DIY Transmission Mount On Chevy Truck
That toe
thanks broski
Great video, couple of things soak the heat shield bolts with penetrating oil, use a block of wood to lift up the motor. I’m surprised you didn’t beak anything jacking up on the exhaust
One of the few videos you can actually see what your are doing, Great Job!!!
Dude how did you remove the motor mount bolts with just an impact one one side? Im doing the same exact job right now and im having a bitch of a time because what i saw and read shows that there are 3 nuts on the inside of the control arm that those motor mount bolts go through. So im having to use a bunch of little extensions plus a swivel and thread it on a ratchet through a hole control arm so i can hold that nut still. Then i have to somehow HOLD ONTO that ratchet while simultaneously trying to break the motor mount bolt loose with one hand and then remove it ... And im doing all this on my back under the damn truck.. SMH
Depending on the condition of your vehicle some are harder to get out than others, I just know the passenger side motor mount is way easier than the driver side...for the only reason that there is more space!
What year was your truck, and was it a 4x4?
2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD 4X4 6.0 Vortec Engine!
Use seatbelt to wrap thru steering wheel before removing steering shaft to prevent breaking steering wheel clock spring.
Time to replace those broken manifold bolts homie
I have a 4.3L2001 S10 LS. Is the top part of the mount pieces bolted to the engine somehow? I have the bolts for when they are assembled and the bottom piece of the mount never came off the frame. The engine is OUT and close to being reseated, I just need to know what to do with the mounts in order to drop the engine and put the long bolts in. I would appreciate some advice!
Before putting the engine back in I would install the mounts to the engine block, then install the bolts that hold on to the frame!
@@chevyguy6.032 Thank You!! You are the first person on youtube to answer this question. I must have written 7 -10 questions of this type over 3 months and nobody would reply back. There is a piece on the engine block with 2 top bolts and one bottom bolt, with a hole in the center. It looks like a 4-legged spider is all i can think of. The top mount that has the oval rubber pad on it, Does it fit inside that spider??????? I see No Holes in the top mount to bolt it to that spider, just the one that connects it to the bottom mount piece on the frame. How does that top mount piece stay in place without being bolted and am I making this way more difficult than it should be. Thank you so much, this is getting to be annoying!!
I don't really understand your question or exactly what vehicle you are working on, but installing engine mounts should only go two ways! Either you mount it on the engine block first then bolt it down to the frame when engine is installed or install it on the frame and bolt it to the engine block when engine is installed@@bvnseven
Thank you
Man you should just taken the manifolds off and replaced the gaskets since you were already in there lol
Great video man I've been chasing a clunk in my truck that happens as I'm turning occasionally and as I take off and sometimes over bumps and I'm wondering what made you realize you needed new mounts like what noises if any? I've also got a 1500hd
I just did a visual inspection on my truck, just looking for worn out components and walla I found this!
Size bolts?
15mm
You made it look easy bro. Good information.
Great video Bro!!
Thanks man. Good video.
Anyone know the size of heat shield bolts? I'm probably gonna break mine.
His socket said 10mm
Like the video
It's best to pull the dip stick. Pull the starter. Loosen your transmission line holding bracket connected to engine. Pull mount through where u took off starter. Might need to jack engine a little more. U dont need to remove heat shield. If you are only doing the passenger side. Do not jack up on your exhaust pipe could cause a hole or leak.
I have to say thank you for posting your video and showing everybody especially me how to do Motor mounts I didn’t know where else I was gonna jack up my motor except on the exhaust pipes and it actually did work thank you
Appreciate this video homie! Pro demand wasn’t showing how to to remove. Just showed to remove the bolts and replace them. This saved me hours of work 🤟🏾
P.O.S
Cool video!
You must be a mechanic, you make look easy.
Nice video bro im gonna do the same on my truck but mine is 4x4 let's see what I run into
Keep it up, the start is always the hard part!
