Speeding up terrace building - Viking Arm Decking Kit (accessory)
Add the Decking Kit to your Viking Arms to significantly speed up the laying and fastening of boards. Lock several boards in at the same time before fastening them. Straighten warped boards. Turns your Viking Arm into a long clamp which can be as long as you want (by adding clamp shaft extenders).

    Before I knew these existed I found some cheap ones on Amazon. Good for my small DIY jobs, but nowhere near the quality or lifting weight capacity of the Viking Arm. If I still worked in construction I would definitely opt for the Viking Arm. It would be well worth the cost for the time and energy saved.

      Thank you for your comment Frank. You are right. The real Viking Arm is a tool for professionals, making a huge difference in their way of working. Simplifying difficult and annoying task, and being a huge timesaver, money saver - and back saver. For most DYIers, they are often too expensive, unless they are into larger building/renovation projects. A tool just laying in the garage is a waste. The difference between the cheap (illegal) copies and the real original one are two different worlds. The cheap (and illegal) copies can be compared to the Viking Arm inventors initials tests of making inexpensive versions, before they found out they were dangerous, had limited lifespan and limited usefulness. They opted instead for making the ultimate tool they would have loved to have themselves.

    Two new features I would like to see: first, eliminate the clicking sound it makes while lifting. Not only is it very annoying, but can interrupt quiet settings, like doing emergency work during a church service. Second, give the option of using it hands free, with just foot pressure to do the lifting. Thanks, great tool!

    why be so greedy with 200 eur

    • @viking_arm
      @viking_arm 2 месяца назад

      No greed. The inventors started out trying to make them cheap. But cheap is not quality (test the cheap copies vs. the real Viking Arm). Tests showed that making cheap versions with inferior material (like you often see now), would make the tool suddenly break/stop working, have limited lifespan and limited usefulness. Instead of following that route, the inventors opted for making the most useful tool they could make, and it became a tool for professionals. They just made their own dream tool. Compact and strong with a lot of safety margins due to extreme quality. You may say that one of our worries is that the real Viking Arm is of high quality if you look at it from a business perspective.

    • @viking_arm
      @viking_arm 2 месяца назад

      For that use, I could not justify the purchase either. It is a tool for professionals. Carpenters, construction workers, and installers of all kind. They usually earn back the investment in a day or a few weeks. Then you see it also is used in many many other areas. Like the film industry by set-builders, dolly-operators, museums that needs to lift heavy priceless object, in factories to lift heavy products they are making etc. The uses are endlessly. But expensive tool if it mostly left on a shelve.

BUT - it was still only $50.... Your Price of $350 each is completely unjustifiable. The mechanism is based on tried and tested solutions manufactured with high quality materials. But if others can produce these mechanisms for $50 for high quality, then you can do the same. Whilst utility adds value, it doesn't make it a $350 proposition...... I will have to add this to the list of tools that I will only own when I win the Lottery...... And then I won't need the tools....... Such is Life. Sort the pricing and I will buy. Hi @AJolly. Let's fix this. 1. We use fine mineral oil of high quality. Like the special oil from Würth for compressed air tools. Art.nr 08930505 038 1. Similar mineral oil should be fine. Please DO NOT use oil with silicone or Teflon. We do not have experience with PTFE and would not recommend it. 2. DO NOT SAND off anything on the shaft. It may severely impact the functionality. The marks have probably no effect on the functionality, but impossible to be sure without testing. 3. Viking Arm DROPPING is usually due to excessive use of oil, wrong oil (containing silicon/teflon), or problem with the lock. Please make a short video of the Viking Arm from the side while operating and showing what goes wrong. Please mail the video to support@vikingarm.com and we will solve this.

The alternative is to get a fellow carpenter to help @ £250 a day , so for me its a no brainer . Just check out those horror stories of fake chinese ones folding up in 5 minutes & you'll understand , you really do get what you pay for & when it comes to my safety i'm not risking injury or death to save £350 !! The inventors had to choose between making a mediocre tool with limited uses and lifespan, or go for the dream tool they would have wanted themselves. Thankfully, they went for the high quality dream tool with unlimited number of uses, are safer, stronger, more accurate and will last for a long time. It's an investment that quickly save professional carpenters, installers and others a LOT of time, hassle, manpower, and their back. We hear that sometimes it has payed itself off in just one day, but more often in a couple of weeks. It all depends on what kind of work you do. It is expensive because we wanted to make the ultimate versatile and durable tool. The cost of a tool is weighed up against what it can help you with, and how much time and manpower you save. This tool may not be for your kind of work, but professionals using it tells us the investment may be saved in from anywhere between a day and a few weeks. It is and investment, not a cheap use and throw tool. And believe us. If we could have made it a lot cheaper with the same quality, we would have been filthy rich.

      Hi. Würth and dargantools.com sells Viking Arm in Ireland. ITS sells in GB. The extender for cabinet installation is expected launched in the last part of 2022. Due to high interest, we expect the first production batch to become sold out “immediately”, but we will produce them as fast as we can.
