    Given that non-EEA students simply could/were obliged to pay some few hundred quid a year to get access to the NHS legally, and thus did not need CSI, the whole construct of EEA students needing private CSI looks extremely unfair. Plus of course that EEA students were simply told to use the NHS when they started Uni. And what about those with underlying health issues who would struggle to get private CSI in the first place. In all EEA countries I know, they have an obligatory cheap student insurance, with legal safeguards that disabled students or students with health issues are not discriminated against and don't need to pay more. Like students from India or China pay their NHS access fee, regardless of their medical needs, and that's it. Why didn't they offer this to EEA students as well. When the UK was an EU member, they did not care to inform anyone, neither students nor universities, and when the UK left, the government found this a legal loophole to use in their hostile environment as a tool for immigration control. As citizenship can be taken away from those with any links to some other country, and thus those freshly minted UK citizens will have an insecure second class status forever, anyone should think twice if that's what they really want.

    • @TruthLegal
      @TruthLegal 2 года назад

      We very much agree with you. The CSI requirement was never publicised or much talked-about, which has created a situation where EU nationals are (we believe) unfairly penalised for failing to meet a requirement which the vast majority never knew existed. We talk more about the background to the CSI issue in our blog article, available here: www.truthlegal.com/naturalisation-and-the-csi-problem/. We’ve also come up with some legal ‘workarounds’ which we’ve used to help our clients work through their CSI issues. Just one thing: when you say that “citizenship can be taken away from those with any links to some other country”, that’s not quite right. You can normally only lose British citizenship if you obtained it through deception, or if you commit a pretty serious crime, and losing your British citizenship would not make you stateless. From Michelle @ Truth Legal

    • @IslandForestPlains
      @IslandForestPlains 2 года назад

      @@TruthLegal The citizenship thingy means that the same crime is punished differently: those who can track their Britishness on these isles for generations will face different consequences than those who have, or whose parents have, links to some other country. How can that be right. Plus given that citizenship can be taken away by the government, not by a court with the accused able to defend themselves, what if the government got it wrong. And as regards statelessness, I haven't heard of Bangladesh offering citizenship to Shamima Begum. (Course what she did was terrible but this is not the point is it. The point is that a "true" UK citizen could have returned and faced the law at home. So you get two sorts of citizenship, with two sorts of citizens.) From not allowing married couples to live together, if the British spouse does not earn enough, even when they have common children (how does that go with basic human rights - if the other spouse's country has similar laws, how can a family live together?), to retrospective application of new rules (see the Nottingham Miwa Hirono case) so you can fall foul of rules that did not exist at the time, to the multitude of wrong allegations of having cheated at English language tests, to this CSI matter, to infinitely probationary citizenship : what used to be "our home" has ever more turned into "their" home. It's what "hostile environment" is meant to do, isn't it. And given that the people who created this system have been voted into office again and again and again, we must assume that this is what the natives consent to, by and large. The question becomes do we want our kids to truly have a home and home country, or do we risk them growing up only to find themselves strangers in what they consider home.

    • @TruthLegal
      @TruthLegal 3 года назад

      You’ll wait around eight weeks for a decision on the sponsor licence application. Then it’s another week for a decision on a defined Certificate of Sponsorship, if your Senior Care Worker is outside the UK. Finally, the individual worker will need to apply for their Skilled Worker visa, which will take around three weeks to be decided unless they pay extra for priority service. Altogether, that’s a total of around 12 weeks. Michelle @ Truth Legal

      Hi Julie - thanks for your comment on our video. If you want to come to the UK as a Senior Care Worker, you’ll first need an employer to sponsor you. You can find a register of sponsored employers here - you are probably looking for an employer with a Skilled Worker licence: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/971458/2021-03-22_Tier_2_5_Register_of_Sponsors.pdf Or you can use a website like this: uktiersponsors.co.uk/ Once you’ve found an employer, you can apply for a Health & Care Worker Visa here: www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa All the best, Michelle @ Truth Legal

    Being a property owner in the Uk and granted with Settle status , is CSi still a mandatory requirement for a naturalization application ?

    • @TruthLegal
      @TruthLegal 3 года назад

      Thank you for your comment. Under the EEA Regulations, students and the self-sufficient are required to hold CSI, workers and the self-employed are not. Income from property ownership is tricky because it tends to suggest that you are self-sufficient, and you should therefore have CSI. It might be possible to argue that you are self-employed, but this is very dependent on your specific circumstances, and so we’d recommend you take legal advice. Michelle @ Truth Legal.

    A couple of years ago, I received one of these scam calls, asking me about my accident. I came up with a peach of a reply. I said that I was using a chainsaw and that the saw freakishly kicked back and cut my head off. Luckily 2 friends were with me and 1 found my head and put it in a large bucket of ice, while the other one took my hand and helped me to his vehicle. We were able to go to a hospital, and thanks to modern technology and surgery, the hospital was able to sew the various veins, arteries and capillaries and bones, so that my head was sewn back together again. Unfortunately, I was so engrossed with my bullshit story that I hadn't realised that the parasitic pukes had disconnected my call

    Hi, I’ve got a question I am an EU citizen & I’ve been living in the uk since 2012. Around 2016 they stopped all my benefits and I’ve just been working since. Now just a few days ago I’ve applied for eu settlement scheme, I’m just wondering what will happen after then? Would I be able to claim benefit again? Because I’ve lost recently lost my job

      Hi Mervin Thanks for your comment and question. I'm afraid we can't advise on benefits entitlements. You might want to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau. They have an article here too: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/claiming-benefits-if-youre-from-the-EU/before-you-apply/check-if-you-can-get-benefits-if-youre-from-the-eu/

    Hi there, excellent content. I have been in the UK for 16 years, the last 9 years working and under SS but the previous 7 I was studying and without CSI. Do you think I should wait 1 more year to apply for naturalisation so I have the 10 years covered with insurance or would it be possible for me to say that I arrived in the country within the last 9 years so I will be covered?
