    Obviously the Browns shouldn't draft a QB if they don't like any of them, but I believe that the Browns really need to like one of the QBs in this draft and select him. I want the Browns to bring in a veteran bridge QB, someone like Jameis Winston or Joe Flacco, but I also want them to draft a QB in this draft. With the way young QBs are transforming teams, when you look at CJ Stroud and Jayden Daniels, the Browns desperately need that kind of energy with this team. This fan base needs to feel that kind of hope. And you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket. So that's why I want them to draft a QB in the first round.

    In 2021 they were 7-6. They lost their next two games by 2 points each. It wasn't a shit show that it is now. They were competitive. The Green Bay game was tough, but Baker didn't practice the whole week before the game. You're not winning with Donovan Peoples Jones as WR1 and Anthony Schwartz as WR3. People expected a Christmas miracle.

    doesnt matter if its deshaun, baker, jameis, or whever. At the end of the day, Stefanski is a terrible coach. Every player he works iwth is worse afterwards. the only one who turned out OK was flacco and only because stefanski COULDNT work on him cause he was just a gap stop. Stefanski getting COTY is the biggest fraud in sports. He's a bum, and the browns will be terrible as long as he's here. Personally, I'm loving watching the browns crash and burn. Screw this team. I'm gonna follow baker and the bucs. Browns are and will forever be the browns.

    I disagree with the premise that Kevin has all the power and he'll have his pick of jobs if he benches Watson over the GM's and owner's wishes. There are only 32 opinions that matter in the league and no owner is going to hire a coach who is seen as disloyal. Kevin's most marketable feature is he's a consensus builder -- it's one of the reasons he is the perfect coach for Haslam because Kevin is willing to take the PR hits while keeping his owner involved in all decision making. That would be a valuable trait to a potential future employer but only if Kevin doesn't burn bridges on his way out the door.

    • @someperson8151

      Haslam was disloyal to other owners by guaranteeing Watson his contract. Don't think other owners have Haslam's back . Most likely, other owners are jealous of his money. He's the new Daniel Snyder. The owner everybody hates.

    I have to disagree with Brad and agree with Casey. Look at it from a different view. If Watson is a failure, then Browns are in QB limbo. That alone will hurt getting money from investors. You can't take for a rookie because that bad of a season will hurt Haslam getting investors money. Haslam is hanging on to a thread, praying something turns around. Haslam getting money is hanging on Watson. It's not hard to see. Wants the failure is admitted it's guaranteed to lose Haslam money. If other way around Haslam would have stepped in to force a Watson once all the season ticket holders called in to try and cancel their membershiip.

    Guys I hope you get this… I agree w Brad and Pete, concerning the question as to why is Stephanski on board w throwing Watson back out there? Remember Stephanski is STILL that nice to a fault guy. That’s why we lack discipline. (and) Even tho it’s so obvious Watson needs to be benched “yesterday “ … Steph and AB know… when they bench Watson , it’s OVER! It’s a wrap no more career! No one’s picking him up ever. So I really truly feel…Steph feels that he owes Watson at least 1-2 games to play with Nick!

    The idea about Jimmy's bank account with the new stadium makes less sense than Kevin Stefanski being a competent coach & being around football his whole life & somehow continuing to march this product out on the field. While he may not be being forced to play Watson, it seems like he knows he can't just bench him because of the implications that will have on his livelihood. To think it's just gonna be that easy to go & get another head coaching job in the NFL is laughable. This is some of the consistently worst QB play we've ever seen. Any other QB would be benched by now. But this isn't any other QB; it's Deshaun Watson getting paid a huge contract we aren't even halfway through yet. Stefanski knows that. I don't think it's just his call. & I think he's smart enough to understand why it's not his call. & I also think he likes being head coach of the Cleveland Browns

  • @runningbeard7380
    @runningbeard7380 3 дня назад

    It starts and ends with Jimmy Truck Stop... and his willingness to ignore serious character concerns of both Johnny Football and Deshaun Watson... which there was ample evidence (and I don't mean college shenanigans). He threw money at a player with 27 allegations of sexual misconduct that (at the time) were unresolved, in a very public courtship while their number 1 pick was recovering from surgery (class act that Jimmy). Now, if you owned an NFL franchise, wouldn't you question the character of that man... and his ability to take ownership, and do the work necessary to LEAD a team? Maybe Haslam isn't that bright, and is just a business man who we don't want in office (whoops!) I mean to own the Browns. In spite the planting of the flag at OSU and drunk fleeing from cops way back when...there's no comparison between Baker and Deshaun. Baker is a class act, a leader and a fiery competitor always looking to improve and who has deep respect for his teammates and coach Bowles... he always points the finger at himself when the team loses. But just in case "words" won't convince you, here's a side by side stat comparison of the two over the past 17 games: Watson 310-517 3069 19-12 (rushing: 87-448 3TDs) Mayfield 364-550 4294 35-10 (rushing: 53-183 3 TDs) Watson makes Weeden look pretty solid by comparison! Oh, and BTW? Tampa has had a terrible run game, injuries on the OL but also several on D (including All Pro Winfield). Baker has had a new OC every year of his career and has played through pain and injuries (torn labrum). So don't point to any other than Watson. Watson is the sole reason for his failure, his lack of leadership and decline in skills. This is what you get when you throw money at a man with serious character issues.

    The reason the Baker situation was untenable was because the Cleveland leadership, media, and a lot of the fans hated him for playing poorly while hurt and ran him out of town. They decided to crucify the player that wanted to gut it out for the city and team rather than the idiotic leadership that let him run himself into the ground. And you celebrated when they threw him out the door. But now here you are, in a situation a MILLION times worse with no light at the end of the tunnel. He recently said that in retrospect he should have shut it down for the season rather than play through injury. I appreciate the competitiveness and focus on winning, but it ultimately hurt him. You could say he was naive in thinking the Browns would support him in the same way he was devoted to the organization... well that was, well, naive on his part. He went through the gauntlet being dumped in Carolina (which I have no doubt the Browns wanted to make him suffer a bit) to an equally messed up organization. Remember, he's already received 130+ million from Haslam, so he might do it. If not? The Browns shelve him on the Practice Squad and wait til a QB injury occurs before trade deadline in the 2025 season. @@Adam-gx3je True, but why is it that players leave Cleveland to become their best selves? Worth pondering. There doesn't seem to be a cohesive philosophy about how to run the team, what kind of players to draft and sign, and a commitment to building around what a QB does best. They did a great job hiring John Dorsey but not all his signings were smart (Odell Beckham was a locker room divider and a self-promoter). Kevin Stefanski helped to stabilize the Offense and the run game flourished, but his obsession with multiple TE sets don't align with the modern game. Baker at his best as a Brown came in the second half of 2020 (without Beckham)... where he spread the ball around, and hit the open receiver... the 2024 Browns receiving corp is impressive compared to the 2020 receivers. But Stefanski's offense compared to Tampa's Liam Coen, looks slow, plodding... predictable... safe. But because the running game was so impressive, it got a pass (pun intended). But you can see that a now mature Mayfield processes and releases much quicker, spreads the ball, takes a positive play on a checkdown, and will leg it out to get first downs. That could have been as a Brown, but it would have required Stefanski changing his offense quite a bit.
