Thank you for your video, consider saying uh less.
I'm sure this ended up sprouting beautifully 😍
I've never seen a wandering Jew that looked like that !!! It is a beautiful plant, just not a variety I'm familiar with. Can anyone please tell me what kind of wandering Jew it is ???
This video is really helpful! I inherited a really leggy jade plant, and I've been nervous about cutting it back. But between this video here, and your prior one where you actually cut back the jade, I feel like I can do it. Thank you so much!
Purple Heart? 💜
Just got one at lowes $90 loaded with fruit and flowers
Great video, thank you for highlighting Owari Satsuma. How is your tree doing 2 years later from this video? How did it do with last years winter and where in GA are you?
In other video said it’s dead. He didn’t protect it the right way.
Quite literally what I’m trying to do around my big oak tree out front!
I put my satsuma in the ground back in September and it’s now April and it had flowers and now little fruit all over it. Should I remove all of them off the tree?
JapOnica - stress on the O
Hi Sam I have a owari satsuma and a brown select I put old fashion Christmas lights the c 9 and a plant cover I got from Amazon, I also have a Home Depot bucket full of water right next to it to help with the cold weather. I’m in zone 8a
Sam, thanks for the video. I have several Loquat trees that appeared in my yard. One has been producing lots of fruit for several years and I love eating it. But it seems to take a long time for the fruit to ripen. I'm thinking maybe I need to fertilize them and that's why I looked your video up. Thanks again!!!
Great information!!!
How did work out? Did it come back?
Are the roots aggressive and extensive?
The leaves feel like a dogs ear. You can transplant them the first year to where you want them. Just keep them watered and they will come back the second year with the tall flower stalk. They only live two years.
i have this plant all over my property in Missouri .. will follow you to see what to do next.
So do what you want on your property and remove the plant if you want. That said, that is a second-year mullein plant based on the seed stock. So it's not coming back next year anyway. Just FYI.
LOL I am binge watching your Mullein videos.
Thanks, good video.
Glad you liked it!
Looking forward to seeing the process after drying. I have a lot of mullein plants and have dried some. Just need more information on what to do next. Thank you for your time making this video.
Coming soon!
You can compost the okra stalks if you have a shredder
I have to figure out how to get them out of my raised beds😢
I'm watching this video 1 year later but i'd ask these 2 questions... 1. Why would you uproot a plant that you've put like a year or 2 into growing to input another tree instead of just putting the new plant into another hole. 2. If the first tree didn't do well in that hole, why put another tree into the same hole. If I had to guess I would say that new tree probably didn't do well either. I'll look at some other videos. Let me know. I'm in Geogia also Albany To be exact. 🖤
Thank you for your question. I wanted a loquat in this particular spot. Also, The first plant was started from a seed, and I did not expect it to produce fruit. The new tree is from a nursery and has done very well in the spot it was placed. I will post another video on the loquat soon. If you have information or tricks that will help my loquat, I'm all ears. Again, thank you for watching.
You’re going to have the same problem with the lemon tree if you don’t use Christmas lights, can’t wait for the update next year.
Thank you. Yes, I've been told about the Christmas lights. I will certainly try that. I think my Satsuma would have survived if we had not experienced an unusually cold winter. Our normal winter temperature range from low 60s to mid 30s, However this past winter was in the mid teens.
I just saw your video where you dug up the okra stalks. Do you compost?
Damn that sucks😢
1:03 Citrus grown from seed are not true to type. You will not get a *true* Owari Satsuma from a tree grown from its seed.
Do you think this can grow outdoors in 7b?
It can but there are a few precautions for extreme cold weather.
You should try Dekopon or Sumo orange.
Beautiful tree 🤩🌴
Why plated to close to the wall?
Very beautiful plant.
Great video. We are also in Georgia and need to remove monkey grass that is all along our back fence. I’ve subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos.
What frost zone are you in there? I have some I just put into the ground up against the South side of the house here in Chesapeake, VA. On the border of 7B/8A on the map. I will call it 7B since we are usually about 5F colder than what they predict every night. Today I will be putting on the C9 lights and 1.5oz (heavy) plant jackets I got for cheap on Amazon. I will leave it on them for the Winter... and only turn on the lights for my baby trees when temps head South of 20F... which will be rare. I think it got down to 12F about 3 or 4 times last winter and they were fine in a pot in the same space... without the lights. My Meyer lemons even survived without wood damage... although they did get defoliated. The oranges acted like nothing happened.
we're in zone 8A, Central Georgia. We're about 150 miles north of the Florida line.
@@samandthesoutherngardener3974 Oh yeah it should do well there long term for sure! I just covered mine with an HD frost jacket last year in the micro climate agonist the south side of my home. Not even any leaf drop after many 12F nights. My lemons were defoliated for sure. Edit: And… I just realized I repeated myself. Lol I am getting old I suppose.
The Satsuma is ripe before it turns completely orange. If you wait till they turn completely orange they will be to ripe. The 2 next to the orange one are ripe. Pick one and let me know😊
Thanks, I'll pick it today to see.
Got one into the ground here in Chesapeake, VA this past Spring. Gonna cover it in a plant jacket and C9 lights soon. It is in my micro climate against the house like yours is. It went through the winter last year in a pot a few feet away and sailed through several 12F nights in that spot… without lights… but with a larger jacket and other trees sharing the space.
I did not cover mine this year. In Central Georgia the weather is pretty nice and the tree is cold tolerant.
Wow look at the oranges 🍊! That’s an awesome looking citrus tree.
It's 4 years old. They usually have a banner crop at 5 years old. I'll keep you posted of next season's growth.
Is that an Owari Satsuma?
I just saw his other video a few days ago... yes I think it is.
Yes, it's an Owari Satsuma. I chose it for its cold weather tolerance.
@@samandthesoutherngardener3974 Thanks! I have a Miho Satsuma Mandarin and was thinking about an Owari. I am in Lubbock, Texas zone 7 and we have prolonged hard freeze events regularly during winter. My solution was to build a seasonal Lean-to greenhouse against a shed. It is working well for the Miho and a Rio Red Grapefruit so far so I was thinking of building another for an Owari 👍 Best of luck with your tree!
Nice Video! Thank you Sir! 😊
Thanks for watching as I post new videos.
Just came across your channel. I like what you're doing Brother. New friend over here. Hope to stay connected on this garden journey. Take care and have a Great Day!
Thank you. gardening is a passion. I also love fruit trees and houseplants
New suscribe i live on the south of Georgia
It should be quite easy for you to grow Satsumas in South Georgia. I'm up near Macon.
Amazing where you bough you satsuma
South Carolina. If interested, I can forward you the grower/supplier's information/
It’s normal for it to drops most of its flowers especially for a tree that size. They don’t really start producing lots of fruits until it’s 4th yr in the ground. My owari satsuma produced a couple of fruits on its 3rd yr in ground. And during the 4th year, I had at least 20 fruits. And I heard that The Omari is a alternate bearing tree.
Thanks. I'll see how it does in the upcoming season
Sam, my Owari Satsuma Orange did the exact same thing as yours. My tree was covered with blooms, we had a light frost and most of the blooms fell off. I now have 6 oranges on my tree. i am just south of Hartsfield -Jackson and in zone 8A.
I'm in Central Georgia near Macon. Hopefully I'll have a better crop next season.
I bought a satsuma orange tree two years ago. It has not grown much at all. Could you help?
The Satsuma really does well near a south facing wall. Also pay attention to your fertilizing schedule and watering.
Also, be sure you're in the right zone for satsumas to grow. Satsumas are cold tolerant but temperatures below 20 degrees can be devastating to Satsumas.
I’m in zone 9, may be too hot
@@sharonroberts8159 zones 9 & 10 are sweet spots for citrus trees.
Thank you for the vid! This was my first year growing okra and I didn't know what to expect getting them out of the ground. Much appreciated!
Got one growing in a container
I had mine in a container for about 1 year. It's 4 years old and has been in the ground for 2 years
I have one about that same size that I got a few months ago but it's losing all of its leaves! Help!?
I'm not sure where you are but you certainly need to pay close attention to fertilizing at the right time and with the best citrus fertilizer.
Satsuma are good fruit.they sale them in Louisiana.
I got mine in South Carolina.
