Looks he's playing a Schmid triple, I don't recall them being as common as they are nowadays, must've been one of the early instruments. Wow, that cadenza final was unbelievable.
It's playing a Triple horn because the highest notes on a common F/Bb would be so much difficult

Hi MIklos, what size mouthpiece rim do you use? thanks!
Hi, I play on a Tilz B5 mouthpiece. The inside diameter of the rim is 18mm and thicker than average.
@@miklosnagy7240 Thanks for the reply, I play on an 18.75 but it is quite narrow. I am thinking about getting a bit thicker rim for some more cushion.
@@KQKQ23 18.75mm inside is quite big. If you are low horn player this is ok. If you want to play more in the highest register, you should take an other mouthpiece. There are plenty ot them on the market. Go to an shop and try them. For example l'Olifant Paris has several unscrewed rims and cups.
@@miklosnagy7240 I agree, I just have not found anything that really suits me that is smaller yet. I play professionally in Los Angeles, but as of late I feel like I am spending too much energy playing high at work, due to the rim size and how narrow it is. I think something closer to 18.5 with a wider rim would help. I have an 18 but my lips are too cramped inside of it unfortunately.

Is it a triple schmid in high mib or high fa?what is the better?
This is a Schmid triple horn with high F. If I would be 20 years old again I would choose high E flat (mi bemol) one. After 40 years solo horn and chamber music playing the high F type is better for me.

@@videosemusica7962 If you have been played on double horn before, then the mib is better for you. Much longer leadpipe. Almost similer blowing the air in it than a double horn. If you want to play lot of barock music like me than high fa is more comfortable.

I grew up listening to Dennis Brain, as the only horn player with recordings. He must have been among the first to do significant recording. With the passage of time I realize how truly great he was as a musician. Yes, he was technically brilliant. But so are many others today. I now see his greatness as being the wonderful magical way he shapes a phrase to give it life.
Wow! Among many comments I could make, those upward arpeggios in the last movement were incredibly clean for all four horns. Exciting tempo too! Fine work.
