Sir rope is called line when you’re on the water.
He is teaching using layman words.
It's not called line when you're on the water it's called line once it is cut from the coil and used for a certain purpose not necessarily on the water
Great technique, thank you.

Nachsaison kann alles!
Definitiv!
Cool they’re moving lol
Excellent video on using the Provane and very interesting to see how you gybe with the vane. I would be interested to know why you chose Provane over the Hydrovane?
There are several reasons. The Provane is mostly made from standard parts. In case something breaks you get spare parts in every hardware store. And you get a really good support since the vendor is not such a big company as Hydrovane where you are just a number. And of course the price. It's cheaper. The Hydrovane is well-known and for sure a high quality product but you pay for the brand.
Leider 0 Zeit bisher gehabt.
Great Video, I did install a Hydrovane on my boat and I'm yet to try it. Thanks for Sharing.
Boat looks great!
Thanks for video
Thanks for great video. Very intresting.
Thanks for this great boat tour. Your boat is looking amazing. If not secret for what money you bought this boat?
You find such boats let's say between 50 und 100k, dependent on their condition of course. I was more to the lower end of this scale but had to invest a lot to get it ready.
Very great boat you have.
Very nice.
Hi Bernhard, I wanted to let you know I have just finished installing the Provane on my Aloha 34 and this video was VERY helpful in getting it properly set up and I was able to have my first successful experience using it this afternoon for a couple of hours, thanks to your video. The manual from Imre is helpful, but seeing your video and the actual functioning of the windvane through the different stages of setting it up make it much easier to understand. Thanks!
That's great to hear, thank you very much! Although I knew how everything works in theory I needed some time to figure out how to practically operate it. Hence I thought such video may be useful.
Danke, das hört man gerne! Da hat sich die viele Arbeit gelohnt :)
Sehr cooles Video, spannend erzählt und geschnitten! Freue mich aufs nächste!
Great video Bernhard, can you please tell few words about your boat and sails you beeen using.
Thank you! The boat is a Belliure Endurance 35 built in 1983, traditional long keel boat. There is a video (ruclips.net/video/cfr9q4KZRa4/видео.html) where I talk about the boat. The sails are from a hybrid material called Hydranet which is said to be bullt-proof. It is tri-radial cut and I'm very happy with them. All sails are new. I bought them specifically for this project since the original sails which came with the boat where pretty worn-out.
Thanks for quick reply, see you somewhere around 👍
Wonderfull video. Congratulations for REAL NAVIGATION CHANEL. Saludos desde España.
really great quality, keep up the great work!
A superb video presentation, and very nicely done story telling and narration. Congratulations. I look forward to further instalments of your journey. You may remember that I also have a ProVane wind pilot on my yacht, and love it as an important part of my crew! Best regards. Mark, SV Dreamtime.
Thank you very much! The Provane is definitely a great piece. The whole project would not have been possible without it.
Sehr gutes Video!
Florian
Tolle Aufnahmen! Kenne diese wunderbare Ecke seit vielen Jahren. Die Drohne bringt eine neue Dimension! Herzliche Gratulation und vielen Dank!

Terrible finding but good to know, thank you for sharing this!
you need some proper SEO marketing.
@@bhsailor schade, tut mir leid...
Da war irgendwas mit dem Wind😂😂
good video
nice video
hello, thank you for this vid! i was wondering how you manage adjusting the rudder deflection button without pinching your fingers while in a (bouncing) boat at sea?
It wasn't ever a problem although of course one should be careful.

Very educative explanation and demonstration of the vind vane. Thanks! IMHO: What causes the boat to head up by itself, especially in gusts, is the heel. The heel causes the forces acting on the sails and those acting on the hull/keel to be moved apart from each other in the horizontal plane. This causes a moment turning the boat towards the wind. An imbalanced sail plan also may lead to weather helm, but the strong tendency to head up comes from the heel. This is why you want to keep a boat as upright as possible. @5:05 you say that the vind vane should not try to permanently counter balance... Well, of course the boat should be balanced, the sails be well trimmed, no heavy bias on the main rudder, but then the job of the vind vane is exactly this: Counterbalancing any forces which take the boat off course, it has to counterbalance its tendency constantly wanting to head up. A note on stalling sails: When pointing too high, the sails get depowered, but they do not stall. The wind just rushes along the canvas without generating lift. The sails are stalled when pointing too low or when oversheeted. Then the laminar flow breaks down, becomes turbulent, you get very little lift and excessive stress on the rigg and a lot of heel.
Yes, you are absolutely right with everything you say here. Heel is a major issue. That's why reefing is important and you may be even faster with properly reefed sails than without.
And "to stall" means IMO that the aerodynamic flow collapses. And this can very well happen if it points to high to (or almost into) the wind. But probably this is just a matter of you using the right vocabulary.
@@bhsailor Maybe it's a question of how "to stall" is defined. But in this case stalling means that the angle of attack is too big AFAIK. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stall_%28fluid_dynamics%29
Yes, of course. So you're absolutely right. I should have known that.
My videos of the PV on my yacht ruclips.net/p/PLY93n_2Rb3iAJhHrf5BsODUHYS_RC6R0t&si=F0XtJDonHvDbmOTG
Thanks Bernhard for the nice clear demonstration. Everything you covered I have experienced in my use of this PV. I have the add on device to the shaft which allows me to make directional adjusts using a cord. As my yacht is a centre cockpit, and I also am predominantly a solo sailor, this item is very useful. I hard anti-foul the rudder each season and remove during winter months when not doing passages. Only issue I have is the drag on manoeuvring in tight spaces such as marinas. So as I do a-lot of day sails I remove the rudder until a passage is planned. How do you find it with close quarters manoeuvres? Mine is off centred like yours.
I will cover mine with antifouling as well but this is the 1st season. I didn't think about that before. And yes, I can feel it while maneuvering as well. But this is a full keel boat which is by default not so easy to handle and I have a bow thruster. So I'm used to it ;)
