The Best Energy Saving Projects for your Business
Could it be that we don’t really need encouragement to recycle glass? It’s a lot less harmful to the environment - whereas plastic is horrible stuff..
Hey Nick. Possibly, yes. It does seem an obvious omission to me tho. Re: Plastic - agreed, and if you're ever in need of depressing yourself, just google the huge floating rafts of waste plastic in the oceans. Very sad. D.
What’s this website and tool you’re using for this energy audit? Could you show alternatives and highlight differences - because if we are just looking at “Ai tools”, as sustainability professionals, we are not equipped with anything material.
About 20 odd years ago I saw a report that New York had cancelled a glass recycling scheme because it was costing the city something close to $100M dollars a year even though the nearest recycling facility was not too far from the city. It may not be economic to operate as a national scheme. May even be costly locally. Especially if local authorities are already undertaking glass collection. I also suspect that the much derided plastics on which we all rely every day are, even for milk, a far more cost effective proposition for milk producers, bottlers and retailers, than glass was. Just as glass bottles and milk processing advanced allied with city growth and farming consolidation, replaced the chap with a horse and cart who delivered locally twice a day driving cow-fresh milk direct from a churn. My wife resisted using supermarket milk for years but eventually the local deliveries were bought up by bigger and bigger operations l, the electric milk floats converted to diesel from a more distant depot and the price went up to double what we could pay at the corner shop or 2 supermarkets less than a mile away. Plus, after the final takeover by a German company, all account management went on line and deliveries were scheduled in the middle of the day. Not great in mid summer. We dipped out of milk in glass bottles at that point, happier to buy chilled milk with a known use by date from a source close to home at half the price. We can buy as needed rather than by pre-arranged amounts on pre-aranged days. I also have a feeling that a 3 or 4 stage process to collect used bottles, take the to a cleaning facility, then to a bottling facility and then back to customers, is probably not ecologically or economically sound. As I recall the life cycle of a bottle was claimed to be 19 round trips. Potentially a large number of "bottle miles" for the industry to absorb.

We have taken only our parts from Home Base for the candles, hence if the ink supplier is also taking something else from HB, then that also need to be calculated and add it. Am I right? Or perhaps we should divide by (1B-10)
Hi Mohamed. Yes, the carbon footprint should include all elements, and this frequently involves finding data for all elements of your BOM individually.

Net zero means extra taxes and fines
Hey James. I can understand why you would think this, it certainly appears that way doesn't it?!, but in the longer term we are looking at £billions of pounds being spent fixing climate issues (floods, heat waves etc) and some people think that spending money now means a lower cost (and hopefully lower taxes!) in the medium/long term. I see your point tho, it is certainly one I come across on a pretty regular basis. D.
TCFD is not legislation. This man is wrong.

This video contains the UN Climate Change disclaimer. Global warming was officially stated at 1.1°C in 1991 and 1.06°C in 2022. There is no mechanism that would allow greenhouse gas behavior to cause global warming. The back of the United Nation's IPCC science report states it took its greenhouse gas samples at 20,000 meters altitude where it is common high school level knowledge there is no greenhouse radiant energy. This is typical practice for deceptive marketing to state legal data transparency protecting the perpetrators from fraud prosecution. Earth's greenhouse effect is frequently used as a primary example to high school students of a system always in saturation from the strong greenhouse gas water vapor absorbing all the greenhouse radiant energy from the earth with greenhouse gases within 20 meters of the surface that is all around us everyday and can't have its overall effect changed. There is no further greenhouse radiant energy to interact with greenhouse gases. At 1% average tropospheric water vapor over 99% of earth’s greenhouse effect is from water vapor. Water vapor would hold earth's greenhouse effect in saturation if it were the only greenhouse gas in the atmosphere. Arctic warming is taking place with the proving mechanism being warm Atlantic Ocean waters migrating deeper and more frequently into the Arctic Ocean warming it and the region. That warmer water is causing a few weeks less of reflective snow and ice coverage resulting in more solar heat gain to the Arctic region surface. Atmospheric CO2 levels of 1200 ppm about three times what they are today would greatly invigorate C3 plants the majority of plant life on earth greatly greening the planet. 0.4% of the atmosphere is CO2 and on average 1% is H20 water vapor. (1% H20)/(0.4% CO2) = 25. Water vapor is 25 times more present in the atmosphere on average than CO2. Water vapor has an CO2e of 18, 18 X 25 = 450 CO2e total for water vapor to 1 CO2e for CO2. The Earth’s oceans have 3-1/2 million sea floor volcanic vents warming the water and changing it’s chemistry that have not been systematically accounted for.

I don't care. Stop trying to control what people do with their lives.
Stop the co2 scam its the life giving gass the planet needs atart to think
Can this equal a financial benefit?
Hey Jerome. Now that is an excellent question. Large chains (including the NHS chains) are starting to ask for the carbon content of the products they sell and the construction has a widespread adoption of EPDs . If you sell into large chains and/or the NHS and/or construction then you probably could claim that there is a financial penalty if you don't do them. I'm sure your marketing department would love to make claims about how green you are (demonstrably and with EPD evidence to back up your claims), but whether you classify that as a financial benefit or not is up to you. I suspect it probably is, but depending on what product or service you provide, your mileage may vary (to quote Seth Godin).
Will the UK actually reflect it Darryl? PS Hi :-) Long time no see!
Hey Nick. Indeed, it’s been a while. The EU is, sadly, way ahead of the UK in terms of carbon disclosures and mandatory carbon reduction actions. When you next hear our government sound off that the UK is leading the world, which is the current Tory rhetoric, just ignore it, the simple truth is that we are lagging far behind and the gap is getting worse every year. Will the UK adopt this? … I hope so, but I’ve not seen or heard anything on the grapevine to lead me to believe it is coming any time soon. D.
You will own nothing and be happy.
Is there a way to fast track? Our products greatly reduce the carbon footprint of all our customers. We would like to be certified and display it on the site.
Utter bollocks
Hey! Just came across your channel, and I wanted to express my gratitude for your video. Your explanation was clear and concise, making a complex topic much easier to understand. It's refreshing to see content that aligns with the themes of responsibility and accountability discussed on my Christian channel. Keep up the fantastic work-I've subscribed and look forward to more insightful content!
Carbon foot print. Made up nonsense
This is a fantastic tool, we're a micro business (less than 3 employees) and I didn't know where to start. Thank you!
Hey Stuart. I'm glad you found it useful, and so kind of you to leave this comment :). D.
Great video!
Well articulated! I like your step-by-step approach.
Don’t come to Canada as the Trudeau government want an unrealistic childish goal of zero emissions.
😂nasty things to the atmosphere, like feeding trees, plants and algae? 😂
Fair point, maybe it needed a comma in there somewhere. 🤔
These people are evil. CO2 is near record lows. Don't let them imprison you.
As a senior carbon consultant at Action Sustainability (The Supply Chain School), can I just say … your channel is awesome! Spreading the word on decarbonisation in a practical, meaningful way. We are few and far between. 👍👏👏👏
Hey Chris. Very kind of you to say this and I'll be sure to have a look st The Supply Chain School in a second. Best, D.
thank you so much it was very clear and nice, but how can we write the report?
Sorry for the slow reply - missed it 😯 The TCFD report itself needs 2 components - data, analyses, charts, and stats - all of which your software (such as Enistic, shameless plug) can spit out, and then some words around that describing things like governance, climate change strategie, risk mitigation strategies etc. You're probably also going to need an external consultant to help you unless you have dedicated and trained staff internally. Every single time I see someone take on TCFD in their organisation that isn't properly equipped, they fail, sometimes with disastrous consequences so if you don't have either (a) some software to crunch the scenarios for you; and (b) someone with the right training and time available to do, this I'd advise you to address those aspects first, before launching into the report creation itself. Hope that was useful, D.
You should do a video on carbon offsets vs carbon credits, aka verification, quality, etc and by extension the advantage of 'mitigating' green washing claims by using carbon credits.
@callumery - That is an excellent idea. The work they are doing in government enforced carbon credits in places like Canada is fascinating and I'd love to do a video or 2 on the topic. Thanks for the suggestion, and if you think of anything else do let me know! :)
P R O M O S M 🤷
There is a thing called offset that we can pay to reduce carbon footprint without actually reducing the carbon emission of a company... Probably in the long term this is not ideal because the company itself is not improving in carbon emission. But as a short term and very last minute way of reducing carbon, this is really a tool to make it happen. And it is convenient to do so. Just buy it online (like a normal online shopping). Interesting~~
Cool~ You know there are a lot of jargons and terminologies that I find it confusing when it comes to carbon reporting. It is nice to clarify those terms for average people and layman
bravo. top content,
Thank Eprohoda, very kind of you to say :)
Thank you Darryl for the clarity you bring to this subject
Big companies can afford this... Globalization is key. Centralized control will be needed... Your rights will take a back seat to freedom.... For the good of the masses
Incredibly useful, thank you.
Hey Amy-Elizabeth. Glad you found it useful. TCFD is a huge topic but if you break it down into the sub-sections, it's still a lot of work, but very manageable. Let me know if you have any questions or get stuck anywhere and I'll do my best to help, Darryl.
