High compression for certain.
Aren’t those guide plates upside down?
Nope if they were the other way the rockers arm would hit the guide plate
Built a 400, the heads were no good, could not find any 400 heads so we put 350 heads on it and upped the compression
Get flat top pistons with stock 1.560" compression height... most rebuilder pistons sit lower unless you specify stock height... the lower pistons drop the already too low pathetic 7.6:1 actual compression ratio... (factory claimed at 8 - 8.5:1)
These 1970's emissions slug 165 netHP engines were only about 7.6:1 despite the claims of 8 - 8.5:1... even lower if 'rebuilder' pistons were put in... '86 - '91 Corvette 350" aluminum heads with 58cc chambers and a Chevy ZZ3 roller cam will bring you up to about 345 HP, 390 torque...
Hey Wayne, something is missing from this picture. lol. where's Waldo ?
Sorry that I haven't messaged in a while Wayne. I've just been real busy. I like what ya got going there. Maybe I'll be able to get back on my 350 4 bolt. I do want to find some good flat tops ( .030 over as well ) Any suggestions ?
Hey Phil yes life gets busy I do watch your stuff too nice to hear from you 😀
993 is NOT the same as 882. Both of the old school 993 and Mexico 993 heads out flow the 882. The 882 has both inner exhaust valves feed the intake heat crossover and the 993 heads use one exhaust port to feed the cross over. I know. I have both.
where you been? life get buisy ain't that the truth
I wonder why it has head studs? Those were small valve heads, no need for studs. Waste of money and such a pain to RnR!
That is the most wrong thing I ever heard someone say. Nothing could be farther from the truth and im glad to catch this so I can correct you. The tbi heads are the worst flowing 350 heads GM has EVER produced. The vortec head is the best flowing head GM ever produced for mass production. I know the bowtie heads are the best but they weren't mass produced for oe applications. The vortec reigns king. 193 or any other tbi heads are at the bottom. Hell even the run of the mill venerable 882 head beats the tbi heads. Please do not say 193 out performs vortec heads ever again I beg you
fill each hole with dish soap and it out with a pressure washer
"Were gonna loose the shop"
You can miss match bore size. Its not a big deal.
If you need a V8 that tows great and does not go above 3500 rpm, 601 heads off a 305 placed onto a 350 is your ticket
Get a bigger hammer lol good way to start a video beating on it with a hammer lol remind me to not do this it made me chuckle tho under a tree w a hammer you might be what ?? Lol sorry im just messing w you bro
Looks like someone sprayed it and broke the ring land on the top ring which is common w spray of nos
12 :1 is awful high and would definitely require more than 92 octane fuel which idk for a daily is too much compression and then not to go all in on it with good flowing heads and a cam to make it all work well idk it just doesn't sound right spend the money on 30 over dome pistons to bump compression to a point you cant run regular fuel w out retarded timing is just nonsense
What heads were on it ?
Hey Glen some 882 factory cast heads
I don't think this guy really knows much about small block chevys
Definitely doesn't
I think he's baked like the manifold coating.
That block was cast at Tonawanda plant - Buffalo
Like this one too!😍
Killing it bro 💪
Thanx
Who opens up the area under valve and does porting like this in the u.s.?
Hey Mike most machine shops will do a little port job if you want more material removed to open up the area the cost is amazing for hours of work I'm not sure in your area where to go racing track and repair shops maybe can help you
I'm in cleveland ohio
How do you arrive at 413 cubes?
I never knew that.
350 subscribers! LOL!
Why would you put 305 heads on a 350?
Hey doc well I'm thinking they used what they had it does raise your cylinder compression with the smaller value chamber they just don't flow enough air
Those heads on a 74 305 got me 21 mpg around town and 28 highway in a66 tempest running a Saginaw 2 cut. The orange 305s were jam up the best until you get to the roller ones in the zs or t/as.
Yeah, that can be a challenge. But, with patience and the right approach, it can be done. I had a 76 Vette L48 25 years ago. It wasn't a popular model because it wasn't an LT 1 or a big block. But, it had a 270 duration high energy cam, Offy intake with a well tuned Holley 600. Wasn't a slouch with that combo. I really miss that car. Economic troubles of the early 2000s forced me to part with it. Maybe I'll get another. They are still affordable. BTW. I saved the Offy 360 intake. I'm glad I did. They're bringing good money on Ebay. 😅 Good luck with those stubborn exhaust bolts!
Where do you keep finding these things ? Lol. I find one about every 10 years or so. You are finding one every week. What all do ya know about the engine ? Heads, mains , year , exc.
Hey Phil market place on Facebook has so many engines for sale I enjoy my hobby of researching about cars shop manuals are your best information I see alot of motors down your way cheap
@@waynedavidson2691 Silly me, I've been looking in barns. But that's because most of the ones that I find advertised for sale , guys are wanting too much for them. Or, I'm just that damn cheap.
I must have missed some videos on this car.
Fun car to drive its been around
Cool 😎 pair of Chevys! I particularly like the 40! Gramps vs Grandson 😅. Is it the camera angle or does this racetrack defy gravity? 😅
Hey Matt there is a bridge over the burn out box The 40 Chevy is me and my brother in-law drivers the Camaro

@@waynedavidson2691 That explains it. I'm in Florida.
Nice .
I call that " Dingle Ball " honing.
Yep, I've only see this once in my whole life , and I was just a kid about 10 or 11. I lived in the mid west out in the corn fields, and a balloon landed about 1000 ft away from my house. It was late October and the corn had already been picked and the stalks ground up.
I'm seeing your videos out of order but it's still all good. Tha last one that I saw was the old Chevy going down the track ...
I think this is the first time I've seen the old Chevy run. Goes pretty good for a street car. Certainly better than how it ran from the factory.
That's an annoying sound. And I don't mean Wayne.
