The "family" line always makes me cringe. I'm very careful to call my team exactly that and avoid the family term. The companies that use it are often the worst run. Seriously...I love my family (extended and immediate), but we are chaos in a bucket sometimes. Why would I want to work for a company that is like that? Ok...off my tangent! I 110% agree that it's the actual act of working overtime that should be tabboo. Not the getting paid for it. If you're going to work overtime, get paid. Well. You're sacrificing emotional and mental wellbeing for it in addition to the physical. You should be compensated for that. But working overtime hours shouldn't be expected. It should be a rare occasion. It should be done with careful consideration.

I would agree that, if you are working extra hours, you deserve to get time and a half. Absolutely. None of this should be applied to companies that are requiring the extra work, but not paying for it. That's...antithetical to this entire video. And yes, I know it's illegal, but we all know it's still happening. I guess I should clarify that I didn't say overtime PAY is banned. I said overtime is banned. As in, the actual act of working overtime is tabboo for us. The rare times that my team does have to work overtime, they get paid for it. But I won't approve it very often, and not because I'm looking to avoid overtime pay. If they are asking for overtime, I'd rather look at what's on their plate and look at what we can take OFF their plate to get the project that is time-sensitive done on-time without them having to go into overtime. Personally, I think that companies that are better about managing the resources of time and people are usually better about managing the resource of money and can therefore pay their people more. So that begs the chicken-egg question of..."The companies that require regular overtime...do they pay less BECAUSE they require regular overtime? Or do they require regular overtime BECAUSE they pay less?" But I also realize that what we do is not the 'norm' and there are too many people not being paid enough and therefore in a position where overtime pay is so important. I wish there was a perfect and easy solution. Ideal versus real life are often very far apart.

They announced in an earnings call, while talking about what they are doing to try and drive more business to the restaurants during non-peak hours, that they are investing in digital price boards and software so they can roll out "dynamic pricing"... It's easy to read between the lines... They are going to either charge MORE to go to them during peak hours, or they are going to increase prices across the board and then 'drop them' during off hours...

@GrowDisrupt dynamic pricing sounds horrible. How am I suppose to know what I'm paying for if it changes??? How will this affect things like doordash???

@@thelegend2761 That is the whole point of this video! It's an absolutely TERRIBLE idea. They've been getting a lot of backlash for it already - but everyon'es kind of expecting them to just try and do it anyhow like Netflix did with the password sharing thing. And if they do...I mean, I'm not eating at Wendy's all that much anyhow, but I think it will backfire on them horrible.
