    @ 9.34 tenterfieild didnt get electricity till 1917 so that well developed pole system probably dates from at least the thirties. @12.50 the picture of hobart seems to be taken from the corner of Liverpool street and murray street looking to the hobart waterfront, St David's Cathedral spire is in the far distance to the left partially obscured. Thanks again for your wonderful pictures, luckily hobart has many of these buildings remaining and each city street has quite different topography which makes working out where they were taken easier. Have a happy ond prosperous new year.

    I have been to more than a few of the eastern state towns & villages depicted in these pictures. The Moss vale station still looked much the same the last time I saw it. The progress made in less than 100 years from when many of these places were established is amazing. Remembering that many hamlets, villages & towns were not begun until after the 1830's, to see such fine stone & brick buildings simply meant that many a worker must have worked long hours & many days to achieve what they did. We must remember that when Australia went to war in 1914, the national population was not a lot more than four million.

    @14.29 I remember crossing the gundagai road bridge when making the trip back to Holbrook in 1961, we kids used to be put on a mattress in the back of the FC Holden blue on blue station wagon and because the planks on the road bridge were laid across the bridge, we would all be woken up with a start as the tyres made the noisiest clack clack clack noise and as the bridge deck was sagging in between the piers the car would violently bounce up and down, I think my father would drive just a bit faster to ad to the bounce as us kids loved it. In the photo you can see the cross ways planking.

    Hi mate, I used to work in the Goldsbrough Mort building at Pyrmont right behind Darling Harbour. I didn’t know there used to be one also at Circular Quay apparently the AMP building now sits where there that was located. It is a travesty what happened to the beautiful blue and white Darling Harbour complex too. I used to have lunch there every day and often used the monorail to do deliveries around the city.

    • @Adventurebeatz
      @Adventurebeatz 8 дней назад

      It would have been great to get the monorail around the city. The Darling Harbour Mort building had an italiante design and looked pretty impressive. It was known as the farmers and Graziers Building when it was demolished in 1959. What was it like working at the Pyrmont Goldsbrough Mort building?
