Wednesday Night Delight, Whistler Bike Park
Way too busy. I'd like to see a long wide green run that blue and black skiers/boarders weren't allowed on.
You might have to go to Europe for the long wide green run. Many green runs are "slow zones", is that what you'd like to see more of?
Never understand north american pist labels.
It’s really just Green, Blue, Black, Double Black rather than Green, Blue, Red, Black.
The Saddle run I wouldn’t do myself if visiting there if weather was good I would do Matthews traverse to the Burnt Stew or possibly Harmony ridge if you can get there too from the peck chair that Saddle run looks quit tricky the Burnt Trail or Harmony Ridge I think I would Enjoy
Burnt stew and harmony ridge are great. You can get to harmony ridge from Peak if you are happy doing a 1 minute walk.
Just did this today. HNY!
Great! How is it? I’ve not been in this year.
@@RawPOV it was great. Had about 6" of fresh on 12/31 at the peak. Sweating by the bottom!
Root infested!
Yeah it’s a tough one in the wet. Great trail though!
One of the top 5 green runs in the world. Long, wide, high, snow-sure and great view.
Might go there for January 2025.
This is like one of those bike games where you have like no speed but you still easily clear the jump.
For sure! It doesn’t require that much speed but remember that the GoPro makes everything look slower as it’s wide angle!
@@RawPOV ok thanks
@@RawPOVsorry i hate to be that guy but it actually looks slower because of how the videos cropped in. with gopros, the wider you have the field of view the faster it looks like you’re going.
@@TheDHJunkie that is good to know! I had always thought it was the angle.
Sick! That was very dusty
Thankfully most of the rock in Squamish is incredibly grippy.
Nice! Everyone was stopped at the features I stop at haha. Great to see your line choice.
A few tricky lines on that. Some of them may be smoother to drop but the landings aren’t that pleasant.
Smoooooth
Wow! Long lap! Nice!! Looks like there’s some big holes in a few corners.
Lots of holes, even A-Line is full of holes, we need rain!
Some of those features look terrifying! Others you make look fun though!
@harrietparnis498 I think you’d like it. Blue size jumps and the gap is all in your head!
Please can you do some of the new Creekside trails
Sure! Is there a particular trail you want to see?
@@RawPOV can you do the phat Wednesday route please: springnar & call me maybe. And also the new jump trails (shake & bake & insomnia I think?)
Is this one open this year?
Wow! A nice jump trail in Squamish. I’ll add it to my list!
I can tow you through it!
This run is always icy with a million death cookies..
Damn, you didn’t even dip into the bowl, what’s even the point?!
Can't tell very well from video, did you go all the way to the end for more fall line? Or did you have to? Wondering if you're able to just drop in around 1:45
It’s particularly narrow and scraped at 1:45. Like you mentioned, getting across to the skiers right gives a longer and more consistent pitch. There is a higher entrance too but I’ve not done that this year.
ITS MY CHUTE ITS MY CHUTE !!!!!!!!
Rocky entrance this year but it’s starting to fill in nicely!
The saddle is my favourite run. It has always been like this, but in the past it marked as blue run.
Such a good run, especially when it’s freshly groomed!
Nice job !
Thanks! Any other runs you want to see?
Man the start West cirque is so much worse this year haha
Agreed. I was JUST there last week and I couldn't find a proper line that didn't involve almost snagging my skis on some exposed rocks.
I just put up a video of west cirque from last week. The top is definitely quite rocky still!
This is some cool content! Would you consider having it broadcast on Shaw Spotlight cable channel? If you are interested let me know and we can connect. Thanks!
Hi Michael, sure. Let me know the details!
@@RawPOV Shaw Spotlight is local cable access and we would use your existing and new content, to build a show for the channel. No cost at all to you and you maintain ALL the copyrights to any content.
@Michael Kast - sure, just be sure to credit the channel
Dream conditions right there!
For sure! I don’t often get conditions that good in the cirque so it was quite dreamy!
Is this better suited for skiers? All the snowboarders I saw were sitting down; must’ve been tiring for them having to traverse the trail 🤣
It’s a great trail for snowboarders too. Beginners may have some issues holding speed for the flats though. Fantastic views and well worth the skate too
I love West Cirque, going to miss skiing it this year. What Black Crows are those?
I’m looking forward to it, although it will be a very long lap with the chair situation. They are the Corvus.
Absolutely awesome
im planning on going jan 5th-12th, will all the trails be open?
Most likely. Normally the alpine is open by around the mid to end of December but it really depends on the snowfall. Fingers crossed for this year!
@@RawPOV Is it generally quiet in January?
@@Puzzoozoo , January is a good time to visit. There is normally a good base by then and the runs are much less busy than over Christmas
@@PuzzoozooI’m going to Jan 21-26, be careful going around mlk day 3 day weekends are popular out there. I’m just hoping the lines are short and Christmas decorations are still up
What people who don’t ski this stuff don’t realize is how much your fitness really matters.
true. especially your legs, besides stamina. you're legs would probably give out before you run out of breath lol. The gym definitely builds endurance in your quads, hamstrings, and calves.
Where is this I can’t find it on the map?
This is next to the top of harmony chair. Take a small walk up to the right. You can see it on other maps like FATMAP.
You guys are solid skiers. Entrances like those make me worried about trashing my skis on all the rocks sticking out more than the shear difficulty.
I often get the nerves about a rock snagging my skis in terrain like that. It’s definitely more of a consideration if you are skiing in exposed terrain.
@@RawPOV In April we were skiing straight down from Seventh Heaven in thru the glades. Starting on the right side of the buildings. Lots of snow -open and easy to see the terrain. But even so my skis hit rocks a few times. Luckily nothing a base grind wont fix.
Yup, that's a ski run for sure
How much harder is it than west cirque or false face
A little steeper than west cirque I think, the entrance is also a slightly more committing move.
@@RawPOV OK ill do it next szn
It’s horrendous getting into it this year. No access, it’s just a 10-15 ft drop in over the cornice.
Nice I skied it today no straight-line needed but lots of debris at the run out
Nice, yeah lots of debris in there this year
Looks flat
Go pro effect
I have been down that run many times and I can see you have good skills to make it down with speed but every turn looks like linked recoveries with all the sliding and breaking up. Have you ever tried skiing that run in control with nice clean round turns at a slightly slower speed? (No malice intended)
do you use a chest or helmet mount?
This one is with the chest mount. I like both the chest and helmet mounts.
@@RawPOV I tried with the chest mount and it was looking at my legs and skis only. do you have it pointing straight from your chest or angled up?
Nice!
the sadle is a black diamond
Nice! are those the Black Crows Anima?
Yes, great skis, mine are kind of beat up now, hoping to try the new ones soon.
I can see the leg burn just watching this! Love Goats Gully!
It’s a tough one with no stopping.
Just did this today!
Awesome, I hope you got some good turns and great views!
Yes...perfect...awesome views to boot!
Can’t go wrong with great views when skiing!
@@RawPOV No doubt, thanks for replying btw and just because you replied I get to take another trip down with ya! Oh man love it! I skied this run a few times a bit ago and needed to be refreshed and in fact the whole time I skied this it was super POW days and the visibility was very low hence my need for this view! Regardless what camera are you using, it's mint at capturing footage!
It’s an awesome run in good snow, everything in that bowl is! I’m using the GoPro Hero 10 as of a few weeks ago. I upgraded from the Hero 8 and the horizon levelling is a huge bonus.
@@RawPOV Thank You...yes your video looks very good...I have the Hero 2 and 3 and am looking now to upgrade!
I love goats gully can you make a video on the run Robertson and how to get there :)
Hi Duel Blade, yes, there are lots of options to get into Robertsons. I’ll try to get something up soon!
@@RawPOV that you :)
Was this lap 10 down GG that day?
Should count the GG laps of the season rather than days on the hill. A much better stat. 👌
Which way did you take to get to the top of Burnt stew? Marmot or Matthews traverse?
This was from the top of harmony chair. Skiing Matthew’s Traverse then Burnt Stew is amazing on a clear day!
I trued go there but i landed somewhere else.
This proves there is not a difficult blue. Fun run tho.
Great classic line at Whistler. Have a picture of me jumping into it taken in the mid 80s
That’s awesome, it’s be great to see the photo!
I can see black diamond markers on the way so it's not a blue anymore
You are right. It changed from a blue to a black this year. What run do you think is Whistler’s hardest blue?
@@RawPOV I'd suggest headwall or Upper peak to creak both shown as blue on the map
@@mikespectoryahooc great suggestions!
