Renovate is like Rebuild!

Rebuilt!!! (from Brazil) in 2022, but, that's my opinion!

I’m disappointed, I thought for sure you were going to show us the finished rebuild.

I would say and agree with the one team. Knock it down, and destroy and replace it or rebuild. Start very fresh and new from the very beginning and bottom to the very end of the finish product or project. Also i would keep some of the older furniture pieces and try to reuse them as well. That is the way i would do it and that is my opinion to.

It seems like to me on both of those that design that they didn't listen to the people and what they wanted I wouldn't take either one because they didn't listen to what the homeowner said

I would have done minor repairs to the original house and used part of it for the granny flat and part of it for bedrooms and an additional bath. Then build new on top of it that would include the kitchen, living, dining, 1/2 bath and entertaining space/deck. By extending slightly out the back it would create a covered outdoor space for the granny flat. This would leave space for the kids to play in the backyard. Both proposals were over budget, although I liked the renovation plan better.

Definitely going renovate on this one.

Old houses like old cars nothing last forever and block sizes are too small these days .. knock down and rebuilt on a bigger block

I would go with renovating over rebuilding hands down! But they should have included request for issues with existing house to be addressed in the rebuild. I feel too many of our older homes are being torn down and replaced with inferior quality ones. I am in Texas, USA.

Loved the gismo they used to show what the new build would look like. Made it feel warmer than original design. Had preferred the refurb before that.

My favorite design and overall use of the property was the rebuild. However, and this is a big however, Adding on to an older structure, especially one that was purchased originally as a tear down, is a bad idea. Add to that the sewer and mold problems, the structural damage, and the general lack of energy efficiency, tells me there are going to be lots of surprises -- and these are not good in a renovation situation -- all of which will add time and money to the project. I would like to see the rebuild people come up with an optional plan that wasn't so imposing in size and overall use of the lot. I would want another option than the design they put forth.

I actually love that the family chose to rebuild. I believe investing that amount of money deserves a rebuild. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Team Renovate Michael and Carlene and the renovation they produced. I mean, seriously, this couple would have to be one of Australia's most gorgeous looking couples and talented beyond talent. But I agree with the owners' choice in choosing Norm and Jess' new build. It was a tight competition and congratulations to you all!!

I was expecting to find episode 2... but there's nothing. ;(

Rebuild. The house looks substandard and is lost on the street in terms of curb appeal. They do not even take care of their yard, so they need a yard that is less labor intensive b/c they don't care about how the property looks. Rebuilding will recapture the view the house once had, and will be more efficient and safe; they have scads of room out the back, and could have a garage too.
