I Ate a Venus Flytrap - THE FORBIDDEN SALAD (Eating Carnivorous Plants)
My taste buds had just returned a year after getting covid, boredom and curiousity are a marvelous combo.
I don't recommend you traumatize your tastebuds but I don't not recommend it either. (just a lil) As long as its not T!dep0ds or someone else's wife. (im kidding pls dont put anything bad in your mouth).
This was fun to make. As bad as they tasted it's probably not as bad as my own cooking, or people who like matcha. (because whats worse than matcha itself). Might as well lick a dogs butt after it sat on grass.

Revisiting the PITCHER PLANTS of REDONDO - DINAGAT ISLANDS Carnivorous Plants Expedition
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.Год назад
This was made a few months ago & I didnt have time to edit it as much compared to previous videos, so some edits aren't good and I didnt get to make it as humorous as the prev videos unfortunately. 😂 No meme references guys sorry. Since last visiting Ive confirmed after talks with experts and locals that the deeper parts we've went into were what I realized to be hidden sub-populations (hidden ...
The Hairiest Pitcher Plant in the World - Nepenthes erucoides - Nepenthes of Redondo - PART 5
Просмотров 3,7 тыс.Год назад
Nepenthes erucoides is the hairiest pitcher plant on the planet, it is the most ultramaficulous pitcher plant on the planet as it grows on soil with the heaviest metal content than any other Nepenthes known. Its hairs captures moisture in the fog, its reduced & leathery hard leaves prevent extra moisture loss, and its small stature are all adaptations to the extreme conditions of Mount Redondo....
Mindanaoensis & its Hybrids/Candy Truncata/Giant merriliana - Nepenthes of Redondo - PART 4
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.Год назад
The hype before the peak!!! Part 4 is when we realize that Nepenthes mindanaoensis is starting to become an eyesore due to its prolific presence (including its hybrids), we do get to see some amazing specimens along the way, so its still a pretty cool part of the trip.

I Got Lost But Found Myself in PITCHER PLANT PARADISE - Nepenthes of Redondo - PART 2

I went the right way by going the wrong way, I was supposed to enter the Bonsai Forest but never got to that part and in doing so found some interesting and unique Pitcher Plant Populations. Happy incident!
The RAREST PITCHER PLANTS of the PHILIPPINES - Nepenthes of Redondo - PART 1 (ROADSIDE NEPS)
Просмотров 5 тыс.Год назад
WARNING! There will be MEME references. I'm not a botanist, just a dude with hobbies that's inconvenient for third world people. Watch my adventure as I attempt to find one of the rarest and the hairiest pitcher plant on the planet, Nepenthes erucoides. Along the way we will see various species that are only found in the Philippines as well! Its amazing to find them just on the roadside! We saw...

      @@JoseGarcia-hk9se i never measured it myself, but there is data from the weather stations we have. it rarely ever drops below 71 in the lowlands so likely its much higher up here.

    This is not extraordinary. Orangutans drink the fluid from Nepenthes in Borneo and eat the trap leaves. People in Borneo use Nepenthes traps to cook food in. While Venus Flytraps are closely related to Sundews and very distantly related to some edible plants and common flowering garden plants, they are not really considered edible themselves, even though they are not toxic. If you eat enough of certain Sarracenia leaves you may ingest enough coniine to feel some very light effects, but it is in such small amounts it is unlikely. The nectar from Sarracenias and Nepenthes actually has a slightly salty taste, but is not something I would put in my coffee in the morning.

    is this still vegan

    • @mutanthybrid3466
      @mutanthybrid3466 2 месяца назад

      Since they are plants, sure. I saw one person claiming that eating carnivorous plants would not be vegan. I have no idea how they came to that conclusion since most plants claim nutrients from some source, whether it be from their roots after dead rotting matter, including animals, work down through the soil, or by capturing and digesting them directly on their leaves. It is just a different method of getting the nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus they need a little quicker. You could say they decided not to wait for the animal to pass from old age. Most carnivorous plants live in nutrient poor areas, so had to adapt methods of obtaining those nutrients. Either way, carnivorous plants photosynthesize like other plants do and are composed of vegetable matter, not meat.

    I've always wondered, but never had the initiative to find out. Subscribed, as you seem to go on the adventures I want to follow. I'm glad you grew them yourself; I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for making this. I can't speak for the rest, but Venus Flytraps are very much endangered. Funny that it would be a crime to harm a wild one, but you can buy them at Walmart.

      occationally we do get them, but its not as bad as other areas since this place is private land and access isnt as easy. There are multiple hidden populations. Its a recovering populations from the years of mining and human disturbance.

    Kung my corals & shells, baka makakita kayo ng fossils.

    • @annon101
      @annon101 Год назад

      Unlikely as the acidic nature of this substrate does not preserve fossils well, which is why fossilized pitcher plants & cp's in general are unheard of. Its possibly an ancient seabed that was pushed up to the surface by volcanic activities. Its still weird though as there should be more limestone if thats the case.
