Wascomat FL184 Flex-o-matic
This video is dedicated to my friend Maddox who alerted me to this machine in a local laundromat!
It is not a full length video as i had trouble filming parts of the cycle so there is some editing.

How goofy that water keeps coming in even during the washing process.
Had a similar White Westinghouse front loading washer in the late 1980s and early 90s. It was very unreliable, so much so it earned the distinction of earning the highest percentage of repairs for washers reported to Consumer Reports. I had it for all of 7 years until I got tired of paying to have it fixed. Ironically, its matching electric clothes dryer is still going strong today - after 37 years!
@@chrisikaris5891 WCI changed design features when they bought Westinghouse and not always for the better. This machine has been surprisingly problem free.
@eddy1210 Good to hear that. My machine was great, when it worked. And it solved a tight living quarters situation. Having a stacked washer/dryer saved a good chunk of space, and it was neat having something few people had in the 1980s. The name Westinghouse still meant something then, as it had for many decades prior. It is shame that it has all but disappeared. Even GE appliances have lost the reputation they used to have. I grew up with "We bring good things to life".
Cool!
That’s a rare W184
Awesome video and machine! Very interesting to put that thing in the machine to start it, rather than money. Also, love the Continental Girbau next to it!
The thing the attendant just put in is called a cycle card. The card has the cycle written on it and that is also the timer for the machine. when you insert the card and turn the knob to start it as the cycle goes on the card will slow slowly move back out of the slot, and that tells how much time is left on the cycle Unlike comparing this to a typical W184 with the mechanical timer that physically rotates
Nice
wow cool
Legendary machine. New sub.
Yhey truly are good machine.
Awesome posting. Waiting for more.
How long does the wash cycle take?
Good quality machine! They don’t make them the way they did before. Some have plastic tubs now made in Eastern Europe and not Germany. Seems like Miele is heading the pathway Whirlpool and GE went
Wow! How do the New Speed Queen Automatics look?
@@jeromedavis8575 Very sleek! Although the new Speed Queens in Canada are labeled Huebsch
Welcome back.
Now that’s what you call Deep fill
Why watrers running all the time?
i like how quiet the machine is in this video
Speed queen… The worst washing machines ever invented
Very good tumbling action and water level. The tall paddles do a great job at lifting, dropping, and tossing the clothes. We had this machine when I was a kid.
in todays standards features like these on an old washer is to much money for companys
Fantastic video, it’s a giant windshield wiper mechanism just as I thought. Thanks for the tear down.
We had one, look at the side of the paddle and you'll see slots where the lint would enter and be ejected.
Where can i buy this machine off of someone?
So it just rolls one direction non stop while washing?
I remember seeing these at a laundromat in my area yrs ago! 😊 They worked really well. I’d rather own one again over todays junk
Excellent machine with a great wash action.
Is this a whirlpool made wringer? The agitator and thumbnail cap look early whirlpool.
Sounds like a jet taking off! Now, this machine means business! If they sold these type today, I'd be the first in line to buy one!
What a beautiful washing machine
One day, i'm gonna bring solid tub old school washing machine's back. And i'm speaking this into existence. Quality over quanity, powerful motors, metal gears, and a powerful transmission. Mark my words.
So cool! Happy washing🎉
Good to see you're still around Eddy!
We need full cycle videos, a cycle from start to finish, no edits.
Fun machines !
Wow, I can't believe one of these old Kelvinators is still going. That's fantastic!
Nice
Do you have more videos of I know it doesn't have the final spin speed control does it however have two or three built in spin speeds
My mom had one it was the best time to talk to her she rarely stood still…my pig tail got caught in the wringer 😮
That machine is built like a tank
Is the drum meant to drop when in use ? I know the Keymatic drum tilted when full is this a similar design??
Bonjour, je suis utilisateur Français/I'm french user.
Aint nothing like a wringer washer.
True HE. ❤
1954 році! Стіральная машина!
I wish I could find one of those that works. All of the ones I've run across so far don't work, and are only being sold for the parts.
Honestly the built in scale with the door mechanism, for knowing what water lever to use should be brought back. Those machines were also well built without a doubt.
That look amazing. If only they still made front loaders like that now. The ones today are crap. Not enough water.
Yes they are crap. They don't tumble like that. Speed Queen seems to be pretty good..
Full video please
this was the best dishwasher we had. bought 1990.it still works to 2012. It runs every day!!!
A lint chaser is a type of brush specifically designed to remove lint, fuzz, and other debris from clothes, furniture, and other fabrics. It typically has a hard wooden handle and fine wire bristles that can effectively trap lint without damaging the fabric. Lint chasers are particularly useful for delicate items that cannot be laundered or for which dry cleaning is not desired.
