Great guide, this really helped! I did this on NG++ which adds a red phantom next to the lava chest, but I found that you didn't even need to kill it. I just use unveil next to the bonfire where you spawn in - if it goes right and down towards the red phantom then rest and reset. If it goes up then kill the Mad Warrior then Feather back and restart the cycle.

There is another way ! And it took me just about 10 minutes ! I have not needed anything you are doing there . And it is more complicated what you are doing there . I did totally different and it worked . First of all I suggest you get a trainer to give you infinite items, cause otherwise it is going to be very frustrating to get all the Sunlight Medals you need to offer to the shrine and it would be pointless anyways . After you get the trainer for infinite items then you only have to get 1 medal . To get the one medal I needed, I equipped the traveling merchant hat you can buy from that old lady that sells you stuff, the Gold Serpent Ring and the Rusted Coin to boost my luck, then I went to the Ruined Fork Road where those falconers are and there I killed the respawning falconers until they dropped a Sunlight Medal, you also need to activate your Rusted Coin to boost your luck . It took me about 10 minutes and it is the fastest way you can possibly do and it works like that .
