162cm halibut for our guide Daniel Eriksson during a very nice night a few weeks back! | ENG SUBS
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.4 года назад
Our guide Daniel Eriksson get a very nice 162cm halibut. This fish is according to the chart around 60kg or 132lbs. But she was esceptionally high and wide so she was way over that weight. Sha had us a little fooled regarding the length as well for a while because of her impressive appearence. A very nice fish for sure!
Personal best halibut!

Our good friend Markus Ekeberg Hellesjø and his girlfriend was kind enough to visit us this summer when no one but norwegians were allowed here. We had a good trip and he got all of his target fish for the trip, a wolf, a redfish and a 130cm halibut! It was a very nice week!

The first nice September halibut this year for us, but not the last. Hopefully we will have a lot of time on the water this autumn. We aim for a lot bigger fish than this one! We were trying out our brand new custom made all American Tackle component rods for the very first time. We have never felt anything quite like this and can never go back to regular rods. Jigging halibut will never be the...

Camp Halibut guide Daniel Eriksson catches two really big summertime cod when fishing two rods. The first one weigh 18kg (40lbs) and the second one 21kg (44lbs). We caught loads of big cod this day and two really nice halibut measuring 140cm and 150cm.
177cm Halibut for our guide Alex! | ENG SUBS
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.4 года назад
Our guide Alex hooks, lands and release a 177cm halibut. This fish is according to the chart around 77kg or 170lbs. He really deserved it after guiding 150cm fish for our guests two days in a row the days before. This fish completed his three days in a row 150cm hat trick. 24 landed fish in two boats this day and a great average so our guests had a super nice time despite the rainy weather. Not...

The weather is even better and the nature is more breathtaking than anyone could ask for. You will see white tailed eagles grab baitfish a few meters from the boat, minke whale, purpoises and drone shots of a spectacular landscape. We are just getting st...

    Sticking you hand or hands in the gill area is not good for the fish, it can and will damage their gills and they could end up being killed by that very reason...

    Josephine has great technique and stamina. Most guys I see fishing large halibut don't look 1/4 as good! I have caught halibut for over 30 years and they are a unique fish to fight. People without the right technique lose a lot of fish.... and equipment... lol

    Great managing of your fisheries up there. All these guys from UK etc talking about tiny cod is due to politicians letting commercial fishing fleets destroy the fishery for profits. Most of the fish taken are exported to other countries. They are doing the same thing with swordfish. It is embarrassing how small a legal swordfish is in the US waters.

    Gave this video a thumbs up. But... I can't believe they are doing catch and release with halibut! I understand catch and release with certain species of fish but not halibut. I don't mean to sound judgmental but this whole thing sounds pretty arrogant to me. This last fish they caught would produce 176 lb of fillets. That's 352 meals. Me? I can't afford to buy halibut. It seems to me they should put more value on a family in need than on a fish. Actually, go ahead and get mad at me if you want I think this is the height of arrogance.

    • @camphalibut7894
      @camphalibut7894 Год назад

      Most people over the world buy into your argument and that is why the seas are being emptied. 90% of all fish over 50cm is already gone world wide. You can take from the interest but if you start withdrawing from the capital, it is going to drop. People are overexploiting nature and especially fish populations all over the world. There are way too few big halibut compared to the small ones. Commercial fishermen are harvesting the big females, the foundation of the population, and we are not going to take part in that. Don't get me wrong, we take smaller fish and eat our fair share of halibut. But the big females are so utterly important for future populations so we handle and release them with great care. We want to be fishing on a rising population in a sustainable way. We want to be part of the solution and not the problem. That is not arrogance. It is just common sense and respect for the resource we base our business on. /Daniel Camp Halibut

      @@camphalibut7894 Yes, look what they did to the global swordfish population. There are too many fish to count that have been devastated over the last 50 years by commercial fishing. Sad thing is most of it is exported. They take fish from your local waters and send it off globally. Your precious local national resource gets destroyed and you get nothing out of the deal.
