Tom Ice thanks for the heads up. This was not in a national park and there were no signs saying that flying drones was illegal. I’ve been to many places and have seen the signs and do not fly. I don’t stay long in the air as I know people don’t like the noise, but if there is no airport nearby and the geofencing allows you to take off and there are no signs then I consider it okay. @@daneroche6064 You were in the Flattops Wilderness area and machine operation including UAS is prohibited by the Wilderness Act of 1964, USDA Forestry Regulations and as restricted airspace for drones FAA Subpart 107. Yes, national parks are included and so are wildernesses. We don't like putting signs up in the wilderness for everything. There is a sign at the trail head about the prohibition of machine use in the wilderness and it's looking like we should include drone use for folks like you. As a responsible drone user, know before you go. Now you do. As it is you are broadcasting yourself as an unethical, even law breaking user of the wilderness, kinda like a digital toilet papering of the Causeway trail. To repair your error and up your standing as an outdoors user all you need to do is take this down and maybe even do away with it. It would be the right thing.

Howard Kellogg thank you. This video is 4 years old and I have since learned about the wilderness areas. I understand that it falls under a machine from a law in 1964 when drones were not used, but also get it from a 107 perspective. I would recommend putting a sign at trailheads as most people are used to seeing NO Drone signs or unmanned aircraft signs. As during that hike I saw 3 other people carrying drones up there. I am not sure deleting it would change the fact that it was already up and half of the video is taken from the ground anyway.
