Over the course of editing this video I thought of 1000 more things that I hate about The Last One by Will Dean (also called The Last Passenger in the UK), so this list, while long, is incomplete. Spoilers ahead. #booktube

Episode Thirteen Is House Of Leaves For Babies (it's me, i'm babies)

Episode Thirteen takes the style of House of Leaves and the promise of The Haunting of Hill House. It masterfully combines them into a haunted house story unlike any I've read. #booktube #thehauntingofhillhouse

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year? Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite book of the year? We love a rating-stabilizing Queen 😂 This was such a fun rant review. This sounded like This Is Us but sports (drama, constant hooks, emotionally draining), but missing the character depth. At least the physical book feels good so there's less buyers remorse!
The rating is trending down every day. I like to think it's because of me.
@@abundanceofbooks17 💯 🤣
I am always reading books and have no cut off date. So I am siding with your sister. Sorry. I chose my first book via random number generator (City of Bones by Martha Wells). I gave it 3 stars; the ending needed an epilogue. The rest of my tbr is based on my StoryGraph challenges. It already made me have a 5 star read (The Lies of the Ajungo). It is a short fable/ novella. I really liked Red Rabbit (4 stars), I read it last year. It was very episodic (monster of the week) and I flew through it. I had no expectations going into it, so it was a surprise to me.
STUPID book - but I couldn't put it down. I totally thought Frannie was going to be the daughter Caz had given up for adoption and possibly Daniel was going to end up being the son Smith had abandoned - truly - THAT would have made more sense than Daniel and Frannie being actors. Like a secret revenge reality show pitting mom against daughter and dad against son. And what was up with the dogs - I really thought Frannie's air challenge was going to be something to do with putting the dogs at risk.
Thank you! I totally forgot about the adoption line! It makes no sense to include that if it's not going to come up in any relevant way.
awesome list of video games! I have taken a step back from video games lately, but I do want to check out Cult of the Lamb.
I enjoyed Echoes of Wisdom. It was my first Zelda game but somehow didn't actually feel like a Zelda game, based off watching other people play them. I played Cult of the Lamb when it was free on switch last year and really liked it. Recommendations: Sheepy: A Short Adventure was one of my absolute favorites. It's really short (I played three time and I think the longest I took to finish was still under an hour). The sequence after you get the ability to run I found absolutely stunning. Spiritfarer was another fun one. It's very heavy on grief so you definitely need to be ready for that. I just finished Dredge. It's a Lovecraftian fishing game that's free if you have Amazon Prime right now. I'm definitely going to check out Chants of Sennaar.
Such good recommendations! Spiritfarer is definitely on my list, but I need to be in the right mood for emotional devastation. Sheepy looks adorable and free, so I'll definitely be checking that one out.
Enjoyed the video and great list of books. I am interested in reading The Au Pair now - thanks for sharing your views on that book. A recent book I read that I loved is Home is Where the Bodies Are. I found the characters amazing and it's a book that has a few small mysteries. Riley Sager and Lucy Foley are both authors I have complicated reading relationships with. If I think about Lucy Foley, I loved The Guest List but thought The Paris Apartment was awful and didn't really enjoy The Hunting Party. I'd need more time to talk about my Riley Sager thoughts.
Please do a video recommending all your favourite romances!
That's funny, the only part of ACOTAR I liked was under the mountain! 😂I'll definitely be reading some of these 💖
Sign Here AND Celeste Ng??! Cleary we have the same taste in books 😍 Brb gotta binge your whole channel ❤
Agreed with everything you said. But It was entertaining in the same way a B Horror movie is or how people cant look away from a car crash. Just so outlandish. I predicted the ending with the plane once Caz stepped on that thing lol ✈️
Totally. I think it's a great bad book.
I'm so glad I watched this before reading. 😂 I just finished One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware and it sounds like the same vibe. I gave it 3⭐️
Maybe I'll have to read that one next 😂
Spoilers For people who think it came out of nowhere, the whole book I was confused by how Adele “went bad”, because she was so kind and sweet in the flashbacks. I was worried that would always remain unanswered…until we found out the “then girl” is not the same person as the current Adele POV
I love watching people react to this book because there are so many points where THE twist could have happened. Nope, it’s literally at the very end of the
Really enjoyed this video. I agree that Travis Baldree is fantastic, and Bookshops and Bonedust was the better book. I did read it before Legends & Lattes and I probably would say it's better to read in that order. Romantasy is not something I've really jumped on to read, but I am reading the Twilight series and Cassandra Clara for the first time at the moment, with mixed results.
I'm glad to know Legends and Lattes can be read in either order (excluding the Bookshops epilogue)
Truly madly deeply, sounds soooo good!! 😊
Do it!
I'd also love to see some bachelor/ette books play out amongst cast members! Less theme-heavy and more fun intrigue!
Welcome back! In an Absent Dream is by far my least favorite Wayward Children book. I don't understand how it's so many peoples' favorite.
Thanks! Happy to be back. I'm glad to feel validated. Gives me more hope for the rest of the series.
Using a quote from the book for your thoughts on the book is some diabolical genius, amazing So many great covers also this video!
I also I'm going with 'book' in the title for that prompt 🙂 "I can't even see your crimes to punish you"....I laughed out loud! (and startled my dog...LOL)
Readers must be tuned to finding Book. Poor puppy! I have to apologize for my cat's crimes once again!
This really made me realize how little I remembered about it. It's so good! So happy you enjoyed it! (Also very impressed you gracefully say 11/22/63 each time, date titles are impossible/a tongue twister imo)
I know a lot of people struggle with saying it, but I've never once thought about it.
I neveeer read the bonus content, it's just always either content I'm not interested in or too small a taste (/a tease) of what I DO want to read. So defo counts not reading it imo! Also STOKED for you to read Verity!!
#releasethecatscut 😂 Now I feel sad for Jason Derulo. But also, he's bound to try and have his own cult, right? That's a numbers game if there ever was one.
I love a good memoir. Jason Derulo, hmm. .
I hope you enjoy your reads. Have a great month
👻📚
omg that You, Again cover is fall personified
I really liked some of these! I read Anna Dressed in Blood around when it came out, and one of the only things I remember is somebody getting ripped in half. It is YA, but it's violent. Starter Villain wasn't bad, but didn't have enough cats. I hope you have a good reading month!
Just finished Anna Dressed in Blood, and can confirm, someone gets ripped in half and it's......memorable, for sure.
You need to read the Circles Of Hell series by Mark Cain. At first I was annoyed by Sign Here because it felt like a blatant copy, but then it took a different turn. Circles of Hell is basically the hell portions of this book.
Episode Thirteen went straight on my wishlist it sounds great 😊🩷
Such a wide variety of books and outcomes! You go, Glen Coco
and none for Gretchen Weiners bye
@@abundanceofbooks17 😂
PEI! I want to take a trip up there, vis-a-vis Anne of Green Gables :) Any suggestions???
It's been many many years, so I don't know what's changed, but Avonlea Village is so cool. It's a bunch of actor's performing stories around Avonlea, super interactive. And of course, Cows ice cream is a must, even just for the merch.
American child here - we also had to read The Hatchet in 5th grade lol
Can't wait to hear what you think of Tears of the Kingdom. Dead Romantics sounds interesting, so I'm looking forward to hearing more about that too. Enjoy playing and listening. :)
that celeste ng transition and "the titanic isn't titanicing yet" both got me 😂
I see no better way of explaining that.
The Dead Romantics - SOLD!
I also want to read The Hollow Places. T. Kingfisher does amazing work. I recently read Kaiju Preservation Society. It doesn't go exactly as I expected, but it was good. And funny.
Good and funny sounds like perfection to me.
Good luck with the readathon! I just finished my second book for this event. I went about it differently in that I have a pile of books to read and I hope that some of them somehow fit the prompts, lol! I guess we'll see!
Great TBR 😊
Thanks 😊
This book was good but not my favorite from the author that would be written in the stars
I think I'd agree. I'm also really excited to read her new release, The Fiancee Farce.
I just finished it and found your video. I was kinda hoping you were going to explain it, because I am alil confused 😂 I'd love an explanation of the end if you'd like to DM me? Loved your excitement!
I think the only thing to know is that the end does a time jump into the past, prior to the events of this book.
OK GUYS BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE END? Who's is the Peyote? Because we know that he's from Harrison's family but like, he's not Philip, and there's no other man in the freaking family so... I was thinking and don't have any clue...
I think that he was just some guy, farther up the family tree. But it did seem like a missed opportunity for a fun little reveal.
@@abundanceofbooks17 exactly, I was waiting for this specific plot and didn't happen :((((((
@@victorbrandolinIt states early in the book that the hell people can’t go back to earth during the time they were alive, so there was no way it was going to be Phillip or any of the Harrisons Pey knew about. Definitely a missed opportunity to hint clues during the Harrisons POVs to suggest who Pey could be!
I owned Black Eyes Susans. Wanted to keep and read it but my dog chewed it so much it was unreadable. It wasn't the first time she chewed one of my books. It's like she doesn't want me to read lol (luckily she's past her book chewing phase)
*immediately googling Beastly*
I just finished Before I Do and it was soooo good. Her books always make me laugh and cry. So great.
I hope you enjoy your reads.
This was such a fun readathon (! TJ Klune!!! What!!!), and loved the recs (looking at you, Joey)
I felt so bad because I saved it for the last book because I was afraid it would hurt me with sadness. Instead it just hurt me.
I think the price of the books here in Canada isn’t the best deal for the book.
There are definitely lots of cheaper places to get books, but I only wanted to compare with the major Canadian retailer. Generally Canadian books are way more expensive than in the states.
Omg this video made my day!! Thank you so much for all your kind words and I'm so glad you enjoyed your books 💖
Made your day? This made my day! Thank you so much! 💕
The Writing Retreat cover glows in the dark 😁
I have to say I never get my box until nearly end of the month ! I am only buying physical books now from BOTM because of the cost. I don't know if you've heard of aardvark but the quality of those books is terrible BOTM is 100x better!
I always ordered my books as soon as I could, which is usually the last day or two of the previous month. They arrived pretty consistently between the 5th and the 10th. I'm sure it depends a lot on where you're located, though. Thanks for the info!
