About to take my ITF next week and then I have 2 months to study all day for A+, its hard to find jobs right now because of the election and Q4 is almost over and companies are not trying to hire until the new year.

Security+ is not a ticket into cyber unless you have a few years of experience want to work with the DoD. Y’all leading people to the slaughter house thinking the security+ gone take them from no experience to cyber. It’s a dime a dozen 2-3 weeks Cert. Minimal value in 2024 - everyone has it. It’s a decent cert to get but by no means a ticket into cyber or a finish-line to aim for.

If someone’s struggling with A+ they should be taking it. Working in cyber but not understanding the basics of how a CPU works and how to troubleshoot at PC comedy. It’s overpriced, but the content is solid.

The lady with 7YoE saying you don’t need certs terrible advice. The job market has changed, it’s ultra competitive in the entry level now. You can’t hope and dream your way into a job anymore.

I wouldn't recommend the Google IT support cert. I tried it and here s my opinion. The networking part of it had 2 quizes that failed me despite I getting all the answers right. And I was trying to get into WGU. So after one week, only thing I got out of it besides a headache was the Techilnical Support Fundamentals. So I said screw it and got the ITF+. My advice: if you want to take it, heed my warning.

AI is not replacing you. It's just that the top 20% of engineers can now do more than 80% of work. Sure you can use AI to generate code, but code needs to be integrated into existing systems and be fitted to meet business objectives. There's at least going to be a human interface between the AI and the company.

I find it funny how many people think that a machine won't one day take their job. It'll be smarter than you, stronger than you, more precise than you, be able to work 24/7/365 & yet people think their job is safe. Yeah, keep defending this outdated economic system sheeple.

With all the different ways to connect with other people it's shocking to me that no one thought to get as many skilled people without jobs together. We should all come together to form something . Think about it if all programmers, network engineers , the maker community were to come together to form a company we could start something marvelous .

Great video as always, it really does depend what you do. I worked at faang in infosec as a pm that also did training (think pci-dss compliance and other framework training like for the MITRE attack framework and NIST 800 and the like) At the higher end you can make really solid money, but it depends on the tasking and work you do: Red Team, Blue Team, Purple Team, Training, Social Engineering, threat modeling...tons of other things and tons of ways to make bread. I have made over six figures for years now and yeah his educator salary makes complete sense. So experience is the go to however.... if you do not have a CISSP and OSCP it can be tough to get into the higher role sets because there is a fundamental knowledge set you may not have garnered OTJ. I always tell everyone... DO NOT skip learning the it fundamentals... for example, if your IDS was screaming at you that your being port scanned or fuzzed, if you do not know how the OSI model works you won't be able to know how to remediate that threat and to harden that attack surface post remediation (in that case, you could shut ports down or push them toward your honey pot or a WAF regulated subsection of your network.) I took the CISSP and sadly failed 3 years ago when I took but I am gonna take it again in November. DO NOT BE DISMAYED!!! It is passable! EVERYONE YOU GOT THIS!
