated cause emotionally they feel more true. Violent, ugly things feel violent and ugly in his movies. Taxi Driver does something similar. It's not a typical film where guns and violence and revenge are portrayed as ultimatley good, if messy and dangerous. There's no glamour or easing of the pain.
This movie sounds woke!!!
Thanks for this
Awesome specs 👍🏻
Fellas is it gay to want to be with a girl
Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
Temptations of a Monk. Il pelle, The Night Porter. Eve's Bayou. Enough Said.
Interesting selection. Includes some directors I'm not familiar with. Clara Law? Liliana Cavani? Kasi Lemons? Nicole Holofcener?
Not familiar enough with them
ครับ

Why do I get the feeling that this guy doesn't like black people?
It is pretty lame how there are plenty of comics hyping up their lame jokes as edgy. Millennials do suck tho.
Interesting idea, really poorly executed.
meh, not funny
The fact that when this video stopped the screen filled with a clickable link for david cross's new special really got me laughing.
This guy is really unfunny and you can tell he REALLY hates liberals being mocked for being comedy killers. 😂
THE GOAT 🙏
I don't get the joke at the end someone explain
"my ex wife still misses me" makes it seem like she wishes he was still with her but the addition of "but her aim is getting better" reveals that shes either trying to punch him or throw things at him. its an classic lame standup joke
You were on the nose with this one 😂
andrew schultz?
Ricky Gervais? I love Ricky, but that last special was shit. Just regurgitating the same crap
funny vid bro. dont give up
Evil men, no matter how despicable, are still capable of love even if the two contradict each other

You're never gonna keep me down
Chumbawamba is love, Chumbawamba is life
how clips of the trailer instead of such an intimate close up of your face. I don't wanna stare at you it's offputting
I figured I would spare the viewers and myself the pain of looking at that God awful madness for sanity's sake. But this might make you feel better. photos.app.goo.gl/wfRNoabjZ1gxMToK6

Agreed, Godard has his rightful place in cinema history. All hail Godard. But when all's said and done, his films can be right boring.
all these languages and bro decided to speak facts 🔥🔥🔥
Your take's a minor tonic in this current online landscape.
Refuses to participate with other people's critiques (Mauler I can grant you because those are absurdly long, but Critical Drinker's stuff is quick and to the point). Admits to not watching their content. Then presupposes the generalities of what their content must be. OK buddy. Sounds like you're just making assumptions off stuff you heard third hand and complaining about it without being willing to challenge your preconcieved notions . . . which is basically what you're accusing them of.
I've seen some Mauler, and I've seen enough of Critical Drinker. I know the two collaborate and share similar views. And again my point is not directed at these specific creators, but this attitude that they and many other current film-goers have.
what the hell how did all of that slip out my mind they really need to find thing dear god thank u for making this now i will march on to watch 20 other million videos explaining the movie i just watched
Someone needed to say it! Great video, man
A film teacher not knowing the big movies that coming out at the time is wild to me.
Lmao why ?? Film teachers discuss theory mainly and modern movies are so far removed from the core of film theory and cinema lol. They don’t teach marvel movies in film school for a reason.
@@kg7219 maybe not marvel movies, but what about something like Portrait of a Lady on Fire? That was huge in cinephile circles. Or how about a drama like Marriage Story that got a lot of awards buzz and acclaim?
Gubi fortnite?
Great film in every way. Heavy Germanic influence. Amazingly in the last Cahiers du Cinema poll (I think it was back in 2007) it was chosen as the 2ND BEST FILM EVER MADE, after only Citizen Kane. The scene of the children floating down the rivder with thr rabbits in the foreground is sublime.
"1:15 when you don't see why it's offensive, then you are the problem." - You might call yourself "left" and Vice a conservative platform, but for far-leftis you are a nazi. I think you are left, but you are still a free-thinker and are not trying to radicalize yourself that easy. 3:00 yes... the word "woke" is just as overused as "left", "far-right", or "nazi" 3:40 Woke - You are woke up and start seeing the structural problems everywhere. See it as a kind of "leftist redpill". And because of the lack of a meaning of life people start to question things that shouldn't be touched, according to conservatives. For an example the structure of the family. Seen by many people of the backbone of our society. But feminists see it from day 1 as a structure of the patriarchy, which has to be abolished. So "woke" is a word for progressive ideas and idealogies, centred around the demolishon structre, which is harmful to society, in the view of conservatives. And shows and movies can also be woke because they are made with the priority of making a movie which pleases the left, or is made to push a "woke"-Agenda, instead of prioritizing a good storyline. A good example of that is currently Lucas Films. The Star Wars movies and the new idiana Jones are bad, because people were hired because of their ideology and not because of their talent for writing. 6:05 I guess you don't understand the "conservatives", nothing they doing is because of hate and they are not hatefull at all. Yes they are insensitive, but only that because sensitivity is nowdays used as a weapon of silencing someone. 6:18 Not all "Conservatives" are racists. Just like not all "leftist" are anarchist. 6:42 Yes and this "inclusivity" of gay and transgender people is called also called "woke" and is seen as a kind of indoctrination. By the way: It seems like you think that companies like Disney are just using the inclusivity as a way of getting richer. But that clearly didn't work and they are still doing that. So we can assume, that the people in disney etc. are not just bad people who want to get richer, but are also people, who really want to change the world and have a "woke" ideology. If they would push that so hard, the "right" wouldn't be so angry and Disney etc. would make more money. 7:05 no strawman. And White-supremecy is also politics and nobody wants to see it. The "in you face"-politics, like changing someones skin-color, or a mary sue is that whats bothering people. 8:44 every political spectrum has its idiots, who are bullying people, who really doesn't deserve it. 9:05 The problem is not that movies are inclusive, the problem is that movies are selective when it cames to topics. Other ethnicities and sexualities are shown, but everything is centrered around that. Topics like religion are mainly ignored. And you are not a bad person when you are not "woke", just like you are not a bad person when you are "woke". You have just a different foundation of your morals. 10:04 Hollywood is not "fake"-progressive, it is deeply progressive. But they are still corrupt and want money. 10:28 I don't think, that someones really using the word "woke" in a debate. It's just a word to unify the masses. I think I can understand your perspective, but I don't think that you are really understanding the perspective of conservatives and the "why" of the leading conservatives, who have actually an idea of what they saying and who are not there to just make money out of it, unlike a big part of conservatives hypocrites. True conservatism is deeply religious and are not hyper-conservative, fake conservatism are just there for the money, or because of ignorance, or fear. Try to understand the religious people, when you really whant to understand the viewpoints of conservatism, because every moral system is based on the meaning of life. And for religious people the meaning of life is to get closer to god. In these days we have to understand each other
