HE WAS A CONSUL OF ROME!
Просмотров 1,8 млн6 лет назад
All copyright's to HBO. And please, make the 3rd season for Rome.
I like how Posca steps forward and squares up like hes going to fight the two guys with swords if they step any closer lol
Is the guy wearing a hat or a really bad bald cap?
This scene always gave me chills. Roman’s man. They may have been backstabbing conniving people but there wasn’t a people more proud than Roman’s. Even more so than Greeks and the Greeks were the OG’s of calling people who weren’t them barbarians lol they had the gall to call Alexander the Great and Macedonia barbarians lol
Eternal shame on the house of ptolemies
Caesar is specifically mad because Egypt, then essentially a vassal of Rome, had not only dared to kill a consul of Rome, but someone who would be considered their superior. The very act showed Caesar that they do not take the order of superiority as seriously as Rome would want, and therefore set a dangerous instance of a Roman figure being assassinated. Also, Caesar would have wanted to be the one to finally capture Pompey, having been former allies and adversaries, he did respect Pompey and wanted the final victory to go to himself, and not ended in such a way.
Tbt when Caesar faked his death and went beyond the wall
I'd be mad if I was ruling the greatest empire and some kid had the gall to say "I don't like him" too.
was there any bad scene from Ciaran Hinds in this series, what a masterful casting
I get it, sorta like someone butting into a war between mafia factions. Which reminds me of what Robin Williams said on one of the Ferguson interviews, it woulda been cool if they did the Italian-American mafia accents instead of outright British. Imagine some consul or another outplaying another consul or barbarian king, going all "What you gonna do rite now huuuh?" 🤣
Rome operated on a different level xenophobia. Despite Pompey being Caeser's rival and the fact that executions of nobles was brutal as well, he wouldn't accept the perceived lowlives to do the same
i can imagine joe biden making that speech .....
Shame on the house of...y-y-you know the guy for such....anyway. shame.
Nah imagine Donald Trump .....Hannibal Lector....I didn't know what NATO was.....The Oranges (proceeds to ramble about toilets for 15 minutes)
@@DavisJ-ln6fw it'd be more. You bring me down. to this. Nasty place. And you show me this. I knew this guy. We did business he told me nobody ran Rome like I did, and sometimes we disagreed. Then you show me this! And what am I supposed to do. You Ptolemy you say you're Egypt. Nobody talks Egyptian, nobody looks Egyptian. What does that say? But its been. A lot of years but still. Why didn't that change? When I go places I learn words, I did Gaul, they love me up in Gaul. I know Gaul, ask me about Wine, ask me about Wall. And that's why I did so good there. But you. Here however long...you've been here and you don't even know how to read what "little bird, little guy, little bird" on that wall means. Sad.
@@DavisJ-ln6fw like yourself
Mi felt like the actor didn’t look that much like Caeser but by episode 3 it felt like he was possessed by him
Ciaran Hinds was perfect as Caesar.
By far the best line in the whole series. Sum it all up. Thanks for the post
Ptolemy was king, yes, but everyone there knew who really had the greater power. Caesar was the only one who could have gotten away with that, and Rome's ascending power even amidst civil war was apparent.
Also Ptolemy didnt even have complete control of the Egyptian populace consider that there was probably a sizable amount of support behind Cleopatra.
"He tried to kill you!" "So? He was my bro!"
When you realize real world history is more entertaining than fantasy, such shame
Instead of 10 GoT spinoffs, maybe we should resume this. Or hell, do the Crisis Of The Third Century. Bring us Roman trauma! Bring us Trajan!
Did HBO check with Tribune Aquila before canceling Rome?
“He was a consul of Rome!” - Julius Caesar said calmly.
"HE WAS MY FRIEND" is probably what he really wanted to say judging by how sad he looked at the Pompei's head. Also he forgived all the traitor cenators who decided to side with him after he deafeted them. One of them was Brutus.
Such a great show - too bad it ended way before its time
Name?
If you're going to be sycophants, be sure to know your audience. Here we see some first class courtier suck-ups slipping up and making one of the epic booboos of ancient history.
They were personal friends, and JC let them know right there that they had not only offended him (which they did) but put themselves in bad water with the entire Roman republic (which is a very bad place to be). It was a great power move.
I lament the fact that I will probably never have an opportunity to shout this at the top of my voice, in a real life situation.
Shame on the House of Albrecht for this cancellation. Shame. It was a DRAMA OF HBO! A drama of HBO. To be cancelled in this sordid way, two seasons in like some low AMC comedy. Shame.
Shame!
you can clearly see and hear how Caesar loses it for a second yelling the line. despite everything, both were once friends, allies, and family. Caesar would've definitely wanted to pardon Pompey if he could, not to mention, he probably still had some good popularity among the people due to his past successful and great military campaigns
shame on paul mccartney
loving that bald cap
also the fact killing him and like that sets the precedent that big players in the roman government can die like that undermines his authority even though its not much.
I swear there's a movie or show that parodies this scene, and I can't for the life of me think of what it is
That man’s voice IS Julius Caesar, holy shitus.
Picked the perfect dude to play him
He really showed those NCR fools who's boss and who's bozo
he was a consul of RuõUmE🤪🤪🤪
Third world justice vs 1st world. This scene is a tale of 2 cultures
"He was consul of Rome" - Ceasar said calmly
God this show was good. Shame they cancelled it for muh quean of thrones.
In all honesty, Gaius Julius Caesar loved Pompey like a brother and as a result, he never wanted him dead nor imprisoned, just retired out of any career of governmental level. But what Caesar really hated was the face of anyone who killed a Roman.
More like a father figure. Father-in-Law before Caesar's wife died.
I find that hard to believe. He killed any romans who defied him. He probably acted as if he was sad that pompey died so that his followers would change sides.
"today i found myself remembering how much my daughter loved him, she died tring to bear him a son."
Rome deserved that 8 seasons instead of fiction and fantasy tv series like GoT
Romans are lowlife thieves.
Vēl šodien pārņem tās pašas emocijas, kādas bija, esot svētkos un izpildot šo dziesmu. Ļoti emocionāli, skaisti ❤
Context: Caeser treated his fellow consuls with great respect and honour, like watching from the sidelines as a mob poured feces down the throat of his co-consul Bibilus
