O'Cell Tech Lithium Range Test in Club Car Precedent
Finally had a chance to test the range on the new O'Cell Tech Lithium 48v 105Ah battery we installed.

Installing an O'Cell Tech 48v 105ah Lithium Battery into a 2008 Club Car Precedent These are made by www.ocelltech.com/supplier-3689995-lifepo4-golf-cart-battery
I just talked to ocell tech and they told me you have to order 20 units, but their sales team will get ahold of me soon. So we will see. If you dont mind what was your price?
We were selling them for about $2100 If I remember correctly.
The largest ring terminal is supposed to go first against the battery terminal.
Did you move the components that were in the middle?
This cart has the controller and everything behind the plate at the back of the battery compartment, some have it in the middle and you can usually slide that over enough to fit a larger lithium battery, but it will require some hacking up of the shroud.
Maybe my eyes are deceiving me but it looks like you put the charger wires between the main battery cables and the battery terminals. Shouldn't the main battery connections be closest to the battery terminal? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm just a dumb old auto mechanic maybe I'm wrong.
On the positive I can tell I have the main cable directly on the battery, can’t really tell on the negative. It’s been in and out a few times at this point but yes mains directly on the terminals is the best way to go.
Any updates on these batteries? Everything i been reading on lithium batteries says fully charging to 100% every time is bad only go to 80% and never get to 0%. does the charger stop at 80% or 100%. Amd if you dont mind me asking how much was the whole setup. Thank you for the video
With these batteries you can charge to 100%, but I don't plug in daily. I usually run the battery for a week or two until it gets down to anywhere from 10-40% and charge it depending on when I plan to use the cart again. The charger will cut off at 100% and it only takes about 4.5 hours to charge from 10% to 100%. You can contact O'Cell Tech directly, we have a link to their site below the video, and they can quote you on the battery shipped to you. The initial bulk batch we had was selling for $2100 for the 48v 105ah including the screen and charger.
@CartLifeFL I contacted them and got back to me today and for a 48v 30ah it will be $480 for 1 which is a good price, but i wont 2 for longer range. Just have to email them back and see what it comes with or how much more i need to spend for charger and screen
That’s the tiny battery, you probably want to go with a 56Ah at a minimum that should give you up to 30 miles of range on stock controller and motor.
@CartLifeFL thats kinda what i want. I figured with 2 of those i should still get pretty good range and have room in battery compartment to add a marine sub and amp

How is this holding up?
Great actually we drive the cart daily to pick the kids up from school and various places around the neighborhood. We have about 18 cycles so far and charge it once every two weeks roughly. It's been powering our Precedent for about 9 months.
Finally! I've searched for a video where someone used a lithium battery on a STOCK golf cart without controller and motor modifications. Thanks for posting. That was a lot of work.
It's a decent amount of work, the hardest part is the back breaking weight of the old lead acid batteries and disposing of them correctly.
How did you fasten battery LCD to dash board.
I measured out the space needed then cut it out the rectangle with a sharp blade, the screen has some tabs that will clip into the cut out and stay put, there was a rubber gasket that I took off the screen because it was bulky and wouldn't let the clips reach the back of the dashboard. Hope that helps.
Man, it's good to see lithium prices falling almost monthly. Lots of overseas brands are going to bring the prices down further, but beware of warranty issues with non US distributers. I've heard some stories. 48 volt packs with 100ah should be around 1350.00 soon. Indicators are looking at Fall 2023 but we'll see.
I just bought a lithium 36 volt battery and charger for $1059 form chins battery for my ezgo txt it was about the same price a lead acid batteris and it weighs only 60 lbs compaired to 360 lbs lead battries and it has a 10 yoar warrnty and bluetooth Battery managment system.
Great video only thing is missing showing and talking about OBC by pass which is very important in this lithium battery upgrade.
Do you know what are dimensions of aluminum channel. I understand that is 2"x2" but, what is a wall thickness (1/4 " 1/8") H2" X W2" X T? Thanks again

Have you done any real world testing on this? How many miles are you getting?
I'll be uploading a range test video in the next week or so. The weather has been rainy and we had a hurricane so it's been delaying me a few times. So far in the intermittent drives it's looking like 3 hours of run time so close to 60 miles is what I expect.

Hello. I ordered a 48V, 60Ah O’Cell battery this summer directly from Amazon to replace old lead acid batteries in my older Western. Price at the time with a $200 discount was $1380 to my door. Have been very happy with the performance so far.
